Our defence is hilarious, going to have to be completely replaced, they’re all individually shot to pieces.

I don’t even know how to go about forming a view on Maynard. Seven goals conceded in two home games and I’m not sure you can look at a single one of them and say it’s not down to some kind of catastrophic individual error. Is that the manager’s fault? Dunno.

Definitely our most embarrassing home result since losing to Wrexham.

Fuck giving him time, that was a complete shambles from start to finish. Conceded loads of goals under Williams, but at least there was some sort of plan, some sort of coherent pattern of play, now we have the centre half passing back to the shit keeper and the shit keeper aimlessly booting the life out of it, 22 million assists from the left Jodi Jones playing on the right, and our 22 goal top scorer playing wide left to make way for some Gambian pantomime horse to try to play through the middle.

I do have some sympathy in that our recruitment since promotion has generally been abysmal, but Maynard’s yards out of his depth. Get back to the day job son, the Wi-Fi in Harrow is going the same way as our promotion hopes.

Good old cheeky chappie Paul Mullin I’ve always loved that guy.

That goal tonight coupled with his fuck the Tories boots mean that his blatant cheating against us is now forgiven.
Yep, always been a big Mullin fan here too. Have never had a bad word to say about his penalties.

Bloody hell.

Don’t give me hope.
You've got us next, lost 4/5
Tranmere must be pleased that they don't have more matches in West Country this season: FGR 0-1, Swindon 1-3.
We don't win away anywhere much at present.

Gifted the game to Swindon with our team selection. Think we'd been on top and the opening goal against the run of play, but despite Robbie Apter's quick leveller, and a couple of fluffed chances at the end of the first half, the game was all Swindon thereafter. James Norris at left-back was roasted by Hepburn-Murphy and given little protection from his team-mates, the final score after a one-sided second half could have been worse

It isn't. There's four players in that team are top three standard and a fair few non league standard.
How many of our players would you, Stags or Wrexham want?
Any uninjured ones, cheers

Delighted that Sutton won. Sadly I think it's too late for them.

Second half we were pretty good - albeit Tranmere were embarrassingly poor and you’re right, that left back was a disaster.

Not all sunshine though. I’m at Centre Parcs with the grandson who has just thrown up all over his bed and bedroom floor - didn’t even have any Guinness in him!

Proper gritty hard working performance from FGR, all the territory and possession and we barely made half chances, looked out of ideas, and the conditions didn't help.

I wouldn't say that we were lucky, but we couldn't have quibbled at losing that.

Nip and tuck time, top 3 comes from the top 5 I imagine and we have to play three of them (two at home).

Oh my! Deserved defeats twice to Sutton and conceding 9! The defending for all 4 awful, but the 2nd and 4th are embarrassing.

47 points is enough right?

The manner in which you lost to Shrewsbury was also pretty embarrassing, just the goals you conceded.

Exactly and at that time they could have gone for better managers with football league successes like Steve Cotteril, Darren Moore, Michael Duff, Gary Bowyer or Mark Bonner.

But no they go for a cheap non-league option because non-league is all they know now.

They really want to be different and stand out, so they can get a pat on the back. I feel sorry for the bloke.

If they'd have got Warnock in they'd be top 3 now. There was a fair element of brainwashing that went on under Williams which convinced them that they HAD to play in that ridiculously open way.

Maynard was a huge risk but no bigger risk than Williams was really.

No chance, midfield and defence is not good enough. Play/offs a good bet tho.

It should be but my original thoughts weren't far off you might as well give him this season now but at the end of the day it was a risky appointment ,and the blame should be apportioned to those that made it ,not this poor bugger

Can’t see that myself bud, the defence and keeper are substandard, though their midfield/attacking options are up there.

Their record alone against the top sides suggest that wouldn’t happen either (or be unlikely).

In fairness it’s really bloody obvious where they need to strengthen, but then what happens if jones/longstaff etc depart in the summer.

You're allowed to get managerial appointments (badly) wrong, come on folks you've all had experiences of that.

Losing Palmer was a big blow that we haven't recovered from or addressed. Then add on losing Williams and it's all gone horrible wrong. Didn't see both coming this season although shouldn't be surprised the head coach got poached.

Definitely still the entertainers in the league :shifty: :ffs: and sure keep things interesting at the bottom, everyone picking up good results and points last night.

Given the absolute meltdown of a fair amount of our fans, there's clearly plenty of people who believe that - I don't include myself in that for the record.

As predicted before the season the club has turned (back) into a horribly toxic place because we're not challenging for promotion immediately after coming up. I'm not defending the performance last night (or against Gillingham or Crewe) but it's not the end of the world to have a bad run, it doesn't need to turn into the situation we have now where the players and fans are going at each other like this.

But at least I had plenty of space around me in the Pavis last night.

I don’t know how serious the Warnock thing was, but yeah in the circumstances of a talented but can’tdefendfortoffee side it might have made more sense to bring in a more experienced head rather than dropping someone like Maynard in to it.

I don’t know if there’s any intrinsic reason why Maynard was any more risky than giving it to an u-23s coach though which is obviously what everyone else is doing.

Sometimes an appointment works, sometimes it doesn't and quite often ther is no real rhyme or reason. Alexander didn't with us and he seems to be working for Bradford whereas Williams seems a great fit at ours (but still has some bad mistakes in him) so a non league manager can certainly make the grade in the EFL.

You're safe so give him a chance to learn from his mistakes maybe?

Certainly think the manager would be hard done by going now. He could yet be a success. Notts clearly need short of the right players, summer rebuild needed and should be good to have a go next season.

I’d be far more inclined to make a quick decision if I was Grimsby as the new manager has made them a lot worse and led to some batterings on home turf.

Not totally true

Artell 13 league games in charge, 11 points, -11 gd
Hursts last 13 league games in charge, 10 points, -7 gd.

So yeah conceded a few more but gained more points under Artell, so not a lot worse, just not a lot better either. We've also played two more at home under Artell than under Hursts last 13, so blame the fans!!

Guess the point is you’ve lost some games to really poor/average sides at home and in a couple of cases been totally humbled. Maybe overall points total not dissimilar but I’d definitely be concerned. And Hurst was obviously sacked so those results were deemed not good enough. We’ll never know if he would have done better.

I think this shows that sometimes it's not the manager it's the players. Hurst and Artell both have promotions on their CVs.
We were shipping goals under Williams, let in 5 against you with O'Brien as player manager for a game ( some want him to take over til summer) and we're still shipping them now.

l see our loan keeper who returned to Fulham in January is doing us a favour at Notts County - Luca Ashby-Hammond didn’t keep a clean sheet with us and is carrying on that form for them.

Tbf if Nick Pope came in on loan he would struggle to keep a clean sheet too.

We are hoarding bang average , not good enough for this level goalkeepers this season sadly, just like our neighbours over the river.

With the keepers we've got on the books I don't know why we didn't sign Archie Mair, he's no worse than any of them and I'd say better.
