Quite a lot could be decided here. Wigan can guarantee promotion. Rotherham, with a good win will probably be safe themselves but lose and it's wide open for the final day of the season. Sheffield W need a win in my view. They have a hard match on the final day playing Portsmouth and they could be relying on us beating Plymouth. On the Sunderland message board they are saying that they can still get autos. Well, theoretically they can but jesus wept lads, there's optimism and downright cloud cuckoo land. :fl:

It will be an interesting evening.

Oh bloody hell, put the wrong date :ffs:

Great night for the neutral like me. Also league 2 games look tasty, and the championship too. Throw in the Man City Madrid game, and some non league play offs and it’s a good night of football to look forward to.

Love it.

Fleetwood will guarantee safety too if they beat Sheffield Wednesday. I mean technically Gillingham could still catch them but the Gills’ GD is 15 worse at the moment. Big game for Fleetwood.

Indeed, tomorrow night is a defining moment in Fleetwood's history. The Owls could fill the ground themselves, there was an excellent turnout at the weekend with a full house and tomorrow should really be the same
For all of us who are either pushing for promotion or trying to avoid the drop, we look back at the fine margins when an additional 2/3 points would have made a world of difference. If Gills lose their final game Fleetwood will be safe even if they lose the next 2 games. The bottom line to avoid heart attacks, nervous exhaustion and collapse is to get 3 points, or at worst 1. There are 2 hopes, NO and BOB......

We can get autos with a huge goal swing 6 points and results going in our favour. However i’m a realist and i’d take any sort of win tomorrow and last day as if results go pear shaped we can still come 7th. Alex Neil has us organised and playing well so hopefully we can finally win a play off final but we have to get their first. Years of supporting us tells me i’ll see us lose in the plays offs as per and another season in the third tier. It is what it is. Our season was threw way spending two weeks trying to get keane in. Lost a couple of very winnable games which would have had us practically up. Oh we surely know how to fuck shit up.

Obviously I want you to win against Rotherham but if you lose, then at least we know our fate and can rest players against Plymouth.

Come on Wednesday, I’ve always liked you since your Chris Waddle days and an FA Cup 3rd round tie down here which was my first time watching Gills against one of the big boys.

If you could just beat Fleetwood by the odd 15 goals or so that would be lovely. Ta.

So long as Rotherham don’t win tonight we go into Saturday with a chance. If they do win we’re relying on both a Gillingham win and at least a 7 goal swing which simply won’t happen.

So for the first time perhaps ever in my life… come on Sunderland

Do you think resting players is likely if that happens?

In my experience this scenario is discussed often by fans, but managers very rarely rest players in this situation. Most managers would rather keep the XI going as a unit, particularly against likely opposition in the very same playoffs that we could be about to contest together.

We do rotate a bit anyway so yes, I can see it happening with some players. Whether that will be classed as resting?

As a fan, I'd look at the permutations of who we could be playing. If beating you knocked you out of the playoffs and let Wednesday or Sunderland in I woudn't mind losing so much. I very much doubt Manning views it like that though!!

That’s a big win if Rotherham hang on.

Fleetwood staying up too as it stands.

Also as it stands, Wimbledon and Donny relegated?
They’re already about the most relegated of all non-relegated sides, but as it stands, yes.

Always thought it was stupid to give awards when there is still games to go.

That second goal was simply magical, what an absolutely phenomenal piece of skill for our second, probably never do that again for the rest of his career and he is 23.

I walked out of our first game of the season away at Bournemouth dejected because we knew we were losing our manager and coaching staff, and all of my pre season hopes were shattered and the best I expected was the sort of season ipswich had.

We were 13 points behind Rotherham at half time on March 5th.

Now it goes to the last day of the season and however unlikely the goal difference swing is we have a chance to not just gain promotion, but win the league.

What a season

Wow! It is so tight both at the top and bottom. So much can still change, and who will miss out on the playoffs?

Gillingham vs Rotherham
Morecambe vs Sunderland

Massive games affecting both top and bottom! Plus:

Plymouth vs MK Dons

We could be autos or playoffs still.

Any of Rotherham, MKD, Sheffield Wednesday, Sunderland, Plymouth and Wycombe could be in the playoffs and any 1 of Sheffield Wednesday, Sunderland, Plymouth and Wycombe could miss out.

It's utterly bonkers.

Any votes for the TV games? Plymouth v us and Gills v Rotherham would be the obvious choices, but they usually go with the team that can win the league, so that’ll be Shrews v Wigan, and knowing Sky they’ll chase the viewing figures and stick Sunderland or Wednesday‘s game on?

Is it one on Sky with another on the red button.

Probably be those 2 games as all 4 teams have things to play for.

The players need to be mentally tougher, 2 up and cruising, Portsmouth having 0 shots on target in the first 61 minutes and a comfortable 3 points and title heading our way, a horrific officiating error to give a goal, even several Portsmouth players stop, along with ours waiting for the free kick. Players still arguing with officials and one player stands on the ball and within 2 minutes, 2 goals from nowhere and then panic stations in a game we were cruising in. No doubt if the referee does his job then it remains 2-0 maybe the whole game, as the second comes about straight away off the back of the big error, but the players heads cant just go and lose composure like that, most of our yellow cards have come about arguing with refereeing errors. They are frustrating but arguing and losing your head just affects what happens on the pitch. 5 points thrown away in the last two games with big refereeing mistakes, which would have comfortably seen us win the league.

If the players remained calm after such incidents and kept composure, channeling their aggression into trying to get a goal again straight away, we would have been up weeks ago.
