Hope Popey has a stormer and gets 3. Top player. Fancy a Vale win 3-1. Burys surprising start to start blowing up.

Be as tough a game as Lincoln, MK, Exeter this, they are in good form at the moment.

We are an odd side! Clean sheets in four of our last five games but let 6 in during the other one!

Still missing Manny which is a blow but we have found a way to win without him finally!

The next 9 games after this only see us face Mansfield of the better sides, the rest against teams around us or below us up until New Years Day. Would consider a point a good result all things considered.

1-1 Pope and Maynard

Depends on the score after 20 minutes. Vale invariably allow their opposition about 80% possession for the opening exchanges and often it results in us being behind before we get going. The only way I see it not happening is if Miller starts, because then we have a bit more attacking threat. He changed the game on Tuesday, not only for his inventiveness but also by the fact that he constantly wins fouls, which means the oppo struggle to get a foothold in the game.

0-3 if we concede early or 2-1 if we see out the first 20 unscathed.

Sounds flat, maybe need to change formation?

What a win that was! Best result of the season for us in my view considering their form. Onwards and upwards!

Excellent win, unlucky with the clear penalty and Whitfield should slot the one on one away. Browns save was excellent.

Five clean sheets in six and three loses in 12 games I believe now so looking much much better than a fortnight ago certainly!

Need to create more but with key players due back shortly and a more kinder run of fixtures after a hideous set of games through October I’m feeling more positive.

First week with no midweek game in about five and one game in the next 15 days and crucially Manny due back in a week or so. Hoping we can push on now after a great week.

First and foremost a great three points against a decent team. There were a few things that struck me.

Firstly, what the heck is Danny Mayor doing playing in league Two? Far and away the best player on the pitch. We ended up fouling him to stop him. He'll surely be playing in the championship sooner rather than later. Half of the Bury players weren't on his wavelength, just too good.

Secondly, the first half we just sat off Bury and let them play it out from the back like Brazil 1970. We just let them walk it towards our goal. But for two poor strikers they could have been 2 or 3 up.

Second half they continued playing out from the back but we started to press them and they (surprise, surprise) started to give the ball away or kick it straight out of play. They didn't change their tactic and it often put them into trouble which was slightly puzzling.

Bury still huffed and puffed in the second half but tried to walk it in. Byron Moores final ball has not improved. We actually had the better chances and should have had a penalty.

Even so, Bury will beat a number of teams this season as they have a number of decent ball players. They just need to learn to shoot sometimes.

Fantastic clean sheet for us again, four in a row after the Lincoln debacle.

We basically have a gameplan to sit off teams for 30 mins. I have no idea why but Aspin describes it as 'keeping it tight'. It's asking for trouble in my opinion but it worked today.

Great summary . Thanks for your honesty.
Danny Mayor is special . He won L2 player of the season the last time we were down here .
Infact he has his own thread on here.

Well what can I say except what a thoroughly shit day yesterday was.

It was absolutely freezing, probably the coldest I’ve ever been at a football match.. I received some bad news at half time which made my day even worse, to the point I didn’t even want to stay in the ground, but it was either leave early and pay £10 for a taxi back to Stoke train station or watch the second half and take my mind off, I chose to continue to freeze and see us go down 1-0 losers.

You know one of those days you just want to end, I think yesterday was definitely one of them.

Fair post, but to describe our strikers as poor is a tad unfair. Okay Dagnall divides opinion but Maynard certainly has not been poor, five goals in six before today, including two goal of the season candidates. Byron Moore was one of our form players but has had a spell out injured, today was his first game back which may explain why he is off the pace. Although I believe he hardly tore up trees at VP.
Anyways, sounds like that 6-2 defeat could have been a blessing in disguise for you. Three straight clean sheets not to be sniffed at. If we can cut out our daft defensive lapses we'd probably be nearer the top three.
Anyway thanks for the compliments in victory. It sure as hell beat Harry Kewell's comments that we are a poor side.

Felt Bury would be tough, looking at your matches you seem to have drawn a few where you’ve dominated the stats like yesterday so probably just needs to click and with Maynard, Mayor and O’Shea it will happen sooner rather than later.

Oddly Lincoln haven’t won since battering is, we haven’t lost and haven’t conceded a single goal on four games. Funny game football!

Yesterday was the best result so far this season as that was against a side that will be up there.

Good to see the respect between Popey and Bury fans too on Twitter... compared to Pope and Rotherham it was chalk and cheese!

This will sound bizarre given the respective results but Bury impressed me more than Lincoln did.
Cluster of good players with Mr Mayor being the gem, have posted on his own thread about him.
Excellent turn around for us after the debacle against Lincoln, easier games on paper but as we know that counts for nothing.

Miller was asked his best opponent and he said MK over Lincoln, he described them as very Mourinho which I assume he meant effective and efficient rather than spectacular.

I agree regarding Lincoln, they're struggling to make the top 3 in away sides at Vale park this season (MK, Exeter and Bury for me) despite scoring 10 at Vale park in 2 fixtures.

That game was an appalling display of set piece "defending" but other than that it was hardly a mauling, we scored 2 and with any luck could have had another 2!

As for this game, Bury were impressive and but for an off day from their forwards they'd have hammered us.

That being said, we are resilient if we decide to defend set pieces and we have been creating 2-3 good chances a game recently.

A very nice win and a very good run to put the Lincoln result to bed.
