Already well under way, and personally I find it more interesting than our general election.

6 Republicans already confirmed in the running with quite a few more probably going to throw their hats in in the next few weeks and months. Looks likely that Hilary is going to take the democrat nomination and pretty comfortably, which will be a big boost for her against whoever she faces from the lunatic right.

I don't think it'll be a particularly interesting race. Hillary will steam roll anyone in her way. The Republican nominations are lightweights and she has the Democrat vote sewn up while also being very attractive to Wall Street and the arms manufacturers too. I expect her to win relatively easily and continue the Bush/Obama policy of foreign wars and tax cuts for the rich, just with the odd socially liberal policy thrown in there to appease the progressives too. The only way I see this getting interesting is if Elizabeth Warren throws her hat into the ring.

I know u-turns aren't exactly rare among politicians, but she sounds pretty firm about the fact she's not interested.

The amount the Koch brothers are investing in the Republican race is fucking insane, btw. I mean we have problems here, but things are fucking rigged over there. There's not even a question about it. Candidates from both parties are quite blatantly beholden to a cadre of multimillionaire financiers. Makes a mockery of a democratic system in which politicians are supposed to be independent-minded.

The money in politics in America is beyond Insane.

I read something that Hillary said about putting a end to 'unaccountable' money in politics, despite the Clinton Foundation receiving a donation to the tune of a few million dollars by some uranium company that needed her help to get government approval to be brought by some dodgy Russian company which is backed by Putin.

Thankfully the UK is nowhere near as bad in my opinion, although obviously we still have our own problems.

I hope Bernie Sanders wins the Democratic nomination. I would vote for him in a heartbeat.

If the GOP manages to win the election, not that I will cast a vote for their candidate or think that they will, I'd prefer Jeb Bush to every other one of the current candidates.

The Republican field is bonkers. What are we up to now? 10 candidates? 11? Bush and Rubio seem vaguely human. The others are all dreadful for various reasons.

Heard Bernie Sanders on Bill Maher the other day. Really quite odd to hear a genuine European-style left-wing voice in the mainstream US debate. I'd like to think he can hang around and give Hilary a bit of a challenge. Obviously she'll get the nomination in the end though.

Macclesfield Town/Manchester City. It's complicated.
Jeb Bush is a full on climate change denier who doesn't like things like evidence and facts stopping him having an opinion.

"It is not unanimous among scientists that it is disproportionately manmade. What I get a little tired of on the left is this idea that somehow science has decided all this so you can’t have a view."

Weird, it's almost as if science is based on some alien concept of fact and evidence

In other news, the Supreme Court has ruled that gay marriage is legal in all states.

What with that and the confederate issue, could some states try and pull out again!

Is there a GOP (Koch brothers sponsored) candidate that isn't a climate change denier?

Well done re: marriage equality, America.

He also opposed gay marriage and spoke out against the ruling yesterday.

They all have to go ultra socially conservative during the primaries, their base loves that shit. That's why Trump shot up the opinion polls as soon as he started waffling about building a wall to keep the filthy Mexicans out.

Their conception of socialism is completely different to the European concept of it. Some of the tea party weirdos seriously think Obama is a Communist.
Well Saunders is a recognised socialist and I'd still consider him one by European standards so they have some idea. And some of them think he was born in Kenya ffs, not to be taken seriously.

He's certainly progressive left, but I wouldn't say he's a socialist. Had a look on his website and I'd definitely vote for him if I could.

Some moral majority nut bags thought that Obama couldn't be president because he was from Hawaii and had a vaguely foreign name !! These people would also cut spending on federal education . The irony is fantastic , not that they would get it .

And yet somehow he is polling second in the race for the Republican nomination.

Bernie Sanders emerging as the likely main competitor to Clinton which is an interesting one.
