Totally deserved win for you boys, well done, we were very poor and you took full advantage and beat us in every department. Well done, hope you stay up

I'm not sure what Kewell's thinking was with his substitutions around the hour mark, you were starting to get on top but then completely changed your attack, we regained control after that.

That went how I thought it would go for us as we bumbled along and narrowly lost.

We was difficult to beat and lost the game from a soft penalty - Fine margins decided what I thought was a very tight game, neither side offered enough in the final third on the night IMO, but Bradford were that little bit braver than us, especially with their subs and got the win. Our goals have completely dried up in the last 5 weeks.

We've stopped offering any sort of real goal threat going forward recently and are now 7 games without a win - failing to score in 6 of those, this will be a huge test now for Ross Embleton because most of the fanbase want him out. At this rate his stubborness will see him getting sacked for sure. He will blame the ref for giving a soft penalty tonight because he always blames the officials, but ultimately we've offered next to nothing all game.

Very under par performance from us tonight. Everything good about our run has been fluid football and utilising our technical players to their full potential in the final third. Tonight consisted of a lot of long, diagonal balls. I know the pitch wasn’t in great condition due to the recent weather conditions, but I’m not sure this was a definitive factor tonight.

Orient came here to nullify our threats - and they did for long periods; but they didn’t offer anything going forward. Perhaps Orient’s lack of confidence/conviction/will to win, whatever you wish to call it, was their own downfall.

For us, it’s just another massive three points. It puts us in a really strong position. 8 wins in the last 11 games; finding form at the business end of the season.

What could go wrong.

Totally agree, at 0-0 taking off two players who can creat someting out of nothing was criminal, your players must have been overjoyed to see those two go off.
But like i said, no excuses you deserved the win

Have you sussed out yet that Kurtis Guthrie is the worst striker in the football league. 16 months and counting since he scored a goal now

He tries hard and won most aerial duels against Orient for example but needs a goal massively. That said he hasn’t really had any service.

Clarke’s made us harder to beat at the cost of our attacking prowess which despite our position we are one of the higher scorers.

It’s was terrible though, other than a Burgess shot that went wide that would of been goal of the season with how it bent there really wasn’t much to talk about. We had a couple of great positions but didn’t take advantage.

Two fairly poor sides but can see what Clarke is trying to do.

Christ that was hard to watch, we said we wanted a nasty horrible win and we certainly got it.

Our entire back 4 were a circus and thank god they got away with it.
Yep, let's not gloss over the fact that we look very rash. Crawley should have had at least one penalty, maybe a couple. Matete is decent, but he's got a red card in him I feel. Dug deep there though and ground out a classic Hursty backs to the wall win. Great flick on from the terrible Hamez Hanson to set up Adams for the winner, who finished really well.

Not a fan of Joe Bunney, so actually quite pleased to see him see red as Hendrie will probably start at LB against Harrogate. No particular stand outs for us, I didn't think. Perhaps Rose and Adams? I'm really glad Morais is back and fit too.

Crawley looked better than they did in the reverse fixture. Nadesan very threatening. Tidy side, good luck to them. Hope they have a playoff push.

Joe Riley was also unlucky with his volley at the end of the 1st half.

Agree that Mellish looks off it, don't rate him that much anyway. Chris Lumsdon was right in commentary, we should've been looking to replace Mellish with Dickenson while on top to keep us pushing on.

We could afford to lose 6 or so games, that was one of them. The upside is that we won't be facing many teams as good as Tranmere Rovers between now and the end of the season.

To write our season off after that tonight is totally ridiculous.

I really don't know what Furman has to do to get in the team, Beech must not like him for some reason but he's probably the kind of experienced quality player we need in there right now and yet he still persists in playing that donkey Melish.

Also what has happened to Taylor Charters? He got a man of the match against Walsall and hasn't been seen since.

How is Joe Riley doing for you overall?. He had horrendous luck with injuries in his 2 years with us and barely got a game
I rate him.

He's stepped up into midfield and looks a natural.

There's still a rawness about his game. Gets pulled out of position on occasions and sometimes the game passes him by as a result.

He doesn't mind the dirty side of the game, gets stuck in and got a good terrier like quality about him.

He's got superb technique and knows how to strike a football, which is the Manchester United in him.

We're a better team with him on the pitch that is for sure.

He'll have a solid career.

Big win tonight despite being well under par. Pen looked a little soft but was fair enough after the ref missed a blatant one earlier. Orient beat themselves in the end with their ridiculously negative set up because they never had an interest in winning that game.

