Without going into a full blown debate I don't believe that Derby/Middlesbrough figure for a second.

Probably, I do remember some Bristol City fans getting tetchy last season though when it was implied that their wage bill was much bigger than PNE's and MK's.

Ours has. We have got rid of Ferdinand, Dunne, Barton, Taarabt, Caulker, Wright-Phillips, McCarthy and Zamora. All were on at least 40k a week. Plus, those who signed contracts more recently (Fer, Green, Onougha) have relegation clauses.

I think only Hoilett is now on silly money for the championship

He really can't win now he's supposedly bid for Gayle and Gray, because if we go for targets we should have initially gone for like Bradshaw, everyone will moan how underwhelmed they are because of the high-calibre of player we've been linked with, yet if we'd have signed Bradshaw 3 months ago everyone would have been more than satisfied.

Anyway, as for the wage figures, I'm surprised Brentford's is so low. Goes to show what a fantastic job Warburton did last season.

We don't pay particularly high wages, but there are very big bonuses on offer for good performance.

That wage bill doesn't surprise me. Would be surprised if it was much more than that now

In that case, I expect our wage bill to have dropped since that figure. With players such as Pearson, Kilkenny, Fontaine etc offloaded who were all on big Championship wages (proved by the fact we had the 2nd highest wage bill in the Championship if figures are to be believed).

Cunningham was our last remaining player from that torrid season, and I can't imagine he was on a huge wage here seeing as PNE were willing to take him on.

If this was season before last, you guys were falling mid table in L1. Doesn't make our wage budget look too bad. In fact, finishing second when Wolves budget was at least 50% more than ours isn't bad.

It wasn't that he didn't kick a ball, it's that when he did have the ball, it went sideways, and when he didn't have the ball, he'd get out the finger pointer.

As for Cunningham, people who said we didn't need him were incredibly naive and caught up in the success we'd just experienced - he was solid for us when we were last in the Championship, and we should never have let Greg go.

The research, which analysed the most recent financial accounts for all 24 clubs in this season's Championship, also found the total debt was almost double the division's collective turnover figure.

Bolton Wanderers remain the side with the largest debt pile of £182.1m – the vast majority of which is owed to Eddie Davies, a self-made millionaire through the manufacture of thermostats and kettle parts. Chairman Phil Gartside has previously described Davies' support as "humbling" but it's no secret the businessman is now looking for an exit.

Other clubs who have amassed large net debts are Queens Park Rangers (£179.6m), Ipswich Town (£82.4m), Cardiff City (£81.1m) and Hull City (£64.8m). Only Preston North End are in a net funds position thanks to owner Trevor Hemmings' decision to wipe more than £34m off its balance sheet during the club's latest accounts filed at Companies House.

The debt figure paints an alarming picture of the difficulties for many clubs to adjust to life in the Championship after dropping out of the Premier League. Combined turnover totalled £646.4m with a significant chunk of that coming from parachute payments to relegated clubs.

Parachute payments, designed to cushion the financial blow, currently total £60m over a four-year period. However, from 2016-17, payments will be made over three years instead of four, while clubs who are relegated after just a single year in the Premier League will only quality for two years' of payments.

Don't get me wrong mate, I admire his ambition of bringing the calibre of these players on board. However, last season he bought the best players in League 1 and it couldn't have gone better, we have a very good squad but I think SC missed a trick this summer.

In this division, we have parachute payments and the wage bill for most clubs as you can see are much bigger than ours. IMO he's gone the wrong way about it, but that's only my opinion.
