One team looking up, the other looking down.

Whitney has settled things down nicely since taking over from O'Driscoll. 2 wins in 2, 5 scored and 1 conceded against 2 relegation threatened teams. Along comes another, far worse than the previous 2. First real test for Walsall I think, a way to prove they are back in business. They really should be winning this one, but Colchester can be counted on to throw a monkey in the wrench. Beat Bradford, drew with Wigan. Can cause an upset if Walsall don't take them seriously.

You'd fancy Walsall to win this one, not confident of it though. Will we see a repeat of the crazy first game back in October?

Well we’ve been competitive in 2 out of the last 3 games, that’s an improvement on the last 4 months lol, although to be fair we played surprisingly well at Bradford (2-1 win) and at home to Wigan (3-3). Alas sandwiched in-between was a hopeless no-show at Port Vale (0-2), so it’s probably still potluck as to whether we actually give you a game or not.

Surprised you lot haven’t won at home in 2016, although your away record is amazing, so this will be a real test of whether your post O’Driscoll revival extends to home comforts.

Well, I'm not sure whether to be happy or angry. Feel really sorry for the Colchester fans on the journey home.

We just cannot play at home, unless we get some sort of luck or confidence early on in a game. If we make it to 0-0 after 30 minutes, the chances are the away side will score the first goal and from then on in we just lack confidence, any sort of fluency or routine. Make no mistake about it, we got out of jail today after one of the most turgid, lacklustre, bottleless performances I've seen in years. Truly atrocious. We didn't create a single chance against a team who will concede 100 goals in a season and be relegated. That in the first 88 minutes anyway.

However, from the second we got 1 late goal - it was a capitulation job, we could have scored 4 in the final 5 minutes - the confidence just drained from Colchester after Bradshaw took his goal superbly (he hadn't had a kick all afternoon). Brillant save from Taylor's header, before we smashed the bar and Preston lashed the rebound in. Just wish it was down the home end. Proper scenes when the second hit the net, mini pitch invasion, Etheridge booked for running the length of the field to celebrate and limbs flying everywhere - just wish it had been down the home end.

Still a shocking performance in general. Although this SHOULD provide us massive confidence and push us over the home hoodoo. Just not sure how we can be literally amazing away from home and so dire at home. Colchester were first to every header, first to every second ball, every 50-50, they wanted it more than we did, which is disgusting in our position. We are absolutely second best all over the park to a virtually relegated side. I thought the Colchester number 11 did okay. Colchester were hard working, up for and organised when it came to swamping us. They didn't deserve to lose.

Some would say this just covers over the cracks..others would say 3 wins in 1 week, including a massive hurdle/confidence booster at home is what promotions are made of...

Poor performance indeed but results are what matters especially at this stage. I remember seeing some utter dross football under Richard Money but we were never short of 3 points

Saying that I think that was about the last time we were any good at home :ffs:

Sums up our season. It's the same every bloody week; concede one and the glut will follow. The amount of times we've looked fairly comfortable in games or well in the battle, only to be two or three behind within minutes is unreal.
