As there's no need for a matchday thread for our game, thought I'd get the big thread going.

We're doing a retro kit day today as we're launching the CTFCFPA (Cheltenham Town Football Club Former Players Association). A number of ex-players will be paraded around the pitch at half-time as well.

As for our game, I really couldn't pick our team due to the number of signings we've made in the last couple of weeks. The only guarantees will be Scott Flinders in goal, Johnny Mullins and Will Boyle at centre back. The rest of the team may as well be picked out of a hat.

The club have gone promotion (as in promoting the team) crazy in the last week, with players going through town offering free tickets to kids. They seem to have captured the imagination so we're hoping for our best crowd of the season. It also seems like the job is Russ Milton's if he can get a decent result today.

Great work, I’m in favour of forcing matchday threads on this forum. I think we’ll win today and put to bed our indifferent start to the season.

Watching the game with a mate (a PL fan :ffs:) and he reckons we look like a top 3 side with Boro looking a bottom 4 one. Have to agree with his assessment but we're only one nil up when it should've been more.

That went well!

Big thanks to Swindon for their 94th min equaliser which pocketed me £323

Deserved the win today but that second half was awful, we allowed Morecambe to have much more of the play and probably a team with a bit more quality would have punished us. Still not convinced with us playing 3 CBS either. They seem to get in eachothers way or not know where the other one is.

Hard to judge us today, we were poor in the first half, but the first penalty for Col U should never have been given, Nigel Atangana clearly getting the ball first, then Pell going down like he was shot. Harry Pell in being a c*** shocker.

No arguments at all with their second, absolutely stunning free-kick.

Second half we dominated, whether that was because Colchester were letting us or not is another question, but we huffed and puffed a lot. Finally got a goal back and then Tyrone Barnett misses a glorious chance to make it 2-2. I can't comment on the third pen, from where I was sat, at the other end of the pitch, it looked a bit harsh with the Colchester lad already going down before our defender just runs into him. However, I can't say that's how it definitely was.

All in all, poor first half, much better second, harsh decisions against us, and 3-1 was a harsh result, even if we probably didn't do enough to earn a point.

From the highlights I think both penalties could look a bit soft, but also think both are hard calls - not blatant either way. Atangana might get a nick of the ball but it's difficult to tell, certainly not the disgrace of a decision that half of the Cheltenham fans are making it out to be though.

That is some free kick from Norris for the second and a perfect, emphatic penalty from Pell for the third. Sounded fortunate to be holding on a bit in the second half, but at 2-0 up away from home you're generally always going to sit in a bit and contain. Didn't sound particularly troubled though apart from the Barnett chance.

Last season we would have collapsed towards the end so that's a good sign.

That was a really enjoyable game - even Trevor Kettle couldn’t ruin it. Draw about fair - we could have won, we could have lost.

One thing is for sure, it’s better than watching Flitcroft’s shite from last season. Franchise look a real solid unit - albeit dull. We are flamboyant - yet vulnerable.

We always knew he was a c***, but he was our c***.

Best chant of the day was the lads behind the goal singing "We've got short memories" because we all knew what to expect.

The first pen Atangana gets more than a nick - it was right in front of me as I sit in the stand on that side of the pitch right at the very end of it. I can see why the ref gave it given his angle, but his linesman can't have missed it. It's possible the ref has ignored the lino though.

Having seen the highlights last night, I have no issue with the second pen.
