They always beat us 1-0. If that has to be, please let it be a 90th minute goal of quality.

In truth, I'd sacrifice "not getting beaten at Sixfields" for a win in this one. We all know, including the team, that our best chance of both a result and a decent performance is not to concede first. If we can score first and early, all the better.

Legge is a doubt, which would be a potential disaster, whether Roberts or O'Neill came in. Otherwise, similar team to last few matches but Dunne should be back. I'd give Keane a start alongside him and leave Ledson on the bench - but, provided O'Neill stays on the bench, I'd be an interested observer with whatever combination we start with.

There's a chance of one of our lower gates of the season for this one but I know there'll be few new faces, including a Lincoln fan finally receiving reciprocal hospitality at the Wrestlers and on the Habbin.

Hoping for a reaction to recent performances and a 2-1 win with a 4016 crowd - but not expecting more than a spirited performance with the odd card brandished.

Be happy with a draw but i've gone for 3 points and as you say we usually win against you 1-0 which would be a bonus. Gary Thompson is back from suspension but Paris Cowan hall is out for the season and Bean pulled a hamstring on saturday so won't be playing for sure, could be 4 or 5 subs max on the bench.

We'll stuff them. 4-0.

(Prediction based on nothing tangible)

Generally I think the way to beat us is to play us at our own game, grinding negativity, keep it tight at the back and hit on the break. If you stop us scoring - not that hard - then you're halfway there.

That said I'm not dazzled by the quality of the CUFC squad - Barry Corr is a pain in the arse but is injured as I understand it and I think this is winnable.

We have also got our own junior/trainee PitA, little Sir Jimmy Spencer. Plan A was to dazzle, but that went out in August. Plan B may see Barry Corr (who hasn't played since early Jan) still finish joint top scorer with the White Pele, Sir Jimmy and Ben Williamson. I also think this is winnable.

oh dear...CUFC go one up, that means we'd have to score 2 to win. Ouch.

Wycombe players throwing themselves to the floor at every opportunity. The ref is buying some of them too. Embarrassing team.

Lucky with the goal but on ahead we rarely threatened Wycombe and they rarely threatened us. As expected, one goal was enough.

Nice to win one by scrapping for every ball and satisfying to get one over a team who are renowned for "playing the game" so to speak.

3 points off fifth. It's ridiculously tight up there now.

Hit the nail on the head. Even Sean Derry said post-match that he was pleased to out-Wycombe Wycombe.

Our midfield is our strength and that was them at their best, with Ryan Ledson going up a gear but also going close to wiping someone out and getting a red card. We had less chances than most games this season but it was still a very satisfying performance and win.

Oh and Andy Davies (Edit: or possibly Simon Hooper - see below) is just the type of referee you need if playing Wycombe. He made the odd mistake (from a fan's view on the terrace) but his attitude and reaction/non-reaction to time-wasting and falling over (ours as well as Wycombe's) was exemplary.

On to a feast of passing football against fellow mid-table aspirants Exeter on Saturday

Missed the first half due to train delays out of London, very frustrating, sounds like the second half was a bit of a carbon copy of the first though except without our goal via a bit of luck. Wycombe looked very poor and devoid of ideas, never really felt too threatened, role reversal of Saturday, two bang average teams again with the ever so slightly less average one on the day sneaking a win.

2 home wins in a row, so absolutely no chance we make it 3 on Saturday then...

Sounds good, I wish there were more like that, then we wouldn't bother with all that nonsense, and I'm not joking.

I've just discovered that he also sent off Ingram in your defeat against Morecambe - Andy Davies/Simon Hooper is/are fast becoming an icon in this household.

As for Mr Ainsworth, if I worked on it and selected my quotes carefully, I might be able to suggest that we could add moaning to his list of bad habits. Only because he (and Ingram) got up our collective noses the last 2 seasons, I offer, with only factual comment:

After last night - "“I was disappointed with how we competed. Cambridge are big lads and they are all over six foot, but we have to find a way to compete better and not let them overpower us.” Admittedly Captain Berry, the White Pele, (see my avatar) has grown into a massive lad.

After the Morecambe defeat - "....Matt Ingram definitely gets something on the ball, he claims he did also, so I think its appeal time."

I gather the appeal failed.

Edit: Simon Hooper is now vying for that position on my wall of icons. It seems the BBC (I don't buy a programme any more) may have got the wrong name........or his agent was doing a good job of profile raising.

Haven't we made up our minds yet on who the ref was then? Is it Andy Davies or Simon Hooper? I missed last night's game, but by all accounts, he did a good job, so well done Andy/Simon.

edit - sorry Alan, missed the highlighted part of your post :ffs:. So it's Simon then.
