Pretty uneventful 0-0, even though we only had 1 shot on target it was nice to keep a clean sheet and not lose. Fair play to the 100+ Fleetwood fans who made the trip, that’s a big trek with nothing to play for on a Tuesday night.

Every keeper wastes time at vale but never get booked but vale get penalised for it everytime. Same with refs every team gets homer refs apart from us we get no luck with anything. Ref couldn't wait give that penalty. I'm going be right we will lose every game, get relegated and it will be due to corrupt officials.
Sorry but are you seriously suggesting that wasn’t a penalty? We didn’t even appeal behind the goal, we celebrated. The ref couldn’t not give that. Absolute stonewall and if it wasn’t given for your lot in that exact scenario you’d be screaming fix. 100% a penalty. The only one this season more blatant was the barnsley one on the line against Burton a couple weeks ago which wasn’t given.

Ah so that’s why they were running around celebrating at the end and throwing Scott Brown up in the air. I was wondering what was going on, teams rarely celebrate draws against us.

Vale were better than I thought but my god there’s nothing better than getting a late winner against a side wasting time from the first minute. Was a stonewaller of a pen too. Squeaky bum time though. Credit to Plymouth too. Some turn around that! Posh and Barnsley next…

I am completely baffled hearing about players running around and throwing Scott Brown in the air. Is this a wind up because it's a good one

For what it’s worth, for all the whinging about the ref, Port Vale were arguably the most organised side to have come to our place all season. Very resolute to a man. I thought they were excellent.

We deserved to win. But Vale didn’t deserve to lose. If that makes sense?

They were apparently celebrating winning the 1FF mid-table trophy ;)

Seriously though, although it wasn’t that eventful I thought both sides battled well. You had more of it, but lacked a bit of cutting edge. Silly booking for Rooney, he’s got 19 (!) this season apparently.

Yeah it’s the most blatant or at the very least thinly disguised can remember from us especially from Stone. And for a long time it worked a treat. End of the day the better team won despite all that.

Shame we haven’t been so organised for the previous 40 odd games!

What does piss me off based on tonight it is clear that they did down tools for DC in recent weeks.

Once the season is over that needs a huge inquest.

The trouble is, we've had that said about us a few times this season....usually without the points return. We have played quite a few decent games but we struggle to score more than 1 and let in numerous goals.

Another piss poor performance against one of the worst teams in the division who really should have beaten us. Absolute shitshow of a season, so many of these players just aren't good enough.
How shite must the rest of them be then. Thats our 8th game unbeaten..We're not far of having a good side

Sorry, I think you'll find that was us
If you’d finished in one of the hallowed true mid-table spots of 12th or 13th, then you’d have been in with a shout.

There’s always next season etc.

But 14th is equidistant between 6th and 21st. 12th is clearly too high

He was itching to give them something. If it hadn't have been stonewall he'd have still given it.
He quite literally turned down two handball shouts in the 5 seconds before the stonewall. I was stood 15 yards away and the second shout was a penalty. He actually has his arm about a yard away from his body and was on the floor. So the ref really should have given that. But he didn’t. 2 seconds later was impossible not to give.

The first wasn’t a pen imo and the third was obviously a stonewall penalty.

I haven't seen the penalty and I have no interest in seeing it. What I'm saying is when you have 29k home fans screaming for everything every home game then these decisions go in your favour everytime. It's the same with timewasting when we go places like Bradford for example if you take longer than 2 seconds on a throw or goalkick then your in the book. But when at vale Infront of 5k and all them empty seats when you get appealing for anything you get nothing. In the last 7 games we have conceded 5 penalties and had 4 players sent off. We have also been the team that has conceded the most penalties in the league this season.

We wouldn't get that at vale park we get nothing and get cheated everytime. You get loads of penalties because your a big club we get sod all cos were the smallest club in the league.
There’s been plenty of postings since this post but I meant to reply to this last night!

You’re completely incorrect there. You’re more likely to get a penalty when you’re in the oppositions penalty area.. We had all 10 outfield players in your third of pitch for the majority of the game, with Woolfenden regularly being the player trying to find a pass through your resolute defence. We went months at one point without being given a penalty, home or away.

The Port Vale team were by far the most organised at stopping us, our team were constantly second to the ball, struggled to find an opening moving forward and weren’t given much time at all before losing out to the ball (particularly in the first half). They also played to our weaknesses during their attacks by having the ball in the air. We struggle massively against that. A great goal scored.

With no time wasting, it is a funny one. A team can do it when it’s level and the ref brushes it over but as soon as you go ahead, if the winning team tries it, a booking is given much more easily.

The frustration for me with the penalty was Mal sticking his hand up, not the referee giving it, it’s a pen, if he doesn’t stick his hand up we get a deserved point for our heroic efforts against all the odds with a decimated XI so it’s a real sickener as Ipswich we’re not going to win it without that moment of madness.

It’s just typical of Vale this season and one of the posters pre game said we’d probably get the lead and then have a brain fart and cost ourselves which is what happened to a tee!

As mentioned late on at Vale Park we whipped a cross in that was a stone wall hand ball late on against Ipswich and that wasn’t given so what I think Andy is trying to say is they are the ones that you don't always get as a “smaller club”. The strong penalty shout on Wozza first half he likely gives if its the other way.

With the players we had available I expected an absolute pasting, especially when we debut a 17 year old youth winger in a two man central midfield against the likes of Broadhead and Morsy so chuffed with the character and effort last night, even Massey ran around! Leaves a sour taste though as confirms what we knew all along, they shafted DC downing tools.

Not many teams possibly outside the big guns have given Ipswich two huge battles and made them really work for it so got to take the positives, the fact I’m gutted to lose that after expecting to be worn like a glove gives me hope we can find the points needed, but need to keep that level up.

As for the time wasting as mentioned we’ve been suffering that all season at home so I am pleased Crosby has recognised that we need to be more streetwise, we’ve been at a massive disadvantage not doing it.

got proper wycombed last night but we only have ourselves to blame, we had the chances but just didn’t take them, lankester has to score his chance in the 1st half as does knibbs really but it really was shocking defending for the 1st goal, the free kick did look very soft from where I was sitting mind.

We huffed and puffed 2nd half but made too many changes really and we lost a bit of rhythm late on.

Wheeler looked very very good for Wycombe, really impressed by him but as a team I hate them, just a horrible team to watch.

An excellent chance for what? I assume a 0-0 draw? It's the best we can hope for against anyone hopeless.
Well, the xG tells us it should have been a 2-0 win to Oxford. As I said, an excellent chance to win. You just didn't take it.

Nah it’s not up for debate. Can’t have your arm out like that and not expect it to be given.

Anyway take the defensive effort into the last three and we can get what we need to guarantee survival. James Plant take a bow tonight, not bad for his first start against the likes of Morsy. He will learn so much from that.

I see no issue with you staying up at all if you play like last night. When you got down and played it, you looked like a decent team, it was just some of the tactics that pissed me off but gotta do what you've gotta do.
