Interesting reading the Gills forum, some of their lot thought Harry Lewis was our weak link along with our centre halves.

Must be something in the water down there.
I think the point they were making was that you did, at times, look vulnerable from crosses in the box and set pieces. Even your own fans said as much.
Without MacDonald’s delivery we never got enough quality balls in the box however.
If you looked at our forum you will also see that the vast majority of our fans also said you were the better side and deserved the win.
No bitterness in the garden of England mate.

Crawley play well and lose.

We just can't win. We are so relegated.

4 clean sheets in our last 5 away games and we never looked liked conceding last night. Our defence has been very consistent all season and of course Lewis is in the top 2 of keepers in this league along with Orients keeper

Tbf we have been susceptible to corners especially all season, nothing to do with the keeper though, teams usually stick someone on him to rough him up then our zonal marking gets exposed. He actually did well first half to get his glove on the first corner despite being pushed about as someone was lurking back post, that’s where that stat comes from that I posted. We’re the best in the league from open play but poor in both boxes from set pieces, although it has improved with the introduction of Stubbs last few games. The bloke would be at a higher level if not for injuries, something I’m sure Exeter fans can attest to.

Have to pick out Brad Halliday, I wasn’t fully sold on him early on thought he gave the ball away too often but recently he’s been absolutely immense, what an engine he has.

Brynn at Swindon has been excellent as well. Feel free to argue with Swindon fans who would make the bench behind Vigs

Stubbs was sensational last night and didnt give Hawkins a sniff which neutralised the Gills attack as they didn't appear to have a plan B.

I don’t know what criteria you use to compare keepers. All I know is that Brynn is top of keeping out the opposition’s expected goals - well top too.

Doesnt say much for our defence mind!

Aiden O’Brien did have a free header from the edge of the six yard box that he put inches wide, but overall yeah I agree you did look very solid.

I was expecting a lot more from O'brien and Lapslie last night to be honest, both were hardly in the game. Whether that was down to us nullifying them well, or they perhaps just had an off night?

I'm one of the fans who took an instant liking to Halliday once he had settled in at the beginning of the season. Apart from the odd match, I think he has been very consistent

Very worrying to be outplayed like that at home by a team second bottom of the league who haven't won away all season. I obviously accept that Morris and, despite underperforming all season, Hemmings have been missed and that our recruitment has left a lot to be desired going forward, but Mellon's failed to react positively all season. Whenever we've conceded first, that's generally been game over, and I couldn't see us getting anything if Crawley had deservedly snuck ahead at any point before Jordan Turnbull decided to take matters into his own hands. End of the season can't come quick enough.
I am not sure what Mellon could do differently with the group of players available last night. We played two wingers and there was plenty of attacking intent in the starting line up, but our strikers could not hit a barn door and carry very little genuine threat.

It was the famed resilience and battling qualities of Mellon's teams that won us the points, similar to Stevenage on Saturday. Under a lesser manager we could be in a relegation battle with this squad.

An amalgamation of clean sheets, xGA+/- and save %. Brynn is top in xGA+/-, Vigouroux in the other two. Lewis is top three in all of the categories.

Like you I’m in the Halliday fan club, although I need to stop calling him Andy! And have defended him on Bantam talk to the hilt. Even earlier seat don’t think he was so bad considering he’d been out a year. We’ve had the likes of Threlkeld and Mellor in recent years, we should be grateful we have someone who doesn’t trip over their own shoelaces let alone is our top assister as well!

My favourite lot are the Twitter ones. "Doesn't anyone else think Halliday never gets forward?" "Why does Halliday never get over the halfway line?" Errrrrr.

Sorry to say this -- But I reckon if Crawley get relegated we will never see them again in the Football league.

Halliday has had a very good season. Although the resident clown who sits behind me at VP shouted "get Hendrie on" when he misplaced a pass v Barrow. Worst thing is he was serious.

I Dont reckon we will either.

We aint got rich blokes hanging around and our current owners seem to have disappeared (nothing from them since just after the Stevenage game when he sat on the bench).

As far as I know there's no big tax bill hanging around so we should survive in the National league for a couple of seasons but getting back up...no chance.

Blimey, we've dodged a bullet with those cryptocurrency geeks. I always thought it would end in tears for whoever ended up with them

It’s hard to understand on last night’s showing why Crawley are doing so poorly in the league, fruitcake owners aside. Mellon in his post-match pointed out the quality of the forward line is one of the better at this level. It outstrips anything we could put out at present.

Yes, the two strikers were very good aside from the penalty miss. It must be the defensive frailties and off the field shenanigans ?

Telford will s ore goals if played in a two but Nadersan s one of those 'unlucky' strikers who has never (I don't think) scored more than ten in a season. All season long we have played with one up front and two wide. Any ball played forward comes straight back.

Our defenders are pretty good. Lynch has injury problems but is as good as anyone at ti's level & Tsaroulla would find a place in most teams. Add the experience of Tony Craig and club captain Francomb and it's a sound defence.

Our problem is midfield. Constantly giving the ball away and hardly any tracking back. You can have the best defenders in the world but having four players running at you gives you little hope of keeping a clean sheet.

Finally letting your player of the last 2 or 3 years join Gillingham and replace him with a keeper who has had 5 starts in 5 years means your last line of defence is up the Swanee as well.

Straight up cock ups from start to finish by our wonderful owners wagmi (were all gonna muller it).

I thought Lynch was your worst defender to be honest. Slow, heavy, poor timing. No doubt with his experience he knows what he’s doing, but to me he looked a classic case of a player whose brain can still do it but his body can’t. Unless he was carrying an injury in the game against us?

Most of our players were a little down on their usual compared to their Bradford opponent. I’d say that’s down to you guys rather than collectively ours.

I personally thought O’Brien had a decent game, without troubling the scorers. Hawkins was double teamed (and mugged a bit) and was pretty ineffective because of that. He’s vital to our style.

Our injuries (4 or 5 of them) meant we didn’t have too many options for plan b. You guys outplayed us, we’ll move on.
