Is the criticism of Bogdan really all that fair? He dropped the cross, but recovered it and had it kicked out of his hands, the goal shouldn't have stood. He's getting a lot of shit given he was on the wrong end of a refereeing error rather than his own mistake.

There were other times too where he set the defence at unease in the first half, a couple of unusual attempts at dealing with crosses/shots, particularly that weird punch out for no apparent reason. he grew into it 2nd half, but as part of a unit, first game in and the keeper sets the defence at unease like that, it'll have an effect.

I personally thought Can was the worst of the lot. Atrociously poor performance.

He's played the same tactic every single game for you so far. It's the same one that the German teams wised up to in his last season at Dortmund and the English sides have worked out quickly. :eek:bama:
Erm no, try again.

TBF, as one of his biggest admirers, I find he is one dimensional. His best attribute is fostering a belief within his squad that they're capable of that manic energy. It briefly worked with this lot, but there aren't enough players that suit Klopp (as many suggested on here before he was hired). BVB players lost confidence last year and he struggled to pull them from that rut.

good partnership at the moment* a top partnership is sturridge and suarez, dwight york and andy cole. I don't know if you realize but it couldn't of gone much worse today, so to entirely write off and dismiss liverpool's chances against leicester really is amazing. Even klopp said in the post match interview, liverpool could of scored 2 with a bit of luck (better judgement in the final 3rd) in the second half which would have levelled the game. This forum really is enlightenment for me, I didn't realize there was more negative fans out there than myself. Yeah I agree, the january transfer window isn't ideal, but at least 1 new player could make a difference by lifting the team. There is no point in getting to wembley unless we're going to win it, if we're not doing well in the league I doubt we'll win silverware full stop. As our form dipped last year, after an unbeaten run of 13 games, which resulted in us missing out on top 4 and were easily pushed aside in the fa cup semi by villa.

A bit confused, I shouldn't write off our chances against Leicester and be negative...then on the other hand we shouldn't talk about going to Wembley unless we're going to win it?

Leicester game, I'm being realistic. Moreno Vs Mahrez. Vardy Vs Skrtel or Toure and Sakho. I appreciate Sakho was back after 6 weeks but slipping every few minutes and constantly giving the ball away...can't use lack of game time for that. On top of how we have been so poor at Anfield and conceding on average 2 goals a game...unfortunately I don't go to Anfield on Saturday confident of beating Leicester. Klopp has a lot of work to do and I'm not expecting a quick turnaround. I said it before, we will have days like Chelsea and City this season but games like Palace, Watford, Newcastle etc will also happen.

I want to go to Wembley! We need to win a trophy and if we get past Stoke, we are there with a chance. I'm not bothered about FA Cup semi loss to Villa, that was then. If City are in the final, they have weaknesses and we have proven we can beat them.

But he did and they were terrific in the second half of the season. This lot just aren't up to it though; they are going to need a big brush to sweep a lot of them out in the summer.

There isn't loads that needs doing to the squad. The issue is that where we really need additions happens to be the spine of the team! GK, RCB & CM/DM are necessities, and as we can rely on Sturridge as much as the poor can on the Tories, we need really another ST too unless Ian Ayre makes a breakthrough in bionic legs. Depends on your definition of loads though, I guess!

New keepers, new LB (and new RB for cover for Clyne unless Randall can step up), new CB, new DM and AM and new striker; yep its the spine of the team. :D

Couldn't agree more but realistically left back is urgent. I just don't trust Moreno, he hasn't got what it takes to be a left back in Premiership. Too much pressure on Brad Smith expecting him to step up. I think going forward we have plenty of options and need to keep pushing them to get going. Coutinho, Lallana, Firmino, Benteke, Origi...with Ings to return. That's 6 players who I still think Klopp can work something out. Midfield, I'm not too concerned, Lucas, Milner, Can and Henderson...enough bodies there to last and improve till summer.

Ideally new goalkeeper, centre back and left back are urgently needed. Just wondering who is out there apart from usual ex Dortmund players being linked.

He's got more tricks up his sleeve than van Hoof anyway. ;)

I should hope so, he's on the verge of the sack.

From what I've heard about yesterday's game it sounded like Liverpool were playing hoofball when Klopp realised his trusted tactic failed him, yet again. The warning signs are there. At least van Gaal got the occasional result. :smug:

I see both of you aren't sold on Moreno, fair enough, I differ there. I think there's a lot that can be worked on with him and he's still only 23. Whilst he lacks defensively if he was afforded better protection it's less of an issue. Lucas in his better games this season did so and he seemed capable I thought. We are light in backup for both FBs though (no idea how well Flanagan will be able to return from injury) so I'd be happy if were to get backup there, but I personally don't quite see it as a key for the first XI so it's not a necessity as it is in other positions say, and solidify the team and it seems less of one, I'd not be to concerned about Flanagan/Smith as backup FBs.

We lack someone with proper defensive nous in the middle of the park with the physicality to go along with it. Perhaps someone who can control the game too. Can clearly has a lot of learning to do and has a way to go (I think he's been better at CB than in mid for us so far), Lucas hasn't been the same player since the knee injury so lacks the physical capability to do a long season playing twice a week, Allen is a solid option but little more & Milner isn't good enough on the ball for that central role consistently if our aim is CL. Henderson is currently the only CM I'd truly trust (and I thought he was the only one to come out with anything near any real sort of credit from Sunday) and in the longer term we need to give him help in there, but short term we can probably get through to the summer with it as comparatively I think midfields are a bit light in quality in this league.

I'd be happy to keep Migs as backup. Also, though being honest we actually know nothing of what he's like day to day, I struggle to find it a coincidence that both Mignolet & Reina have either stagnated or seriously regressed under Achterberg. I don't think it'd be difficult to upgrade on Mignolet though. Good keeper but not good enough for 1st choice for us, we've seen well enough to make that decision.

I'd actually like us to add a quick left footed wide player/forward to the squad too. The more I post about it the more it could seem like an 'overhaul' ;) but I don't think we need loads of new players and replacing over half the First XI which is what I'd consider as one, just building upon what we have.

Stockport County.
Would it have been cheaper to just appoint Martin O'Neil?

He also wears glasses, does "manic" goal celebrations, jumps up and down on the touchline (which is very refreshing apparently?), has a persona of being charming but is actually a boring, sanctimonious prick?

They'll finish 7th this year.
