Although Pompey weren't great today, there is a nucleus of a decent team there. Their defence needs some real attention, it looked softer than ours! I don't think they'll need too much next season, particularly if teams like Wednesday, Ipswich and Bolton/Derby get promoted.

Today was another microcosm of our season. We look like we can compete with any team, often have periods in games where we dominate, but we're not ruthless enough in finishing chances (we could have scored a couple more first half) and we have a real soft underbelly and concede the softest goals. You could put your mortgage on Pompey getting back to 2-2 once they had pulled one back. I actually think we require significantly more work than Pompey if we want to trouble the top 10.
I think you're right. Defence and keeper is definitely where we need the most work, and it's generally what has cost us this season. We don't deserve a playoff place and we're not going to get one now. Macey has been good for us since we got him on loan in January, but yesterday he played like he'd been on an all night PlayStation session.

Vale look a decent footballing team, but clearly aren't great at defending a lead. The tactics need to be a bit smarter I reckon. They seem to commit too many players forward when already in front. The more savvy teams just don't do that.

Smith is a weird one. Never seen a defender collapse looking for a free kick so many times at corners and free kicks. I think he annoyed the ref so much that he ended up giving a really soft penalty against him.

All in all, a draw was a fair result and it has finally killed us off for this season.

Oh, and the battle for the autos is looking really interesting now. Wednesday really don't like Sundays (this statement doesn't make sense outside of football).

Sheffield Wednesday basically got all the teams at the bottom so they will face more games like this where they need to break teams down .

Fair play to FGR, fully deserved, we looked lost today and miss Byers/Windass so much, our lack of depth up top shone through today, January's lack of activity definitely catching up with us.

We have 9 games to get this right.

This was definitely what is known as doing a Wednesday though, every fanbase will feel the same but you expect your team to be the one to end clubs poor runs and said to my pal beforehand I expected us to do it today

Fabulous result by FGR, it's never over till the fat lady sings. I think it's too late for FGR but you never know. A good day for Plimuf, Ipswich and one or two others eh....

I think the lowest points total in League 1 is 29.
No, Stockport County got 25 points in 2009/10 (and 26 in 2004/05).

But looking in the third tier since three points for a win came in, the lowest final tally is 21 (Cambridge Utd, 1984/85)

She cleared her throat a few seasons back, when we were in the Conference, started to sing...but by the time she had made it to the top of Spring Hill she was a thin lady!

Positive for Wednesday fans, if there is one, is that at least they didn't hand points to a promotion rival...we can't catch them!

It's a superb win for FGR and a terrible defeat for Wednesday considering their relative positions and form. Wednesday will still have enough to get promoted automatically. Even with injuries, I doubt they've had to play a midfielder and a wing back up front. They'll also do what they've done all season and eek out wins when they need to.

To be honest, they shouldn't be even considering the possibility of falling out of the auto places given their squad and budget but if they do it's firmly because of their manager. Never in a million years is he a top manager.

Felt to me like Wednesday just didn't do their homework. We've got the worst goal difference in professional football and our left flank is like a Swiss cheese. But for an hour or more they passed it sideways and backwards.

Probably the smallest club we've ever lost to.
You need a few years in non league to be properly humbled. Bath, Hyde, Hayes and Yeading, Histon, Alfreton, Dorchester, Braintree etc all beat us over the years down there. Although it’s currently shit being a U’s fan, we do have some perspective.

Not in my lifetime, smallest was a league cup loss to Port Vale.
Francis Jeffers, silly boy, especially with who he nutted!

One of a massive 14 losses against us little minnows I see

At least it's one of those you can use for perspective in the future when you're back in the Prem on a bad run or whatever, "Could be worse, remember when we lost to Forest fucking Green".

Bit like the way Leeds remember losing to Crawley or even Histon, who are probably even smaller then us

Bognor Regis was his last outing and no information after that, he was alright for us, remember him somehow walking out the tunnel at Aldershot scuffling with one of their lads!
