Still early days, but in League 2, Dagenham are now cut adrift by 6 points. I doubt Notts County will get drawn into it, but anyone from Crawley in 16th down will probably feel as though they're in it.

As it stands in the National North, the current top 6 are cut from the rest of the pack - Solihull, Harrogate, North Ferriby, Fylde, Nuneaton and Boston.

South, Ebbsfleet are 10 points clear albeit played 2 games more and the final two PO places look up for grabs.

Anyone have any preference?

Depending on where we are next season (we will probably finish in second and fail to show up in the play-offs, so another season in the Conference beckons). If that happens then I would hope for Yeovil and Newport to come down, Nuneaton and Oxford City plus any two others to come up, as all would be relatively local as away games...I am fed up with Kent and the North of England, too far away!

If we are to stay down (and it's more than likely if we play as badly as we did today), I'd prefer York and Hartlepool down from L2. Anyone except Boston up from the VNN and not bothered whatsoever about who comes up from the VNS. If we don't go up from the VNL, then I'd prefer FGR or Dover to go up to get rid of another Southern game. At the bottom, the current bottom 4 would be ideal to lose, with 3 long Southern trips lost and Halifax, Alty, Barrow, Guiseley, Chester and Southport all staying up.

Preferably anyone who won't make it too painful for our disasterous season ahead.

As it stands we're likely to lose two southern teams at the top and three at the bottom, which wouldn't be too bad for us. Obviously we need to focus on our own plight for the time being, but I still have preferences for the Doc Martens Blue Square Vauxhall Vanarama Nationwide Skrill Gola National Conference Alliance 2017/18.

North looks hella grotty as it stands. One of the first things I thought of when we won promotion at Brackley that time was that we'd never have to go to Solihull again. Such a horrible ground. What on earth is the matter with someone who designs a football ground like that. North Furby should no way be getting promotion with that shed of a ground. Nuneaton I'd rather not visit again in my life. Flyde are just ridiculous, but maybe it's my lack of Vision that makes me say that. Harrogant is a perfectly cromulent away day but I hope they'd be whipping boys if they came up. Boston United would be my second choice for having decent support, and everyone else is cut adrift.

The movers and shakers in the South are as irrelevant as ever, bar Maidstone United who I have a lot of time for. Easily big enough to be in this league.

Hartlepool and York down from the fourth tier too please. I support Dag'n'Red's football league tenure in every way shape and form, while Yeovil are a bit boring and it's a shame to see them in freefall.

Team I most want to see us play next season? York, no debate to be had.

I have a sneaking feeling ups and downs into next season's National League may be irrelevant to Alty. Over the past couple of months I've been trying to rationalise the prospect of relegation; I don't relish the prospect of a few years (potentially) of near-total obscurity, or reduced crowds, but there would be a lot of local away games, and no doubt a shake-up of the squad and management, which I think wouldn't be a bad thing.

York down from L2 would be superb for me for obvious reasons, as would Harrogate/Boston up from the North. Conference South is full of unremarkable clubs so not bothered there.

Have a feeling it'll be Daggers and Hartlepool going from L2, Solihull and Ebbsfleet up plus any two via the play-offs.

It looks like we will be here next season i would rather dagenham and one other possibly york down as they are likely to have the worst resources

If we win the league, I'd like to see Gosport come up with us.

Not bothered about the North as long as it's a new ground for me (stay down Tamworth and Nuneaton - I've not even looked at that table for a while).

Wouldn't mind going to Yeovil.

On the very big IF we stay up...

Would like York down obviously and then one of Daggers or Hartlepool, the former selfishly and the second because it's better for the club.

Coming up, I'd like Boston and all the other options look absolutely dreadful.

Same for the South, no one inspiring whatsoever, but Dartford is a nice ground. This is assuming Ebbsfleet will be adding the catalogue of bankrolled clubs... sigh...

60% hard standing. Drab. Low elevation and poor vantage points. Lacks character. Fully out of town and out of walking range of any pub. No atmosphere.

Not an attack on the fans or even Solihull Motors as a club, as I know you have loads of junior teams and are really active in the town, which is fantastic and one thing where we fall well short. I also appreciate Motors have invested well with the likes of Bogle coming through, rather than doing an AFC Flyde. But I swear Damson Park is a rubbish ground.

