Feel we need at least a win from these next two homes before things start to get really ugly, we're slowly improving and still figuring out who works where, the 5 man defence looks set in stone now, just really need to get some forward legs in the midfield three and give Umerah some assistance up top.

Going for a hopeful 1-0 win.

Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
It’s a tough one tonight with Carlisle, on one hand with many players just in or back from injury a rest would be good, plus a week to work on a settled side for once.

But on the other hand with al the swapping and changing this month through injuries Carlisle need a glut of games with a settled side to get that linkage so afew games of mostly same side would do good.

Carlisle will create I’d say at least 3-4
Good goal scoring opportunities, they have each game it is whether Patrick gets his fitness and form back or is still not match fit.

Mansfield played well in every game so far really, including the cup against Derby, but despite controlling the middle of the park and generally looking impressive our lack of clinical edge in the final third has resulted in three points on the board which probably should be 7. Orient goalkeeper had a worldie on Saturday, to be fair.

Injuries are already stacking up, Bowery, Hawkins and Akins are pretty much guaranteed starters and all were out Saturday not to mention Boateng coming off early due to a hamstring not sure if any will be back tomorrow.

Positive is at home we are very strong but we really need a player to actually score a goal from open play, would be handy.

If we carry on playing as we have done we will be fine, just need the finishing as you mention.

Clough knows he needs a CB and another forward as do we, it’d be criminal if we don’t get them

Any insight from anyone as to why Doncaster are 3/1 against Stockport tonight?

Tbh, that sounds like you for the past couple of seasons. Granted, I can only really comment on you at the CG, but dominating and losing seems to be a bit of a trait.

Yeah it’s a fair comment, we had many chip in last season but with Clough not playing our midfielders likely to score like Lapslie and Oates struggling in upfront it’s made it clear we need a striker in asap.

Team needs tweaking. Reed is a liability atm - get Clayton in there. Williams hasn’t done much - get Darcy in there.

2 big pluses are Khan and Wakeling. Although Carlisle missed a few sitters Saturday, so did we.
How can you say Reed is a liability. You have on this, and other forums, questioned his body language. I'm surprised how you can read his body language considering the closest that you've got a game recently is from your tv screen? Whilst Read hasn't hit the heights of last season to say he needs dropping is daft in my opinion

I’ve never seen a player play so many misplaced passes in 3 games - 1 game off it is fair enough, but 3 consecutive games? Very nearly scored an OG at Harrogate with a casual, overhit backpass.

If we don’t off load him in the next 2 weeks, maybe he’ll screw his head back on with the realisation he’s going nowhere.

Either way he’s worse than useless at the moment.

The game against Tranmere six months ago is the only time in the last NINETEEN home league games that Hartlepool have scored the opening goal. And even that was a Peter Clarke own goal. We really do need to do something to turn our wretched Vic form around. It seems so long ago that we had one of the best home records in the country (it was way back in 2021). Much has changed since then, little of it good. I agree with the chief, we need a win from these two home games, and Tranmere has to be seen as a good opportunity for us.

Be careful what you wish for. There’s no way that we want to lose a player who last season ( which by the way was only 3 games ago) was one of the top 5 midfielders in the division

Our defence is our strong point and although we struggled at Rochdale until the drinks break (where Paul Hurst changed formation to combat their very fast wing-backs), we didn't give much away. I expect us to start a bit better tonight and I am feeling confident, if not over confident we'll win by at least two goals this evening.

PS. I have no idea how good, bad or indifferent Carlisle are, I just know things are happening with my club that we could only dream of when Fenty was the owner.

Hopefully Vigs turns in one of his stinkers tonight and not one of his worldies.

Hopeful we can pinch our first win but will be extremely difficult. Quite a few Swindon links in that Orient squad (and manager).

Forgot to add tonight's game is a sell out in the home ends, even with £10:00 Mariners TV availability. Things are really happening with our new owners and the way the club is being run; all good so far!

With Owen Moxon now reportedly out injured, we can now name an entire 11 of injured/not fit players.

Simons
Senior Feeney Huntington Barclay Dickenson
Moxon Dixon Charters
Sho-Silva Edmondson

3 of them are 10 month ACL injuries, 3 are hamstrings, 1 is a broken foot, 1 is ankle ligaments.

By next week we’ll probably be able to start naming a bench to go with it.

I don’t know if it’s sheer bad luck or bad preparation.

Are Walsall any good or have they just played crap teams so far?

Prediction: Barrow P-P Walsall (waterlogged pitch)

You might be right, haven't seen torrential rain like this for years!

Away at Crawley today. The only team yet to score this season but we have not been so great defensively so far, with Burge making huge saves each games to allow us to get to 7 points so far.

Hoping we play Brighton loanee Marc Leonard as he allows us to not go direct as often. Think we are in for a low scoring affair 0-0 or 1-0 either way.

Completely agree about needing a win from these next two home games, before things start turning really ugly.

It’s vital we get people in and around Umerah tonight so he isn’t completely isolated and finding himself chasing shadows all game again.

Hoping for a change in the midfield three tonight as well.

If moxon is injured that is a huge blow and we have a really bad injury list.

They need to get down to cause of this and fast, teams can be relegated due to lack of fitness and bad luck on injuries

He is, it’s just been confirmed by the club. Out of tonight’s lineup. Devitt starts.

My word our squad is looking weak. Injuries upon injuries piling on top of each other. A patched up weak looking defence. No physical height whatsoever. I’d be amazed if we’re not bottom this time next month.

Pissing it down, depleted squad, inexperienced physically small back 3.

This is a recipe for an absolute tanking.

Rovers play the same side that beat Gillingham, but again very thin on the bench in terms of quality and experience.
