He's had another breakdown - this time because Aubameyang won the African player of the year award (preventing Wahwah from winning it for a fifth straight year).

"I am very disappointed...It's sad to see Africa react in this way, it does not give importance to things African!"

"I think that's what makes it shameful for Africa. To behave in this way, it is indecent! But what can we do? We Africans, we do not show that Africa is important to us. We focus more outside our own continent. This is what is appalling!"

"Even FIFA...would not do that!"

"Yaya will look after and Yaya will let Africa get by. As I often say, do not care too much for Africa because Africa will be the first to let you down!"

Aubameyang was far better than him this year, I doubt it was even a close race. Toure is a strange player, he seems capable of taking control of any game and does amazing things every now and then, but drifts out of games far too often. Africa will get by.

I think his major complaint is that Aubameyang was born in France and not in Africa.

Even Silkyman must be embarrassed that he wears the City armband.

It's not actually all that bad his moan, though it is a bit sour grapes, he did congratulate PEA on his win, but his point was that Africans should place a higher importance on their own tournament, in which he captained the winning side, than performances in foreign domestic leagues.
Saying that he didn't moan about winning it himself in 2013 when Nigeria won the AFCON with Enyeama as captain. In fact the c*** won it 4 years running, so obviously feels it's his award.

lol, what a child.

First says he's disappointed that Africa doesn't value itself more, and next he's saying you shouldn't bother about Africa because Africa's not worth it.

Imagine complaining that Zidane shouldn't win European player of the year because he's not actually French...

Macclesfield Town/Manchester City. It's complicated.
He's always been a bit of a girl's blouse. In the pantheon of 'stupid things footballers have done off the pitch' though, it's a big 'meh' from me.

Far more worried about his legs going than him having an ego larger than Wayne Rooney's gut.

To be fair like, giving a continental award to someone from a different continent is a bit daft and very tinpot :fl:

In terms of performances, obviously Pierre smashes it but yeah, I can understand what Yaya is getting at. Nothing to gain from being so ungracious about it though.

Maybe this award is like the footballing MOBO Awards?

He qualifies as Gabonese though. Is it tinpot for players to play for a nation they are eligible for? Load of players play for a nation that they weren't born in. The French national team has been full of Africans that might have won this award in the past.

Yaya is talking out of his arse.

EDIT: appears Zidane was actually born in France. Someone told me he was Algerian. :err:

I think his parents are Algerian immigrants.

Still a valid point. Patrick Vieira was born in Senegal and Marcel Desailly in Ghana, but both won the World Cup with France.

Meh, I don't disagree entirely, I just find it a bit weird that someone would choose to play for France (u21s etc) and then decide to play for a far inferior country at a later date. No disrespect to tinpot nations intended.

The fact loads of players do play for different countries is neither here nor there. I wish we had picked up on it sooner, as all of our neighbours (Wales/Scotland/NI/ROI, France, Germany) have been playing the 'ringers' well for some time. We've got a live one now in Sterling, but aside from that it's pretty unusual with England.

Anyway, I disgress. It's up to him who he plays for, and Toure (and Zidane) is a twat.

Yaya's agent...

"Pep is a great coach. But he has won the title at Barcelona and Bayern Munich. The truth is that my grandfather would win the title with Barcelona and Bayern Munich because they are big clubs with great players."

"I'd like to see Pep take a club that is eighth or ninth and make them champions."

Pep to City pretty much confirmed then, with Yaya joining Pellegrini on the scrapheap.

As opposed to the succession of coaches at City and Chelsea who have all the resources in the world, but still often underachieved, despite having so many great players of their own? No question its much easier to win the title if you're manager of Barcelona or Munich. But take one look at the likes of Real Madrid to see how easy it is for a bad manager to blow the same resources.

Pep would never go to Liverpool.

He was well into double figures for goals last season, which isn't bad. But #birthdaycakegste should really be called #youngerbrotherdyingofcancergate
