All of our trialists, including John Cofie and Zac Thompson, have been told we won't be offering them a contract.

Need a new batch of trialists (or just signings) quick because we have 2 weeks to sign 2 or 3 players.

Yep, Smith has had a look at John Cofie, Zac Thompson and Chris Sutherland and said no to all of them. Am I mistaken in remembering Chris Sutherland as someone who was decent to get in on loan for Football Manager a couple of years back?

That was Craig Sutherland, you could get him for 5K on loan from Blackpool and he'd score goals for fun in L2.

Currently at Rushall v Walsall, we have a tall slightly bearded left side centre half with what sounds like an Irish accent. Only player who is familiar is Gavin Gunning, but I doubt it since he is meant to be on trial at Oldham.

It's not Gunning, it's Liam Wakefield. Murthy just scored a rebound header from 2 yard's out. Played a back 5 with Rowley, Wakefield and Preston. Rico, kinsella, Flanagan, Levi, murphy and Bakayoko. Roberts in goal. Kinsella and Murphy stand out performers so far.

I doubt this is the centre back Deano was talking about, just one he was looking at as he is young. He said that the player will play on Saturday, so I doubt this is that main centre half trialist.

Not 100% Wakefield is the trialist. Could be McCombe to be fair, both look similar, tall and bearded.

Walsall web fans announced that it was Liam Wakefield..not sure if it makes any sense at all though. McCombe was deemed not good enough for Bradford who are in desperate need of a centre back, we've had him on toast with any remote pace in the last few years...I wouldn't want to sign him to be honest.

Didn't play too well for Donny last season from what i've heard. Paired with Andy Butler and couldn't form a partnership.

Strikes me as an outsider as similar to the Butler Holden partnership, two similar defenders.

Whenever I've seen him he's looked clumsy, cumbersome and painfully slow - certainly since his Huddersfield days when he was a bit more agile and powerful looking. Head on a stick comes to mind, which might not be too bad - but he's over the hill IMO and I wouldn't want to waste budget on him. The only thing he'd add is height.

To be fair to Liam, he suffered a bad injury last season. We played him at right back, right midfield and centre half. He's a good utility player, we offered him a six month contract due to his injury but he has chose to try and get a better contract elsewhere, good luck to him he's not a bad player.

Liam Wakefield played 45 minutes against Villa today, he looked just okay again, wouldn't be thrilled if we signed him. Surely there is better out there.

Zeli Ishmael on trial again at Burton Albion, possible loanee again. I know he is a bit injury prone but he looked excellent when we had him a season or so ago.

We had Dan Harding on trial tonight and he came off the bench.

He looked alright in the time he was given, we need a back up LB so I wouldn't mind getting him.
