Looks like one last throw of the dice by Reading moving on from Paul Ince. Probably a bit too late to make any difference I would imagine.

The latest guess on our forum is that Ainsworth will get canned from QPR soonish, then would go for the Reading job - he lives around that way and one of the reasons he lasted so long with us was that he had a young family and didn’t want to uproot the kids.

No real change in L2, Orient are nearly there after their win today.

At the bottom of the Championship, Blackpool were the only side below 13th to win so little change there either.

More Championship games tonight.

In L2, big wins for Northampton and Stevenage, especially with Bradford dropping points and the Carlisle vs Stockport game ending in a draw.

Bradford do have a game in hand so could potentially make it a bit more uncomfortable for them if they win that.

Win for Cardiff last night with QPR and Reading drawing.

Only 3 points separating 18th to 22nd.

Looks like after tonight Stevenage are virtually up and like Northampton can confirm it at the weekend. Couple of close away games for me next season.

Northampton and Stevenage only need two points from their remaining two games.

Between Stockport, Carlisle, Salford, Bradford and Mansfield for the PO's. Bradford have a game in hand.

Carlisle vs Salford at the weekend along with Orient vs Stockport and Northampton vs Bradford.

Whilst I'd be happy for Northampton to come up, I pray to God that Stevenage lose their last two games and Stockport or Carlisle sneak in ahead of them.

Ideally would like to see Mansfield do it but losing at home to Orient who already had the title sewn up and down to ten men it doesn’t fill you with confidence in them.

Stevenage is one of the more dreary away days and that’s without factoring in the utter bellend who manages them.

I would agree as I hate Stevenage (and fatty boy Evans) but I'd fancy us to finish above them next year. Carlisle or Stockport - not so sure.

I would like Mansfield to come up, their fans were excellent with the game virtually lost after 35 minutes in the play off final and felt for them, also very classy in defeat.

Yep my thinking exactly. The greater good and all that.

Stevenage up, and between Northampton (away at Tranmere) and Stockport (home to Hartlepool) for third place.

Between Mansfield, Bradford, Salford, Carlisle and Stockport or Northampton for the PO's. Mansfield have to win and have a four goal swing on the final day regardless of what Bradford do in their game in hand because Salford and Bradford are currently on the same points and GD.

In the Championship, Wigan concede last on to draw with Reading to be relegated. The latter are hanging on with Huddersfield having two games in hand and Rotherham one.

Bradford can still get to 81 so if they win their game in hand in midweek they can make it a three was tussle for third (home to Orient).

Ffs not Stevenage. Doubt they’ll be here for more than a season so I’ll hang onto that. Hopefully Stockport join Stevenage next week as it’s one of my favourite and easiest away days to do but if it is Northampton, at least that’s one team confirmed in the relegation spots next season as they never survive at this level. Would love to see Bradford come back up too.

Blackpool I’m happy with as it’s a top tier away day. Wigan are just boring and will no doubt spunk money they don’t have to go straight back up. Hopefully Huddersfield join these two but I can’t see past it being Reading. How dull.

As for going down from League One, can we please get rid of the Franchise I beg! Would like to see Morecambe stay up but I reckon it’ll be Cambridge looking at their fixtures.

Don’t be so sure with Stevenage I’m afraid. Even when they finish in the drop zone they end up getting away with it. Just ask Macc fans about that.

Funny how things work out sometimes in terms of Northampton. Ended up getting a pretty cruel way of missing autos last season on the final day and now taken it to that point again. This time it should be more in their favour as at least it’s in their hands totally.

Yeah bonkers Stevenage, they were down on 20 odd points in the Covid season, get a reprieve because both Bury and Macc get booted out the EFL, even poor the past two seasons since that and have had a remarkable season this time.

Look forward to another visit of them rolling around and time wasting from minute one like usual!

Northampton just seem to bottle it, they up had they held on to a point? Got a tricky last game at Tranmere whilst Stockport have a kind one. Bradford have an outside chance if they win midweek as well. Last seasons memories will be causing jitters at six fields.

Wigan and Blackpool standard yo-yo teams. Reading would be interesting, we’ve not played them for a couple of decades.

Really hoping Blackpool away is moved to the Friday night and will be on 6th October - I'm taking my wife up there for our anniversary that weekend and reckon she'd be ok with a trip to the football on the Friday night if I spoil her for the rest of the weekend....

Really looking forward to next season, not expecting much, survival would be considered a great success anything more than that a bonus.

In terms of who joins us in coming up - I think it'll be Northampton automatically and Stockport through the play-offs. Bradford, Salford and Carlisle are all good sides though so promises to be a decent watch either way.

Carlisle were relegated with us from League One back in 2014, wouldn't mind them joining us in promotion this year tbh.

Massive win for Huddersfield at Cardiff. Means they now just need a point for survival. With two home games remaining (Reading and an already celebrating Sheff U) you would fancy them to do that. Could now be all over bar the shouting in midweek if Rotherham also pick up a point with their GD (they have Boro who are locked into their playoff position).

Can’t say as Reading is the most exciting of opponents if they come down. Been a long time but seem to remember the Madejski being a fair old walk from the station.

Congrats on your promotion yesterday. As much as he’s a dislikable character, Evans has clearly done a great job there and your promotion looks fully deserved as you’ve been in and around the automatics all season.

Is it me or has Evans lost weight?

Congrats to Rotherham for not ending up in this league next season. Down to Huddersfield v Reading on the final day which the latter have to win. Would say as a pure estimate it’s about 80% going to be Reading who drop now.

Huddersfield play Sheffield Utd on Thursday who have nothing to play for - could be all over before the final day
