Exeter is one of FGR's bogey teams so they must be looking forward to Tuesday's match to reignite their promotion hopes.
1618728772366.png

FGR bottom of current form table with just one win in past seven games and a new manager are the bookies 2nd favourite to win match.
A draw seems likely but that would not be best result for either team, so I'd not be surprised if both managers set their team up in a full on attack mode.
Having said all that I have a home win on Oakie's prediction competition and feel confident that FGR have turned the corner on their recent run of poor results.

Glory, glory Forest Green Rovers

A second Cumbrian away trip in 3 days so the boys are clocking up the miles (not sure if they’ve stayed up there mind).

Tricky one, Barrow have had a good run under the current manager and are no mugs but would love us to keep the unbeaten run going to build momentum into the summer.

We will likely make a couple of changes as we look to next season, Montano went off injured so will possibly see Worrall at wing back and thus either Burgess come in or a look at McKirdy to see if he can now showcase his huge talent in search of a contact or is still being a bit of a penis.

Pope may also get a run out on his return from injury, sadly the legends decade of great service and record breaking goals for his boyhood club may be coming to a low key end.

Vale will look to build on a revolutionised defence under DC, 9 conceded in 14 with 4 clean sheets in a row and only conceding more than 1 once in those games against the challenge of ex Valiant flops Quigley and Andrew.

An injury and covid ravaged Vale side put in a horror show on Boxing Day and hopefully can put that right in this one. Smith particularly had a mare but has been back to his standard in recent weeks and with the key players who missed that game such as Gibbons, Worrall, Legge and Conlon likely to feature you’d hope for a far better effort this time.

1-1

Imagine we’ll huff and puff and come up short by the odd goal as we have done all season against the top sides. We just seem intimidated by anyone who occupies the top four or five positions at the time we play them, no matter the circumstances.

For all intents and purposes this is a dead rubber game. I know there might be some mathematical way Barrow could go down but it’s nigh on impossible. With that in mind I’m all in favour of wholesale changes to have a look at a few different things especially with it being a quick turnaround from the Carlisle game. Give the likes of Worrall, Conlon and Legge a well earned rest also.

GK: Scott
RWB: Gibbons
LWB: debut for Ryan Campbell-Gordon
LCB: Brisley
CB: Olagunju
RCB: Smith
CM: Taylor
CM: Burgess
AM: McKirdy
ST: Pope
ST: Rodney or Swan if he has recovered from injury

We’ve been poor on Tuesday nights and after a tough game at Newport I think you’ll beat us. Would take a point now.

Another massive match for us on Tuesday at Grimsby. O'Sullivan went off yesterday with what looks like a hamstring twinge. If he's out for a period we'll miss him immensely. He's been my player of the season chasing everything, massive energy, huge motivator. Just hope somebody else can step up.
Grimsby, how do you think your side will respond to that devastating Colchester win last night?

Would definitely take a point, just to keep that 4 point cushion to Exeter. Make no mistake this will be tougher then Saturday, no offence to Scunthorpe, and although we showed good spirit we barely scraped the win.

If we play like we did for the last 25 minutes of the first half and the first 20 of the second, we’ll get nothing. Need to match the effort and commitment with more control in midfield and better defending.

Agreed. I’d be delighted with a point.

While Wes doesn’t run every game, his presence on the pitch seems to lift the rest of the team to a higher level - we seem to struggle without him on the pitch and I doubt he’ll be playing on Tuesday.

Lose this one and it would throw it wide open again. For the past couple of months, whenever we have put in a decent showing to bring about some optimism we've looked a shambles again in the following match so we can't afford to think we got the job done last night. Hopefully we will attack and take the game to Southend - we can all see that they struggle for goals so let's try and get in front early on and give them a mountain.

Hopefully the result last night will have dampened Grimsby's spirits a little too as, looking at their game yesterday, it wouldn't have surprised me to see them get another result at home on Tuesday which would still be a big worry if we drop points against Southend, particularly given their game in hand.

He’s a decent keeper to boot. Cracking save first half yesterday fair play.

So we have to win and hope Colchester fail to beat Southend

If they win I think 7 points will be too much to make up in four games. But if they fail to win, our game in hand means we could win that and only have have to get one win more than Colchester in the last three which is possible given our form of only one loss in 10.

We have a small chance but we have to win Tuesday and the game in hand and hope Colchester don't win Tuesday, so a small chance but a chance none the less.

You could do with him between your sticks.
You’re not wrong there! Townsend has just signed a 2 year contract too. Has been reliable all season tbf but that was a shocker.

It looked like it took a horrible bounce and changed the direction of the ball.

First goal will be crucial on Tuesday. If we concede first, we usually lose.

Not sure what to expect from us as we’re so Jekyll and Hyde. FGR will probably continue with their new manager bounce.

But, we have to win and then do the same vs Newport on Saturday. Can’t see it, but stranger things have happened.

Too many ifs for us at this stage. We simply have to win to stand a chance and then hope Colchester don’t win, which is likely to be a draw considering Southend’s form. We’re generally pretty solid but as yesterday showed, we need a lot of chances to score. How are Morecambe at defending?

Basically every game is must win at this stage but I think we’re left with too much to do. Morecambe are challenging for the autos, Oldham score goals regardless, Exeter are still challenging for the playoffs, Port Vale are in good form (atm) and Cambridge will be looking to win the title on the final day you’d assume.
If we were to pull it off, it would be one of THE great escapes.

We usually follow up a defeat with a win this season, but our record at Stevenage in the League makes our record at Crawley look top notch.

I'm definitely not confident.

We never win at Stevenage, in fact we never even draw either. We need 2 wins and 2 draws from 5 to guarantee promotion, I think one of those draws here would be a good result.

I checked our Football League record at Stevenage yesterday - it's bloody depressing.

Played 5 - lost 5.

Scored - 3
Conceded - 17!!!

Don’t worry - Stevenage are in the box seat for the Mid-Table Cup. They’re not going to risk losing out on the biggest silverware in their history by winning a game.

let's hope Bolton have run into a sticky patch. Lost to Grimsby and apparently weren't great despite beating Salford
Not sure where you heard that but we were excellent last Tuesday against Salford, players worked their socks off to the final whistle.

Poorest performance this side of Christmas on Saturday at Grimsby, hopefully we can bounce back tomorrow night.
