deserved win for FG.

No arguments with that, bad night with port vale winning.

Very average from mansfield.

Which is why we haven’t won a game away at a top half side this season.

I think the top 3 will stay there now. Play offs wide open though!

Chuffed against that anti football side as well! They were a disgrace, spent all that money to just lump it and try and get players sent off. This team is ridiculous though at the moment. Keep on going Vale!

Few games in between, but our best chance of autos now is to beat Vale away. Some nervy times ahead

Still a lot of football to be played but this feels a key moment in the promotion race.

Think that was an excellent team performance tonight. Every single one of them played their part. Reckon that was Worralls best game for us for a long time. Martin was superb against that brick shithouse up front and our midfield and their pressing caused them a lot of issues. Hats off to all of them.

Very! That's what I like about playing teams still in the mix, if we get there we will have earned it. Also they are more likely to come at us which I think will suit the way we play.

Yeah it is a big win. Just frustrating that we had the injuries to all our forwards and the silly goals we conceded late at Dale and Colchester or we’d be well clear now. I’d but gutted with the levels we are currently at if we don’t get automatic promotion now which considering a month ago today when we contrived to lose to Colchester I was convinced mid table was it.

Incredible turn around and with Gibbons return imminent, DJ on the bench tonight for the first time in months we are looking in good shape.

The win tonight was good but the performance even better, it was a statement performance but need to put that to bed and focus on Oldham at the weekend now and not taking our foot of the pedal.

Go on the boys! Massive win!

That was a proper team performance. Every one of them dug in and worked their arses off.

It’s been a very strange season but we’re on fire at the minute.

Still a long way to go but it’s in on our hands now. What will be will be. Enjoy the ride.

You whites.

i think our priority has to be put enough space between 8th and see where it goes.

We’re fortunate enough to travel to scunthorpe saturday, before a home game against an off colour sutton.

Our game in hand is home to stevenage.

Vale are in the driving seat now though, for sure.

I concur with those who reckon this will be the top 3 come the end of the season. Final match might decide who's 2nd or 3rd, but hopefully nothing more than that will be at stake.

Was hoping Salford would do us a favour there and make things a little more comfortable, but not to be. Still, I've said all along if we're in the top 3 after this Saturday we're staying there, and now we definitely will be, so the night could have been worse.

Fantastic performance against a dogshit side that we've battered again. Every man was brilliant from 1 to 11.

Matt Smith is gash, Hunter is a cheating mardarse, and Gary Bowyer is just a massive moaning bellend, isn't he? Have that you prick.

More nervous for Saturday than I was tonight though. We always contrive to make it difficult for ourselves against Oldham. Let's hope we can get them back for that robbery at Boundary Park. We've already got Sutton and Salford back. Your turn, Latics. The anti-Stevenage love-in can wait an extra week folks, sorry! :D

Obviously it’s their problem not ours but Salford bring all these players in on wages that would make most L1 clubs eyes water and all you serve up is some modern day version of John Becks Cambridge or Stockport when they had Kevin Francis to launch it to repeatedly. Horrible team and I’m glad justice was done this time.

With that goal difference advantage we have it’s now the equivalent of us having a four point lead with six to go. Very much in our hands and that’s all you can ask.

We had the edge all night. We've looked like a weary outfit at times over the last couple of months, but tonight we looked strangely relaxed and full of energy. A very hard working performance even if clear chances were restricted. A massive result for us.

Ours is 114 x 77 according to wiki, it’s a massive playing area but of course the lines are moved season to season depending on manager preference.

The dimensions on that web site are supposed to be those registered for this season and I don't think you're normally allowed to change them.

May be an error but more likely Wiki is wrong or based on an earlier season.

Edit: Or actually, I've checked and it is 104 x 70.5 metres which is your 114 x 77 yards. Nowhere near as wide as Brisbane Road (or as wide as Shrewsbury, Ipswich, Plymouth or even Oxford). Definitely wider than ours (67 m) - which we've shrunk down to give us a chance to get near to these L1 Galacticos (the reason why I'd done some research) but it doesn't help against the likes of Wycombe.

Feel like I say this after every game at the moment but that is a massive result and a monumental effort! A bit of daylight between ourselves and 4th now, but I don't doubt for a second that the management team will get the squads focus on Saturday now and won't be resting on our laurels.

They were terrible at Vale Park when they mugged us but even worse tonight. It was clear they wanted to get someone sent off from the start and the referee was weak as piss but luckily it bit them on the arse because after two soft yellow cards he had to do the same to Smith and the cheating little turd minutes later… oddly then Salford calmed down the gamesmanship.

It was strange tactics though, all that money and it was aimless punts to Smith hoping something bounced off him for Asante or Hunter to nibble off. In fairness Hall and Smudge battered Smith tonight and won most things. I feared him pre game but he was just another over paid Salford Prima Donna.

Bowyer then just moaned and moaned, the foul of Wozza was clear and it was naughty, what’s he moaning at?!

I hope they don’t make the play offs as they were a disgrace, reminds me of some of the Westley Stevenage sides or that horrific anti football Rochdale side Coleman sent to VP in our last promotion season.

Charsley though… he has been magnificent since he got a chance in the team with Conlon being out and deserves that goal. The lad runs and runs, he’s got the Garrity engine but a better player on the ball and them two don’t stop going. If Conlon was fit now i don’t see how you could drop anyone for him as it stands. Sadly we won’t have that headache but I love him.

Feel like we’ve robbed Harrogate for Connor Hall as well. Give them Leggey and a small fee and he’s a roller of a defender. As mentioned on the pod if he had signed in August he would be our PotY but think Garrity will get that personally.

Big big weekend ahead, a lot of sides below us play each other and Exeter have a long away trip so an opportunity to cement our top 7 place and hopefully broker a gap on more teams and maybe even take second place and put pressure on there but we have to do a job against an Oldham side that we traditionally make hard work against.

It’s going to be tough on the old ticker these next few weeks!

It just feels like our year. The injuries, the Covid, the manager going off. It just feels like a fitting conclusion to the story.

I haven't felt this connected to a squad of players since the Rudge days. They give absolutely everything for the club, from the management through to every member of the squad.

Promotion all but sealed for FGR now. I’m pleased with tonight’s results. To still be 5 points clear of 4th with games beginning to run out is a fantastic position for us. Hopefully we’ll get the win on Saturday and get one step closer.

Very good win for Vale tonight against a tough Salford team. Mansfield will surely win on Saturday to keep them in the race, though.

Points on the board > games in hand, they said.

Different story when you actually win them.

Strange, Salford looked well organised and not particularly anti-football when they played us.
But they came for a point and I guess they are now realising they need to win games, particularly at home, to get into the playoffs, which warrants a different approach.
Not too displeased with the results, I was feeling a bit grubby wanting a Salford win anyway. Maybe if we fall off a bit and need a result on the last day, with Vale already up, it might work in our favour

Hope you get a lift from that tremendous achievement (when does the open top bus parade take place?) and take that into your remaining matches, particularly Saturday.

Nice for the young lads(who are probably the best players at the club bar the goalie) to win a trophy. We’ve not taken it seriously for years.

If we’d lost i would have put the club into Liquidation. It’s been an awful season but Losing to Gainsborough would be beyond acceptable. Horrible little club.

Remember that you have a 2nd cup final against Stevenage in a couple of weeks, not only will Oldham and Barrow fans be cheering you on in your attempted cup final double, but i'm sure fans of all the other 20 teams not involved will also be on your side as you attempt to assist in removing Stevenage and their hated manager from the EFL.
