Maybe, but there is a huge disparity between the revenue between Vale and Derby. Derby will turn over close to £20m this season (down from £30m which we were roughly at pre-covid). Vale, I’m assuming will sit roughly £7m although not easy to tell. I would assume just shy of double Burton Albion’s £4m, but that’s a stick your finger in the wind and guess.

Derby have a fresh start, with some agreed financial restrictions on trading for the foreseeable future. Mel Morris, the person who caused the mess, doesn’t benefit from the club in any way going forward hence why there is a business plan, no further punishment.

The business plan will be subject to us not running up any excess finances going forward and players coming to the club will sit within sustainable parameters based on the takeover - minus investment from Clowes in academy, etc.ours is anything like that....

Boltons turn over will not be £20m next season.......Only see Shef wed and Perhaps Ipswich having a higher turnover than us
Dont see how Derby can come up with those figures

The last two years we published accounts in the Championship pre-covid, we had a turnover just shy of £30m (£29m in 2017, £29.6m in 2018).

The general rule of thumb was that the cost of relegation from the Championship to League One would be between £8-10m - at least it was last season.

I think the TV money drops by a little over £6m, close to £7m, and there is an accrual for loss of sponsorship money due to lack of coverage in League One.

Match receipts and other receipts will drop significantly too.

Even extremely conservative figures will be around £16m (a £14m downturn on 2018 figures).

A loss of £7m on TV money, £2m on sponsorship, £3m on match receipts & £2m on others. I say this is extremely conservative because it would be the biggest loss in revenue any team has ever had from the Championship to League One without the impact of parachute payments.

Just a quick look at Rotherham and the cost of relegation was about £4m to their accounts, so I think more than triple the loss is a little over dramatic.

Next season, I would suspect a floor of 23 and ceiling of 25 as an average. I think opening day will be 30,000+ and then a likely drop off but we will have to see how we get on as the season progresses.

Season tickets will go on sale this week. Bizarrely, a couple months earlier than last season, but still much later than everyone else - I'll be interested to see the figures but there's been a really surge in demand of new tickets. Clowes buying the club, as the reluctant fan, has helped.

You’re gonna get a shock when 3000+ Forest, Birmingham etc fans are replaced by 46 Fleetwood and Forest Green fans.

Can’t have a betting company paying your manager now either.

Maybe, but there's an offset - most games in League One are on a Saturday. The likes of Wednesday, Burton, Lincoln will sell out the 2.7k allocation - Oxford too.

I couldn't tell you how many home games we had on a saturday last season, but a lot of night games against the likes of Reading where they bought less than 500.

If you looked at the dates, 2017 & 2018, it was Nigel Pearson then Gary Rowett in charge. It's the last time we published the accounts. Neither of them were getting paid by any betting companies.

The Rooney deal would've blown sponsorship well above that figure, but Mel hasn't published any accounts since long before he came to Derby. No idea what happens with those accounts now, but I'd assume they will come to light some day.

I can't say I remember not selling out, but I definitely had to get tickets in the home end on one occasion through tickets for troops as the away end was sold out. Not sure what season it was, but sure it was a one early in the season. I think it ended in a draw.

You haven't sold out since the cup replay in 1993

And I have the data to back this up

To be fair a lot will have Derby as a big away day. I expect Vale to take close to if not sell out 2.7k as that’ll be the one we want to do, close obviously and a ground we’ve not been to in 20 odd years (assume we’ve played there during our Championship era around the time it opened). So guess the away followings won’t be that bad as the big clubs will sell it out of the more traditional 3rd tier sides will see it as one to tick off.

Being central it will have a bigger pull than say Ipswich or Portsmouth.

I don’t know the ins and outs but assume Derby will have to pay x amount in the £ to get the CVA through?

Barkhuizen isn't the sort of player you sign in a tight business plan. He'd be our highest paid player. As others have said it doesn't sit very well.
In fairness we came out of Administration in November 2012 and signed Lee Hughes, Darren Purse and Dan Jones in the January…

Last time we played them they were still at the Baseball Ground. Early October on a Saturday we’ll sell out Derby away. Easy journey to make with a direct train route from S-O-T and the novelty factor.

We took 5k once but that was the Baseball Ground in the cup. 2.7k isn't too bad of an allocation I guess.

Better than 600 tickets for a crucial game away at Barrow at least!

Yeah I was trying to work it out as during the 90s we were mostly in the 2nd tier but they were flirting between the top flight and 2nd.

Yeah, no real numbers have been disclosed, other than the deal was substantial enough to avoid any further point deductions. The only restrictions now are a business plan regards to trading.

I think it was in excess of 25p in the £1 in the end, but not sure how much more was paid. Mike Ashley's lawyers said his 'bid' was 38p to the £1, but obviously that never transpired for numerous reasons. I don't know if Clowes had to go that high, but obviously a deal was negotiated that left all parties relatively happy.

Mel Morris is completely eradicated from the club and will be remembered as the club's worst owner - a club that has seen former directors go to jail for their conduct whilst in a position of power at Derby and (of course) Robert Maxwell.

No person has ever come closer to destroying the club. Hopefully, he's never seen again and can find a nice little corner on earth to go and rot in silence.

Didn’t the away allocation used to be 3000? I seem to remember that number when I queued up to get a ticket. I remember them selling quickly for our first visit.

Hourihane looks to be signing, alongside Brighton goalkeeper Carl Rushworth - who looks to be a very highly rated player. Happy with both of them.

Working on Curtis Davies extension, plus James Chester. Another Brighton player, Haydon Roberts, linked but seems to have Championship offers and I would assume Brighton would rather see him go there. No idea. He was in and around their first team last season and spent most of the season on the bench.

A couple of updates: Haydon Roberts looks close to joining, also David McGoldrick is looking likely too. He's been training with the club since the start of pre-season.

It does look like we're putting a squad together at a good pace. I also like the standard of player we're looking at, experienced players who will help build a culture with the remaining young players in the squad.

Interest in Sibley, though, who I would keep at all costs. Fingers crossed the club doesn't do anything stupid - he's by far and away (by an incredible margin) our most talented asset. My favourite Derby academy product since Giles Barnes.

So there aren't any restrictions on Derby then?

Hourihane and Barkhuizen will definitely be mid-range Championship wages. Derby will have the crowds to cover them but it seems a bit mad that there are no repercussions for this summer's madness.

I'd laugh if they went up at the first attempt.
