Isn't the general idea of neoliberalism that the state does as little as possible and the market takes care of everything? No chance of the government becoming a massive landlord, unfortunately.

With the crucial caveat that quite a lot is spent on the police and armed forces (maintain the rule of law, protect the market) - yeah.

Even under Miliband I never really got the impression that Labour were prioritising housing as an issue. I guess we'll all have to struggle on with our EXORBITANT rents (not bitter).
