Big game for us on Tuesday, I imagine there will be a few of our new signings starting.

First time I've looked forward to watching us on iFollow since the season began, but that usually means one thing.

Massive Tuesday being back in action. Given Newport's form we almost couldn't wish for a better reintroduction.

I know discussion of us potentially moving in an upwardly direction will trigger a certain Exeter fan, but despite having given the teams around us three games to build up a lead, we could still go top if we win.

Granted it will require Cambridge to lose to Salford and FGR aren't playing... but even after this we'll still have two games in hand on FGR so Devon Lad can shut up with his 'you're only above other teams because their matches were postponed' crack. I would much prefer Cambridge and Salford to draw in any case, keep Salford off our heels and would leave us a point behind Cambridge with 4 games in hand (surely enough games in hand to override the usual 'would rather have points on the board' argument).

However much they are out of form, Newport away will always be a tough game.

The fact Carlisle haven’t played since 2nd January and haven’t been able to do any training for 10 days and limited training before that due to our training pitch being fucked, makes Tuesday nights game a big ask. I think the squad will be rusty as hell and it might take a couple of games for us to get back to the pace of things. Not playing at all and not training much in a month is bound to have an effect on performance levels.

Taking that into account I can’t see anything other than a Newport win. Fortunately for us we have some room for error with the games in hand, so we’ll have opportunities to make up for the points dropped in this defeat.

With Sheehan and Labadie suspended we have little to offer in midfield so its gonna be a tough game for us to get a result. Granted Gambin played well yesterday and looks a good signing we dont have much else currently although Flynn is looking to bring a few in. Maybe Jack Evans will get make his debut in midfield.

Who’s knows with Vale.

If we cut the defensive errors out we will be fine but have games where we make some absolute woppers.

Already won at Glanford Park in the cup so hopefully a repeat.

One bonus is that Gibbo should make his first start in 4 months and he is a huge upgrade on Zak Mills who has been awful so that’s 1/4 of the back line sorted, possibly half assuming Montano is back from isolating and fit enough.

We weren’t great but nowhere near as bad as Xmas and barring two absolute howlers you expect of Brown once a blue moon we’d have been ok, can’t legislate for that.

Scunthorpe away and Southend at home, massive week with our fixtures for weeks after looking awful on paper.

Minimum of 4 points required or we may be in a spot of bother.

Hopefully Rodneys slight injury sees him recover and we may have the most depth we’ve had to pick from since last season. Injuries have been ridiculous and costly.

Gibbons for Mills, Monty for Fitz and Devante for Amoo would be what id hope for change wise.
That looks very strong then for once.

No doubt we will lose a couple more key players though instead.

looking forward to the Grimsby game - weather permitting.

6 new players in the squad - including 4 who are look like good quality with plenty of L2 experience in Eardley, Banks, Devitt and Davies. We'll either lose 1-0 or hammer Grimsby, hopefully the 2nd one as a win will leave us 5 points ahead of them and with 2 games in hand.

Huge game for us, we absolutely have to capitalise on our win yesterday and build some momentum.

We are still without numerous key players but Van Veen is back in training so should be back soon, if we can get another win without him it would be huge.

Yesterday showed the importance of getting the first goal. When we get the first goal we seem to play with such high confidence and play like a legimitate football team. When we concede first the team just gives up.

I can guarantee you that you will not lose this one 1-0.
Firstly we don’t do clean sheets.
Secondly we don’t score goals.
Fill your fucking boots.

We rarely win when everyone is optimistic and expects us to. Pitch will also be in a bit of a state, I imagine, so can see it being a scrappy 1-1.

Please see my post above for why that definitely won’t happen.

Harrogate impressed me when we met in the league cup, doing all the simple stuff well. But looked every inch a non league outfit when we beat them at their place in the league. They have strengthened their squad since then. Another tough game.

I’d take a 0-0 at Salford. We generally struggle away and Salford have a superb home record. I suspect we’ll lose but if we happen to win then I’ll be delirious.

