On the City & Rovers front, I remember going to watch a Glos v Somerset Sunday league game in Bristol several years ago (Botham was playing so will give you a clue as to how long ago).
Anyway it pissed down most of the day so we spent a large part of it in the Jessops Tavern, and the Somerset/Glos fans (or as we all know City/Rovers) were having a pool tournament.

Now all were well oiled having partaken in large quantities of local ale, and there was plenty of singing and abuse, but not a hint of trouble.
The funny thing is that fast forward a few months to the football season & the same lads would probably be hurling bricks & bottles at each other because now it's football.

Just need Cardiff to suddenly butt into this thread now and all of a sudden you have the worst thread in history of internet forums thanks to all the bitching
Well Yeovil and Cheltenham could too but they seem to be City B teams nowadays, so don't count towards real rivalries......

You're way down the pecking order now!

BTW, how many of your good players are you expecting to lose?

Just an idea here.

How about we split this thread into 2.

One for six fingered, hunch backed, web footed, sister shagging mutants v The Detestables

Another for six fingered, hunchbacked, web footed, sister shagging mutants v The Deluded

There. Edited it for you.

So, let me get this right. You wouldn't want to get to the PL, even for one season?

You're quite happy lolloping around your natural home in the lower leagues forever?

I'd like us to get there at least once in my lifetime but doubt id enjoy seeing us get dicked every week.

You get to see the top grounds and players but what good is that when they are treating playing you like a training match?

In all honesty the premiership bores the shit out of me.

I know people like to think we were dicked every week and were the worst team ever in the PL, but there have been plenty worse than us.

Derby, Sunderland, Watford, QPR, Pompey and Villa this season were all far worse. Derby only managed 11 points all season.

And bear in mind the money we got for that 1 season was only £1 million - not the gadzillions and parachute payments they get now.

Wouldn't have missed it for the world - especially after scrubbing back in our natural home for so long now.

Hearing Stratton Bank has been refused a safety certificate for next season so only the corner of the Arkells for away fans.

That is a shame, will have a real impact on away allocations won't it? (More for the likes of us and Oxford, but yeah)

League regulations state that you have to give the visitors a minimum of 10% of the total capacity. I think you may have to allocate a bit more than that end section to comply?

I think you can get 1400 in that section in the arkells. Don't take my word for it though.

With the Bank closed the capacity will drop to about 12,000. So the corner of the Arkells, as it is now for away fans, will be enough.

Is this right? I read 5% but hope it is 10%, was trying to figure out what the minimum AFC will have to give us if they win the playoffs.

The actual rule states clubs must make accommodation for 2000 away fans or 10% of capacity.

I love how City fans are moaning about us and this whole 'you see what we have to put up with?'

Well I'm sorry, I'm 24 and I've put up with this shit for my entire life. I've put up with this crap, bragging, boasting, been threatened to be beaten up and been abused to wearing a Rovers shirt in my home city, and you got one comment because we've had to put up with years of your shit and suddenly you can't deal with it, despite us being a league below you? F*ck me, how would you deal with it if we ever met in the same league again?!

Your post has never made me smile so much ciderup. Normally, I hate these things but youre acting like you've had the toughest time ever and this cry for sympathy is making me sick.
Apologies for the late reply and it does come across like that after reading it again, that wasn't my intention. It was meant as an example of just how intense the rivalry is between the Bristol clubs that, at times, we can't even have a quiet evening without the rivalry rearing its head. That goes BOTH ways.
Sorry for such a poor post.