If we're going to potentially lose Cheltenham, FGR and Torquay, I'd rather not replace them with other long trip so Yeovil and Newport can stay where they are! York's an obvious one for a local game and Hartlepool isn't a bad trip. Barnet down wouldn't be the end of the world either!

Further down, I don't know too much about most of them to be fair. North, I'd probably plump for Solihull and Harrogate (with the Simon Weaver connection) but 4 of the potential 6 are bankrolled I think?

I think we've got posters of the top 3 South sides? 2 of them would be good in that respect! The two furthest northern, southern teams would be ideal for travelling purposes!

I'd like York down with Daggenham, York mostly because it's a good away day and we have far more chance of meeting sides that drop to the conference, Daggehnahm because they will come down and won't be arrogant about their place relative to the conference and we can forgo the normal "piss this tinpot league"/"none of our fans were serious about it" cycle of crap.

For those not picked - Stevenage is a shit-hole I wouldn't wish on anyone (terrible place for a day out, nobody has ever looked forwards to an away game there), Yeovil is far away from anything useful, I also kind of like them being in the league for no apparent reason. Hartlepool, as well as being ridiculously far North, would be another team who argue if they are the biggest down here or not (which is a very boring conversation we could do without more of). Newport have only just escaped and I'd like to see them have longer to try and sustain league football.

To go up - not Fylde from the North, not overly bothered by who joins them, though Solihull seem to deserve it for their outstanding season. If Alfreton could sneak in to the playoffs it might be nice for DSL, though I'd suggest winning games in the North would be preferable to a very likely relegation battle in the national.

From the South, I think Ebbsfleet will do it, but I'd like Sutton and Maidstone in the premier. I want to see what you all really make of football on the artificial surface when you actually see it in person, and I find Sutton to be a very likeable club. Nothing against Ebbsfleet but spending your way to promotion is relatively boring for a club I am otherwise neutral on.

I'm obviously far more interested in the promotions and relegations lower down. If people are interested (depending on how busy I am) I may try to do the round-ups I had a go at last season (steps 2-4 promotion and relegation issues, looking at step 5 promotion - though that is so complicated every year I may not be able to keep up!). A decision not to be made for about a month or more though.

For me I'd like to see Blyth Spartans and Workington come back up into the Conference North, and Warrington Town/Glossop North end to the NPL.

Misc southern teams I'd like to see do well include King's Lynn, Hitchin Town, Dulwich Hamlet, your good selves, Taunton Town (sorry, Tivvyultras), and Kingstonian.

Thanks mate. I agree. I would love promotion back to the National but only if we are going to compete, wouldn't want to do a "Hyde". Our chances of the play-offs have all but gone. Just too many points dropped to sides near the bottom.

On second glance, I'd like Truro up from the South. Cornwall weekender.

Nuneaton and Solihull from the North for me - got family in Coventry so would be good to have a couple of local trips to there (especially as we will probably lose Kidderminster).

From the south, anyone other than Truro wouldnt be the end of the world. Probably not Maidstone or Sutton as both would be difficult away games as I believe both have a 3G pitch?

Well, unless a miracle happens, we're heading down to Conference South... so on a selfish note, I'd like Ebbsfleet and Maidstone to stay put... if, and it's a bloody big IF, we manage to pull off the biggest escape in the history of the world then I'd like to see Ebsfleet and Maidstone go up from Conference South and Daggers and Yeovil to drop down.... it'll give United a 'localish' derby against our Somerset neighbours and give me 3 more do-able games.

*Edit: I cannot believe I just typed that I'd like Maidstone to get promoted!

York and Hartlepool down from League 2 because they are the most local.
From the North Solihull deserve to be promoted after the great season they've had, which would be a nice trip out too. Stockport have been well and truly out of the running for a long time now but at least that means we still get their cast-offs for at least another season. If Chorley or Alfreton could make the play-offs then I'd be happy to see either go up. Otherwise Nuneaton or (as much as I hate to say it) Fylde would be alright, although if Nuneaton came back up then we would have to gift them six points as usual.
I have very little opinion about the Southern division, except that Maidstone would bring the most supporters to the Moss Rose so that could be slightly more useful for the finances.
And to go down from this division - Kiddy, Torquay and Welling look to have too much to do, and I hope Boreham Wood join them although anyone but Alty would be ideal.
