I agree with your main point about teams exploiting/abusing the loan system. I still have nightmares about when Roeder was here and we had about 14/15 loans over a season!! Was responding to the lumping us in with those actually reliant on loans and the way you seemed to completely distance Wolves from loans.

To be fair I didn't really consider Norwich as a team that really exploited the system, the only one I thought you had to memory was Dorrans.

Semi reliant or has this not been the case for years? The loan market is there for everyone to take advantage of and has been for as long as I can remember.

Last year we had Bamford, Wisdom and Thorne who all played very big parts in our season and nobody mentioned it. It only seems to be yourselves that are a little miffed as you do not have any at the moment. How much was Afobe out of curiosity? All about clubs' transfer policies isn't it.

We're paying the same amount for Lingaard as we did for Leon Best, nobody said a word when we had him. Don't think it's our fault we've pulled off a good deal or two. Jordan Ibe got mentioned the other week and he's on a youth contract at Liverpool, another good deal. Shame he got recalled. I think it's important to remember that Bent and Ince have both been in the Championship already this season with other clubs which says more about their career's/ability than "Premier League player" does.

We weren't in this league last season so it didn't really bother me.

I think the loan system should be in place in situations where it is an emergency. Teams like Middlesbrough Watford and Derby have exploited it to mass levels in recent seasons, and they certainly wouldn't be in the positions they are if they weren't easily able to rely on Premier League loan talent. I remember the situation with Watford a few years ago where they nearly had enough players on loan to fill their starting XI and a substitute bench. It does irritate me as I feel personally it's unjustified and it's unfair on teams like ourselves who use our own players instead of the 'promotion at all costs' mentality, even if it means bringing in a team full of mercenaries.

Also Afobe cost us 2 million. Regarding transfer fees that's the first 1m+ signing we've made in nearly 3 years, which is pretty good in this league.

Always amuses me when people criticise the loan system. It's the same for everyone, if you don't want to use it, fair play. Doesn't mean you have a right to criticise anyone else for doing so.

Let's be reyt the loan system is a farce but also a necessity due to the implementation of transfer windows.

In days gone by clubs pushing for promotion or fighting relegation would venture into the market to sign the player(s) needed to ensure their outcome, that's how football was then the Premier League was formed and the Football League seemed to be booted out of the house after a few years by the step brother they'd welcomed.

The top flight hovers up most of our clubs young talent and pays us a pittance in most cases then they let us borrow em back for a fee. For years we couldn't sign players on deals due to finances so we used this market to bolster our squad, we've done it this year too with the likes of Keane and McGugan and for that I'm thankful but it doesn't make it right.

We have a few loan players this season (Toral, Pritchard, Long, Moore) but none of them had really had any PL appearances before, and only Pritch plays regularly.

We've used the loan system more as a try before you by system in the last couple of years. Bidwell, Dean, Forshaw, Judge, and a few others have all come in on loan first. Prudent business from a club that can only really pay a transfer fee if we are certain of success.

That's changed a little this season, but almost all of our expenditure on fees has been covered by sales.

This is probably the most we've ever used the loan system before, at least in recent times. We currently have 4 (Mackie, Chalobah, Ake and Appiah) and had Murray earlier in the season.

Under past management we had a rule where we would only sign players on loan if we were confident we would buy them afterwards. Got in a few good players like that, namely Leigertwood.

I don't really like it, but if you can't beat the clubs doing it, you have to join them. Also with FFP being so tight I think these cheap loans are even more important now.

You think it's fair that some clubs can be promoted when using about 5 or 6 premier league loan players all season because the manager of one club is mates with the manager of the other?

You think it's fair when a club can be promoted to the Premier League because you get 14m a season in parachute payments so you can pay more than everyone else.

Aye, he's gash. Hopefully Taylor will follow suit in the summer too. Same could be said of Rangel as well but I think he's got potential as a coach so I think he'll stick around.

Naughton has been a revelation, it can't be stressed how important good full backs are in our system. Taylor is abysmal, we need an upgrade asap.

It's a short term 6 week punt to give us an option completely different to anything we currently have. And to help defend/attack corners and other set pieces, which is currently our one huge weakness (with Mick McCarthy's Ipswich coming up as our next game!).

It is totally left field, counter to Howe's normal way of operating, and I didn't believe it when I first heard the initial murmurs. But as a short term plan B/C/D - it makes some sense.

Totally not the sort of signing I want to see us making too often in future, mind.

Seen a few posts about Wallace in here, I saw the article in our paper this week about Wolves being interested in him, also said 5 other clubs had shown interest in him since January. I believe Jackett watched him last weekend too.

To be honest I was suprised he stayed in the summer and signed the new contract with us. I'm 90% sure he will leave in the summer and certainly can't blame him. He's pretty much started every game for 2 years and we won't be going up this season so would make sense for him to make his move.

As for how good he is, well without him we'd be fighting to stay up. Awford has alot to thank Jed for because without him he'd have been dismissed no doubt. He mainly played Right Wing for us up until this season so you'd either play him as RM or CAM. He scores goals, and to be fair the amount of times he hits the woodwork or keeper makes a top save.. almost makes me think he's underperforming. He chases dead balls, takes players on with no fear and beats them nearly every time. He's got abit of flair but he's no Redmond or Ince. My only negative about him is his crossing which has improved this season.

Our CEO says we don't need to sell and it'd take a fantastic offer for us to sell but I read that as a warning of whats going to happen. I think he'll go for between 500-750k plus add ons. That money will hopefully be used for us to sign 3/4 quality players for next season.

Seems like Wolves are in the lead at the moment but Bournemouth, Reading and Brighton have also been interested in the past.

Kenwyne Jones is probably one of the most frustrating players of all time. Has all the tools to be an absolute beast but the majority of the time he plays as though he's been smoking high grade.

Tough decisions have got to be made, and what's the point of having a (very decent) Championship keeper if it stops us affording two other good Championship players?

Would be surprised if he left though, especially to Southampton. Talks about the importance of first team football for international call ups, seen McCarthy's transfer, knows whats it like to be sat on the bench, long term servant. But it's the money that talks..

Fairly confident we'll sign Pearce and Karacan, who else would want them that could offer more wages than us? I can only think of maybe Fulham.

Think we'll keep Pearce, can't see Karacan or Federici staying. A real shame if Jem leaves, easily my favourite player from the last five years.
