Yes I am going. I've never taken drugs in my entire life apart from prescribed ones. Theres a pub about 5 mins walk from the ground can't remember the name of it will be in there around 1.45 for a couple of pints before the match.

Old Farmhouse mate. Enjoy. Its one of the best pubs this glorious town has to offer. If I was an away fan in Scunthorpe I would be luvvin it

Orient have Mansfield at home looking to continue our good start to the season. Things seem very positive at the moment under the Jackett/Gallen regime. Paul Smyth another lively forward player still to make his debut is slowly on his way back from injury but is unlikely to be ready.

Any Mansfield opinions on what has been a poor run from the stags? Looking from the outside it seems there are injury problems mainly to blame for this as at the start of the season Mansfield were fancied. Are the fans still on side with Clough?

Still I think this will be a tough match as the Stags will be desperate for a win after stopping the rot on Saturday and are due a win and after our recent exploits expectations will be high and Orient are a regular disappointment under those conditions.

There’s nothing about orient which particularly concerns me and their good start is evidence that anyone can do anything in this league.

I’m much more concerned about our defence, which despite us looking more solid on saturday still managed to give away YET ANOTHER DEFENSIVE HOWLER.

We’ve had extraordinarily bad luck with injuries to our defence and i look forward to a match when we get a ref in our favour, we’ve had some real shockers going against us that you’d expect to see in sunday league.

i’d take a point now but imagine it’ll be another loss, i’d only endure london if i really had to, so it’ll be a no to me going.

Carlisle at home for Sutton on Saturday. Our home record since the Oldham game is impressive (we’ve won 3 in a row at home in all competitions), and we looked impressive against Hartlepool and in the first 70 minutes away at Exeter.

I have attended 5 Sutton games this season, including all 4 of our competitive defeats. I’m not able to attend on Saturday.

Salford away. They’ve started poorly so worryingly I fancy us.

I'd be surprised if there's been a worse showing in the football league than ours against Scunthorpe. Only reason we scraped a point is the fact Scunthorpe themselves were so inept and absolutely shit themselves when the clock hit 80.

I highly doubt Sutton will be so forgiving. If we perform anything like we did on Saturday then it'll be 5 or 6-0 to Sutton. Easily.

Yes, we are doing OK and (Orient apart) we have been excellent defensively.
I know Hartlepool won't be easy - I remember us losing 4-0 there, but we go in with some confidence and (fingers cross) with most players fit or nearly fit.
I'll go for a sneaky 1-0 win (Brown)

Ha, we need to learn how to score for that to happen. Unless we get 40+ chances, since it seems it’s like 10+ opportunities per goal for Sutton

Port Vale at home. I will be there. The bairn wont. Banned for urinating in the stand at home to Sutton. I fancy us as we are a bogey team for Port Vale. 2-0 to the Iron. Hope Allan Tankard will be there as me and him have always got on

I would caution that we’re probably a little better than some people might think. We’ve got the division’s top scorer and only let in 4 goals from open play in 10 games. Hope Clough is similarly unconcerned.

It's really hard to know how good we actually are. We're certainly a solid, decent L2 team, but our results may not paint an accurate picture.
We've beaten a covid-hit Exeter, an out of form Bradford, and mid-turmoil Oldham at home, and beat Brovers away who are on shocking form too, so is it a case of us just playing teams are the right time or are we actually good?
Hard to say.
We looked grim in the Harrogate loss, and Carlisle away wasn't much better.
Mansfield another out of form team it seems, I'll happily take the points, but I can't help but feel we're a top 7 side rather than top 3. Got FGR and Vale coming up soonish, they will be better litmus tests I think.

That said, I expect a win on Saturday, we've got good momentum even with a few injuries and we look really solid at the back, hope that prick Johnson doesn't score, but he obviously will. Also hope he gets a bit of a negative reception from the Os fans, grumpy bastard and the sideways-at-best move to the stags seemed a strange one at the time (and still does).

2-1 Orient.

Johnson come off the bench and scored in the last two, so potentially hitting some form which would be crucial for Mansfield, we can’t do clean sheets.

Yeah, I’m not getting ahead of myself. We’re certainly a cut above where we were last season, though, and I expect us to be in the top 10 all season. I like how efficient we’ve been at dispatching sides at home and we’ve been ahead in every single one of our away games.

Plenty to like about us and I don’t think it’s all about the quality (or lack thereof) of the opposition. Bradford were in great form when they arrived - their slide has coincided with us taking their souls in that second half. Agree that there are sterner tests ahead where we’re bound to pick up a bad result or two. I’m just confident that this manager & the squad he’s assembled will bounce back.

Bradford were not really out of form when we played them. I think they were 2nd in the table at the time. Jackett at the start of the season mentioned how tough our opening couple of months looked on paper....Bradford, Rovers away, Exeter, Salford away. He thought it would get easier after September....We shall see.

Agree regarding Johnson. This summer window was odd. Not seen many players at Orient leave for a club in the same division. They tend to leave to go up the leagues as we pay pretty well. Brophy is the only one I could understand. But Wilkinson and Johnson who were both offered improved deals? With Johnson maybe he didn't settle in London and wanted to head back further north and closer to home.

You had a pretty decent ref in the opening game. Surprised he didnt take the pen himself at the end

Wilkinson’s girlfriend lives in Coventry, which is why he went to Walsall. No idea re: tiny ginger Johnson. Maybe the prick took the ‘Ebou to Ebbsfleet’ option?

I know we have a pretty awful record at Scunny in the past but as with at Swindon none of that really matters for this Saturday. Biggest danger for me is if we let our guard down after two great results prior to this or start thinking ahead to the Orient game. Stopping Ryan Loft will also be a priority.

We look like we are coming together as a unit now. Still room for some improvement (which is an encouraging sign in itself). Defensively I think we now have our best three CB’s playing. Hopefully Wilson can pick up where he left off last time out, really starting to show what a good footballer he is. Very intelligent and his first touch is something you don’t see in L2 much.

I know it’s only 8 games in, but I’d be surprised if any club pulls away from the rest.

Maybe the January window will liven clubs up.

Loft has been out injured since the 2nd game of the season, you'll have to stop Aaron Jarvis which is significantly easier.

Probably just a lucky start, but as said if orient can do it anyone can, guess the beauty of the league (seemingly apart from mansfield!)

As i said before, you’ll win anyway.

What’s the Scunthorpe view/expectations against Vale?
I think the majority of our fanbase expect every game to be a struggle. We simply don't have the quality that other teams do. There hasn't been one game this season in which we've played well.

However, the team is showing a lot of fight which is a positive. I imagine the game will be scrappy, if we win it'll be 1-0. The team's confidence is probably struggling right now after a 4-0 hammering and then conceding a last minute equaliser.

I think if Vale score early then we will fall to pieces and get smashed, if we hold on for 0-0 until late then we have a chance of nicking a goal.

Fans moaning we want two strikers up top. Adams playing no strikers tonight. Lovely. Must be injuries.

One down at home to Harrogate. Should be two. All they are doing is crossing the ball and we can't cope.

Midfield is missing again.

Sounds like injuries indeed. So that just leaves Cook as our striker . Just glad he's getting a rest tonight because he looks absolutely knac...oh, he's coming on.

Well, they won the first 45 minutes 0-1 but we won injury time 2-0.

Bloody physical side are Harrogate. Jumping into players in the air, arms around necks and swinging arms. Refs letting them get away with it.
