Much better in the second half against Harrogate and whilst they put pressure on in the final 20, they didn’t worry our keeper once whilst their keeper has made an incredible save to keep it at 3. A solid win especially given their away form.

I said before the Forest Green game that the next three home games all in a row were important and we’ve won them all. Up to 8th and 4 points off top!

I thought Harrogate looked really decent most of the game - they even had us wasting time at the corner flag despite us being a man up, and will be disappointed not to come away with something. We, on the other hand, got lucky a bit... still plenty of room for improvement.

There is less than 1% chance Port Vale go down.

They're leagues ahead of Grimsby, Barrow and Southend, Vale's team can string 3 passes together for a start
Won 2 in 16... yes Grimsby will go... Barrow beat us (all be it our second string) and Southend had been in good form.

We are bang in trouble. Defensive stats are awful... take into account it was the leagues best defence after the 10th league game... those 16 we have haemorrhaged goals.

Smith who we expected to leave us for a Championship or top league one club stayed and looks like a baby foal all of a sudden after being an outstanding centre half for 4 seasons.

Pope scores for us injured, Rodders now out.

Then the managerial situation which had been left in limbo!

Stuart McCall - 16 games = 13 points
Trueman/Sellars - 7 games = 15 points

Things are starting to click into place. We have at least 1-2 games in hand over those 5 places above us. We have a few tough games coming up, so it’ll be interesting to see where we are this time next month.

As for the game, there wasn’t much quality on show on what was a difficult pitch, but moments of brilliance from Callum Cooke, coinciding with ruthless finishes from Gareth Evans and Danny Rowe, meant there was only going to be one winner. Southend huffed and puffed - had a couple of long-range efforts, but we were relatively comfortable throughout.

I think I’m in love with Danny Rowe. The guys right-boot is something else. #footfetish

Southend have had three home defeats in a week. Not looking good for them.

A very average game at Prenton Park. Harrogate probably should be ahead, but the peno looked deserved. Finding it hard to watch despite paying a tenner for it :bl:

I’ll wager you’re getting more value for your tenner than I am for mine right now if it’s any consolation.
I guarantee you were both getting better value for your tenners than for 90% of the crap that I’ve had to watch this season.

Very industrial fayre served up at Prenton tonight, all about the 3 points though and we got them. Onwards and upwards.

To the Vale fans saying they will be relegated, just ask yourself one question:
Do you seriously think that you will finish below any 2 of Grimsby Southend and Stevenage?
Not happening.

Reading through Bottega Don’s posts on this thread I’m presuming Scunthorpe lost then?

Well that's a hell of a win for us. We never get anything at Exeter. Up to third and finally a zero goal difference, amazing stuff.
Sounded fully deserved too. We don’t like Derek Adams for obvious reasons, but we have to admit he’s done a superb job and you’re definitely in the promotion hunt. Got some good players too...That Phillips looks great and Mendes Gomes too.

We’ve hit this rubbish inconsistent spell we seem to get most Januarys. Same happened last year which scuppered us. Our young players who were so good at the beginning of the season have burnt out a bit too, so hopefully Taylor will address that with another signing or two as the squad needs freshening up a bit.

Not looking forward to our trip to Carlisle on Saturday but this may be a kick up the arse and hoping we put it right with a good performance.

Take a draw at HT after two straight home wins? Have a bit of faith!
I thought that might come back to haunt me, when we went 3-1 up. Both this and the Bolton game we've rode our luck a bit, though it's meant to be the sign of a good team, winning when not at our best. Let's see what Cole Stockton's Morecambe can do against us.

The only positive I took from tonight was Gibbo being back! He has to start on Saturday! Must win game! A lot of fans screamed for 4-4-2. I’d like to see the partnership between Rodney and Guthrie but other than that I think swapping in Cullen for Joyce or Taylor only hampers the side. Smith needs more time spent in the gym, he’s getting knocked about like he’s a teenage winger. I wish commentators would stop bigging up Conlon. He’s the only one that looks impressive, keep him locked away for 6 more days please!

Southend beat some abysmal sides in Grimsby and Scunny to pull back but now they’ve gone turd again and Stevenage are pure horse shit, not a chance you finish below either of them or us.

Conlon was head and shoulders above again tonight. Lose him we are totally screwed.

Got himself about and arguably changed the game when he came on at FGR.

Massively isolated against Walsall.

Annoymous tonight.

Not great but far from the biggest issue we have. Will say though for someone of his height the amount of balls into the box tonight we put in he was nowhere near getting on the end of any of them.

I do think he and Rodney when he is back could be decent together though maybe.

He was never an aerial type of forward to be honest, prefers to be running with the ball at his feet - even if it does look strange and gangly.

We've just lost 3 in a row. We only won as we were playing teams around us. Our fixtures in February are horrendous and we will probably lose every game.

I'm not sure any Vale fan who saw the Vale 0 Barrow 2 game would agree with that....

So, Gary Neville has said Salford are refunding us for the late postponement. Can’t complain.

Just seen the 'highlights'. Looking back again, no complaints about either of the goals being offside. Our defending is woeful.
After games like last night, its baffling how we are the top scorers in the league. Not a single decent shot on goal. We are desperately missing Williams and Randall, though our pitch doesn't help. Maybe we need to lump it up a bit more.
Could do with the Carlisle game being postponed.
