Cox has to go for it tomorrow.

He cost the team 3 points by not going for it while we were on top and playing for a point. Eisa needs to start and we need to attack from the off.

I get that we need to have bodies back because of how patched up our defense is but they haven't defended badly in the games they've played.

No opposition player has been sent off against vale this season. Vale also haven't had a penalty since Bolton away. We still have a few players missing due to injury not got a clue who is going play left back. Also if vale fail to score tomorrow then they equal there record set in 1998 when they went 5 home games without scoring but in 1998 we were in what is now the championship playing good teams now we can't beat any of this shit in this league.

It doesn't matter if we play like we did against Oldham where we dominated pretty much the whole match and missed several chances or sit back and try to keep it tight like against Bolton and Cambridge we will still end up drawing nil nil or losing 1 nil to the oppositions only shot of the match.

war of attrition and i fancy you to turn Newport over........Newport are good on a good surface hence they have bucked up since playing at Cardiff

Your pitch is a leveler ......Sarcervic done his Hamstring Saturday....you had two/three come off injured

Newport wont fancy it

Was just thinking the same Andy.
Guaranteed away win this.
I can’t remember us ever beating Newport.
Don't think you have since we reformed. Need to go back to the old 3rd Division 1987ish for a Vale win against us.

Rubbish. Vale's pitch looks cracking. Even the Dragons rugby team have given up and fucked off from our shit tip to play their next few games at the Principality Stadium.

Sounds about right, almost always been close games since you've come back into the league. The last game was a hard fought encounter and think this will be similar.

It’s cracking in terms of divots... it looks better than it is at the moment it’s awful.

It might seem a while ago that you haven't had a penalty but you've had more penalties than 8 other teams, there's weirdly quite a few teams with barely any penalties this season.

I'd be intrigued to see red card statistics this season, we haven't had one in our favour since October 2019.

Couple of big games against the original side of course... the first ever game at Vale Park which we won 1-0 in 1950 and of course the famous Andy Jones game where we won 6-1 and he scored 5! What a player he was.

We’ve drew 3 lost 3 since they came back, although how we lost the 2-1 a couple of seasons back I will never know! Still can’t believe that penalty we didn’t get!

Always a tough game expect no different tomorrow and will be a challenge to turn these improved performances into results.

We had most penalties early season, oddly were conceding them loads too but the referees so far seem to have now tightened up on them.

Think we’ve only had 4 or 5 max though. Cambridge, Bolton, Carlisle and Tranmere are the ones that spring to mind.

The red card stat is a weird one, last I think was the Morecambe left back in early October 2019. Think you have to go way back for the one before that. A Scunthorpe player got a red (along with Worrall) but that was after full time.

We will have a left back. Clarke winked when asked about it!

The issue with Vale and red cards is we are too nice. Other teams roll around, crowd the player or referee we just are not streetwise enough.

Against Oldham a great example when Bahamboula swung an elbow at Smith he’s down granted but the others just stand around whilst the referee debates it with the linesman, no trying to sway it from a yellow to a red or escalate the situation.

Something Clarke does need to work on, not because it’s right but because everyone else does it and we are at a disadvantage. Been an issue since Aspin weirdly banned it along with wearing gloves.

You'll get something at the weekend as I don't think we've ever won at Scunny.

Just out of interest, who is the Grimsby player the supporters on their forum keep referring to as 'The Shop' ?

Watched a bit of the Paintpot Trophy final on Sunday and Tranmere were decent from what I saw. Held their own and were defeated by a moment of quality from the best player in League One when he's on form. Hopefully going toe to toe with a League One promotion hopeful on a big pitch has tired them out and we get at them from the off.

how are 17th in the form table? how shite are those other 7 clubs to be below us?
Haha that's a ridiculous stat.

I wonder how many games the opposition have finished with 10 men this season against Tranmere????
Admittedly theres been a few but most of those have been for two booking, unlike Newport. Most of theirs have been straight reds usually for making Josh Labadie roll around on the floor a dozen times, holding a body part and screaming like a banshee who is dying to go the bog. The only two straight reds against us I can think of was the guy at Port Vale for a pretty reckless challenge (although I think he was a little unlucky to be honest) and the Morecambe player who called Paul Lewis a "f*****t" while he was on the floor getting treatment from the physio the player in question standing in a huddle of players right next to the Ref when he did it. Not only was he being homophobic but he also displayed out and out stupidity.

We must be due one, did have Leggey sent off at Newport first game actually! (2 yellows and both pretty standard yellows so can’t complain!)

As I say though we are too nice and non too streetwise!

Looks like we are going 4-3-3 with a return for Monty! Plus that is.
