Accrington v Sunderland as a league fixture will be quite something

Something tells me they’ll be difficult to beat, Coleman just seems to fit in there, like Hill at Rochdale

For a club of their size it's a fantastic achievement, but, BUT, it's a shit away day.

Great too see welcome aboard, although I'm sure it's a guaranteed 6 points for them next season. We aren't allowed to beat Accy.

The only team really comparable to them in terms of size in this league is in recent memory is probably Dagenham, I know we’ve had Crawley, Fleetwood etc but it wasn’t nearly as much of a surprise to see them here due to been well funded

How very dare you. We have a bar under each stand of the ground..

Absolutely amazing achievement from both of you and you've gone one further let's hope accy can perform the same.

It gives hope to teams in league 2 and the conference that you can succeed if you are well run, even with small crowds.
Football is cyclical so one day the bigger non league Clubs will be back ( tranmere, Wrexham, Stockport, Hartlepool ) but for now, there is a new pack of clubs making a name for
Themselves.

Brilliant to see Accy in L 1.

Hope we manage to stay around to play them. Fantastic away day for Dale fans including the now traditional soaking.

To be brutally honest the town of Accrington has not got a lot going for it or in simplier terms its a shite hole. However, Accy Stanley have now given the town something they can be justly proud of. Similar to the Cods, I hope the young uns of the town swap their Man Utd, Chelsea, etc. tops for their home town teams tops and wear them with pride. Given the resources of the club this promotion is a remarkable achievement by any standard and sincerely hope they can establish themselves next season and not become the whipping boys of the league. Like death and taxes, the other certainty in life is that you will get soaked to the skin attending your teams away fixture at Accy, but that is part of the romance.

Welcome and I hope you stay around for a while.

What an achievement, congratulations.

Sure you won’t take it to heart when I say I hope I don’t have to visit.

Are there any Accy posters on here?

Awesome! Well done Accy - although I’m sick of losing time and time again away to Accy. Glad to see you again after we stole automatic promotion away from you in the last second 2 years ago

What’s the odds for Sunderland Vs Accy as the first fixture next season...

Will Jack Rodwell earn in 1 week more than most Accy players in 1 year?

You've never experienced true misery unless you've been to freezing Accrington on a Tuesday night in February, got absolutely drenched despite being under a 'roof' and watched your team lose to a bunch of organised cloggers on a complete turnip patch of a pitch.

What about when we were 2-0 down and beat them 3-2 with big Barry Conlon amongst the goals? One of my favourite away days in terms of football that. I have to agree it’s a piss poor day out in general. We usually make up half the crowd when we go there and the atmosphere is complete shite.

Can’t see Rodwell being on 60k+ a week to be fair.

Remember reading an article suggesting that Rodwell was on 70k a week and made something like 3 appearances all season. Wage cut for relegation is rumoured 40% which would leave approx 40k a week. Would be surprised if many Accy players were on above that a year!

Well done for the promotion Accy Stanley!
Hoping that you are about to become champions now!
I disagree with the people that don't like it there as an away trip .... I absolutely love it there apart from the inevitable drowning. The people are great, the welcome is warm and it's so far removed from the premier league/ sky tv / corporate faceless sterilized football.
Good luck with it all Stanley , when you're sat on the train on the UP line, look out of the window and you will see us Shaggers on the DOWN line!

Just wondering what do people hate about Accy as an away day? Basically a poor man's Burnley with a non-league style ground (not that I mind that kind of thing)?

A new stand is going up replacing the old "cow shed" as soon as the season finishes - not sure about the Coppice End (away end) yet whether its going to have a roof put on - however all away fans must endure a soaking at our place at some point (we had a number of them at Bootham Crescent)!!

Thanks to all for your comments and best wishes - just coming back down to earth after last night's celebrations. As others have said Accrington V Sunderland first game would be something! We did play Pompey in our opening home game of the season when they first dropped to League 2 so you never know...

Cracking achievement for Stanley, hope they go on to win the league and then stay up next year. Not that long ago we were 4 divisions above, could be playing them next season :conf:
