One of the 68 clubs in the National League touting around a sponsorship package at 450k per season. Can nearly get the whole league for that

See, that spend of about £350k a year for them is still quite high on average gates of 446 and high for the Conference North I imagine, bar 2 or 3 exceptions (Stockport, Fylde, Boston?).

Interesting interview with our Technical Director/Director of Football Asif Rehmanwala. More proof that we're not recklessly spending and now go about player recruitment in a far more progressive and professional way then most other clubs at this level, meaning we'll be getting proper value for money

We're clearly a club going places with a proper structure and a clear plan to get to the Championship. The fact we've now got a top manager in Cooper and his staff implementing a proper footballing identity throughout the club can only make us even better. Exciting times.

If by clear plan you mean "chuck money at it until the goal is achieved", then yeah, that's pretty clear. Your business model is based on continuous, generous, third party investment. You'd think a club like FGR would understand what the word 'sustainable' meant.

Turnover - £1.0M
Salaries - £2.1M
Operating loss - £3.0M

Yep, that's right, they lost 3 times their annual turnover. Their salary bill alone was over double their turnover.

I realise these are over 12 months out of date, but I doubt too much has changed.

Yep, that's right, they lost 3 times their annual turnover. Their salary bill alone was over double their turnover.

I realise these are over 12 months out of date, but I doubt too much has changed.

Certainly doesnt make good reading, only thing I'd say in mitigation is that during that financial year we had a massive turnover of players, clearing out the crazy old Hockaday contracts (plus some good players such as Matty Taylor) and bringing in Pennock's lot. We were still paying off players on 3 year deals that were long gone like Mangan and Barry ffs.

I'm not pulling these claims out of thin air.

It's clearly been stated by senior officials at the club on several occasions that the ambition is to get to the Championship asap, and a structure is being put in place to push us to the next level. If we go up this season, which is very likely, we'll be a very strong side in league 2 with successive promotions a realistic target.

People don't realise how professional and well run our set up is these days, we are literally on another level to everyone else in this league.

I'm sorry, but a club with accounts like the figures I posted above could never be described as 'well run'. What you don't realise is how easily the mini empire you're growing to be so proud of can, and will, eventually crumble.

You're living an unsustainable dream. Enjoy it while it lasts.

Very confident of walking the league, there will always be a Cheltenham etc who will compete. Chucking money at everything left right and centre does not mean your professional. There is nothing professional at all about a business making massive losses year on year.

You only have to look at Darlington to see where you might be in a few years. Good luck, your going to need it.
