Evening,

Some of you may or may not know that we have been planning a few changes around the site now for quite some time. Work on a new forum skin is and has been underway for a couple of weeks and that is slowly coming together. As the site has expanded massively over the last few months, we have already seen the 'upgraded' server that we are currently using (in comparison to the original) starting to struggle with the weight of current members and the plethora of new members that are signing up and viewing/using the site each day.

Myself and TB have been discussing the best way to move forward and after I ran this plan of action passed him, he was happy to give me the go ahead to proceed like this.

Within the next 2-3 weeks (probably the Sunday evening of Fathers Day - the 21st) we intend to move the website to a new server. This may lead to a period of downtime (perhaps as long as a day, very unlikely to be that long) whereby the site will be offline. When we come back online we will return with the following;

A) A New Skin - I have been looking for a new skin for the website for a while now. I spotted one that I liked a few months back and TB has been in touch with the developer who has started putting the changes I requested into that. Don't worry, there will be an option to keep this skin as it is for anybody who doesn't want things changing. The new skin won't really vary much layout wise, nor colour wise but it will be complete and at 100% in terms of everything that we want to run.

B) A fully powered, new server - With traffic only increasing (even during this period, the quietest of the year without doubt) we are looking to move to a bigger, more self-sufficient server that will see much less downtime and definetely much less of the lag that we have been seeing during different time periods in the last 4-6 weeks.

C) An awards night - For the prediction league, which will be hosted by myself. The awards night will be broken down into individual league threads where winners will be presented (much like the league forum awards) and then paid out. (This is with reference to a couple of people who had messaged myself or TB about there whereabouts of said rewards) and then we will announce the 'rally cry' for next seasons prediction leagues which will be broken down into 2 split seasons - just to ensure maximum interest from all parties.

So, a busy time ahead. Apologies for any down time in the next couple of weeks as we understand and see the issues just like you do and are doing our best to put them right. Rest assured as we head back into pre-season and for the start of next season, the website will be fully up to 100% capacity (quite a few little perks coming) and ready to fire.

Cheers.

Just to give a quick update on this, we're just about on track to unveil these changes this Sunday (21st).

We're at the stage of final tweaks and addons now, hopefully we'll launch within the next 2-3 days.

Can you put the hyperlink on the logo back to the Forum page, rather than the homepage, or have you changed that for the new skin?

I used to click the logo to go back to the forum homepage, so it's a minor inconvenience that it's changed. No worries if not, i'll deal with it.

Indeedio. Anything that members see for the next 12 hours or so relating to the homepage is subject to change... unfortunately it has to be 'live' for me to make the required modifications.

We'll open a suggestions thread for things people like/don't like right after launch. :)