Need at least four points this week from Stevenage and Scunthorpe or else I think we're sliding towards some big trouble this season.

Expecting a tough game at Southend tomorrow night. I rarely take any notice of anyone’s results, so I want to say that I think Southend have been doing OK recently - irrespective of their league position. Nah?

Hopefully we can continue to build on what has been work in progres since McCall’s departure. Still unbeaten; 3 wins, 3 draws - conceded just twice - 4 clean sheets.

Can’t see The Duo mixing things up, so something like this;

GK: Sam Hornby

RB: Finn Cousin-Dawson
CB: Anthony O’Connor
CB: Paudie O’Connor
LB: Conor Wood

CDM: Elliot Watt
CDM: Levi Sutton

RCM: Billy Clarke
CAM: Callum Cooke
LCM: Gareth Evans

CF: Danny Rowe

Would absolutely love 3 points. Up the Chickens!

I've just remembered that our 1st 2 wins were back to back games (Mansfield and Bradford) and our 2nd 2 wins were also back to back (Cheltenham and Port Vale) - so hopefully the fact that we won our 5th game in the last match is a good sign.....

Home to Harrogate is now a big one especially with 6 of the teams above us in the league facing each other.

Harrogate are a solid side and we saw their potential before the season had even started when they knocked us out of the League Cup but we’re a different team from then. Should make for a good game.

Get your life-savings on an Oldham win* - it's bound to be a bit after the Lord Mayor's show from us tomorrow night.

*I take no responsibility for anyone losing their life-savings if we draw or beat Oldham

Very tough trip to Salford. We need to bring a couple of players in to freshen it up but I don't think it will be enough to get something here. Got a feeling we'll lose this one, would take a point now.

Newport have been our bogey team since we've been down here but I still couldn't think of anyone else in this division I'd rather play right now. We could be rusty now but later in the season they could be back on form. If we want to find some momentum again then nothing could be better than playing a six-pointer against out-of-form opponents, much better than playing someone like Mansfield or Bolton. If we lose, like you say it won't look like a terrible result, and if we play well then we'll still feel positive, but the opportunity a win would present would be massive. To be out for three weeks and then come back, pick up three big points and go up to second in the table (assuming Cambridge are winning on Tuesday) would be a huge warning shot across the bows of other promotion contenders that we haven't lost the edge and a huge morale boost for the players. You could maybe see it as a free match given we have so many games in hand but that's what makes it enticing.

Well looks like we're going to be without our captain and our best player in Abo Eisa tomorrow, this means we have zero chance of scoring. 0-0 would be a great result but we don't do draws and our last 0-0 was November 2019 so probably won't happen.

Mate we don't do clean sheets and have a terrible record at scunthorpe if it finishes as a draw most vale fans would take that.

I think its something like we have only Beat scunthorpe twice in the last 35 years. At vale Park 3 1 in 2016 and 2 1 away win in the league Cup earlier this season. I'd say there's been around 20 meetings in that time aswell.

To be fair with some of our defending you could play the tea lady in his place and score.

3-1 was when Alex Jones burst onto the scene and Bruno’s foreign era looked set to be a success... turned sour that soon after!

One of those bogie teams, drew a lot, conceded at home then they parked the bus and as usual we huffed and puffed. Even probably the most underwhelming Capital One Cup draw when they were Championship and we were League Two after dumping out both Sheffield clubs, stupidly went that!

Just never know which Vale turn up, the competent one that took apart Bolton, dispatched Grimsby with ease and got a decent point at FGR twice or the shit show from Mansfield, Barrow and Stevenage!

I would throw Gibbons in, even if he lasts an hour to get minutes in its then only half hour of Mills.

Monty is back from isolation and we look far better with him so would start him, looks like he gives a shit.

Wonder if we will go 4-4-2 with the tight pitch, maybe Cullen and Guthrie up top with Joyce dropped. Cant defend so may as well have a go at them with Amoo, Woz, Taylor and Conlon and the two attacking full backs (maybe less risk of Eisa doesn’t start)