Absolutely zero positives from tonight’s abysmal game.

Harrogate were slightly better in a poor game, the only goal came 10 seconds in to the second half, when our players decided to carry on with half time.

How the fuck have we wasted nearly two months on that fraud of a manager when these players can dig in like that?

Because whoever runs your club is totally clueless to even think of ever appointing any manager once associated with Grimsby FC.

Yeah must say he wasn't that great in his few appearances for us and he was desperate to move to a league club, even though we signed him as backup to David Ferguson (1st choice LB). I certainly didn't think he looked all that tbh so not surprised he's doing nowt for you guys.

Agree about Charters, the only thing I can think of is that he is the young player that was struggling with covid? Although I thought Beech said that was Bell?

Not sure Furman is the answer, though on the other hand we've not seen a lot of him. We have Guy who is top notch in the holding position. I would much rather have Charters or Dickenson in the midfield slot.

It's a shame Devine got injured because he was starting to look like a solid option.

Mellish serves a purpose but I think we're better than him.

Well if he is trying hard, thats an improvement on his time here. I have never seen a player look as less interested right from his debut with us

God that was terrible. Up there with one of the worst games of football I’ve ever had to watch. We genuinely didn’t have one meaningful chance, against Stevenage at home in the fourth division.

We played five at the back and decided that hoofball and counter attack would somehow work. No one is ever going to convince me that we needed to play like that at home against Stevenage to stop conceding goals.

End this season now please.
Welcome to Clarke world this doesnt surprise me at all.

It's only two games in for us and I don't like to get on players cases that quick but we haven't got time in a relegation scrap to be bedding in. The main saving grace is that he seems to have a bit of pace, however I'm instinctively skeptical of tall fullbacks. Hearing that he didn't set the division below alight doesn't help my opinion.

Both Rovers and Carlisle were good going forward, but had issues defending. Ours improved after the break, when the injured Nelson was replaced by O'Connor, who barely put a foot wrong. However, we were under the cosh for a long period in the second half, multiple corners and a certain goal for the hosts headed off the line by James Vaughan. From the time Kieron Morris came on, we managed to keep hold of the ball more and great work from Nugent to lay the winner on a plate for Vaughan late on.

Wouldn't give up just yet Carlisle fans, still think on tonight's showing, both sides will end up in the top 7

£4,000k per week we paid him. I can’t think of another signing which was worse, pound for pound.

Perhaps, David Hopkins? £2.5m signing on fee? £20k per week wages? 14 appearances - 1 goal?

I still think Carlisle are the best side we have played this season, despite doing the double over them. We played well in both matches but were pushed all the way, particularly physically.

Exeter and Cheltenham both beat us comfortably, but in periods of the season when we had serious issues and were woeful.

In a regular season I think Carlisle would be a shoo in for the top seven, but it depends how the backlog affects them.

To be fair, every time we played Walsall whilst under Clarke you seemed very good going forward. We have conceded 9 in our last 3 games against Walsall.

Our forwards have forgotten how to score. One game you can say its unlucky. Maybe two but our forwards have not scored in the league THIS YEAR!

We got lucky with Watters but when we sold him we didn't replace him. We could of used say £100k of that cash to get a quality forward in but instead we've sat on our hands and said everything on the pitch is fine.

We will survive but the team needs a serious rethink.

Well done to Grimsby. You may not be the best team in the league but at least they're putting in the effort to get out of trouble.

Casey

Ps I was listening to the Crawley commentators. My god a lot of inane drivel. They are normally fine but tonight I think they had been at the happy pills. For instance they said the Morais goal was a good shot and in no way was Morris (in goal) to blame !

That was the worst football we've played lately, but our first win in ages. Could have been 4-1 down by half-time.

Those 90 minutes may well be the ones where our season finally turns around; time will tell.

That’s a shame. I thought would have another stab at using it for an away game, after couldn’t get pictures previously and it worked for me. Glad I forked out the tenner in the end, but wasn’t saying that after 3 minutes!

We're developing a nice habit of responding well after a loss - won 5 drawn 1 lost 1 I'm games after our 7 defeats this season. We also have a habit of doing the opposite of what I expect as I had written off today as a loss before we even started.

It didn't sound particularly pretty, but with two of our three CBs and arguably our best two CMs injured, plus our best player full stop Hussey going off injured, it was never going to be. Great result, but we have so many injuries to key players I can't see us keeping our top 3 place at the moment.
