If we had Lionel Messi we’d be champions this season.

Wrexham will comfortably get promoted. Lge 2 is very poor, if we had a goalscorer we would be challenging the play offs this season.

Wrexham have several plus several millions to improve even more. There only doubt is the manager but with 4 promotion places up for grabs I'd be surprised if they didn't go up again.

that’s the problem, everyone wants that scorer that gets 20 a season it’s a fiction.

We’re 2nd top goalscorers this season (1 behind salford with a game in hand) and our top scorer is on 9

Wrexham always seem to encourage every cut throat, ex jail bird, crackpot, lunatic upstanding Englishman to turn out under the pretence of supporting Crewe Alexandra, I don't for one second think that has changed in the 15 years they went missing.

The point is Wrexham already have him, and the rest of the players to be a top side and the money to spend to improve even more.

We are average but could easily have been challenging the top 7 if we could score goals. The league is poor and Wrexham will comfortably get promoted with the side they have, if next season is similar.

Good luck to them I wish it was us, I’d happily have other fan’s jealous and despising us for the publicity and success that will come with it. A behind the scenes on one of the biggest streaming providers just doesn’t happen to lower league clubs, it’s a true one off that puts Salfords vanity project into the shadows.

They’ll overtake us all who are currently at this level within the next 2-3 years while we argue over a £50k sell on fee for some one season wonder.

I love Parky and am happy for him but I do think they need a more modern manager in time, he’ll probably do the job at this level as well but in league 1 I think they need to start coming into the 21st Century on the pitch.

They’ll spend a stupid amount in summer on wages with players dropping from all leagues.

As Stockport have shown this season, the step up is nothing and league 2 is a pretty poor league. They’ll not walk the league but top 3 will be the expectation and should be achieved

Stockport spent a lot more money hence why they are doing well and that’s why Wrexham will do aswell. L2 is poor at the minute but any team coming up has to spend again to compete.

Scunthorpe, Torquay, Yeovil etc make L2 basket clubs look sound.

Welcome back Wrexham. I think its a positive that the league is going to get a lot more eyeballs on it because of the owners, although its an absolute banker that Salford v Wrexham will be on tv.

That being said the national league has much better TV coverage than L2 so it will be interesting to see Sky no doubt no look to pivot. I see that Wrexham are generating some mental revenue because of their sponsorships etc, I am guessing they will have a record budget because of it and will no doubt go big in the summer signing up players from higher levels.

Someone asked me the other day what's more likely, they clear 100 points again next season or miss the playoffs? Considering the expectation that they will go big in the summer I think its a possibility could be the former.

That being said, I know Mullin had a great L2 campaign last time he was here and Tozer was good at Cheltenham but its not like its an elite squad so I assume they will upgrade quite substantially. But if you are a free agent from the lower leagues I would think they would be right near the top in who could you offer a good platform to become known and also to get a big pay day.

That was my point, if Stockport can come up and compete then Wrexham are going to be top 3. Both have big budgets and League 2 isn’t in its best shape at the minute!

A lot more than who?

Didn't pay a penny in transfers last summer; did spend a lot on agents' fees but if that same amount had gone on transfers for the likes of Wootton and Horsfall then everyone here would happily agree it was great business.

I steadfastly maintained during our dreadful start of the season that our side from last season would've picked up more points than the disjointed new bunch from those ~10 games, and that last season's top 3 in the VNL would be capable of challenging for the top 7 in this season's L2. That viewpoint seems to have become more accepted as the season went on (it's hard being right all the time, you know)

The only major difference I could point out to any Wrexham fans (and whoever joins them) is that the difference in quality in L2 is nothing to write home about, just the difference in consistency. The points you felt lucky for will happen a lot less, but nobody will blow you away.

Congratulations to the long-suffering amongst Wrexham's support; that media circus can get fucked, however. I was tired of it last season and it sounds worse now.

Yeah I agree with that, I just think people don’t realise how much the national league tails off in mid to the lower table in comparison to L2.

I’m just saying you spent a lot of money, on top of what was already on the wage bill, fees for agents or wages it doesn’t really matter.

I mean we got absolutely nowhere close to what you guys offered Akil Wright, that maybe down to us just not valuing him as high but your business speaks for itself.

It tails off dramatically after 4 or 5 clubs, let's be honest.

My take on it is that Wrexham and Mullin are good but people are overegging them more than slightly. You can't argue with Mullin's stats in the NL but going off the matches I've paid particular notice to him in he came up against Luke Waterfall three times last season and he drew blanks the first two times and needed a dodgy pen and a handball to register goals past us in the third match. There aren't many sides that have a CB as good as Waterfall down in the NL, however there are here. I think he'll probably get around 20 or so goals and Wrexham will be decent but all this chat of Mullin being nailed on to score as many as he has this season and Wrexham to steamroller the division is a tad OTT, in my opinion.

There's so much focus on Mullin too that I feel it almost does a discredit to some of their other squad members that you'd expect to be able to more than hold their own at this level. Lee, Forde, O'Connor, O'Connell and Hayden you'd expect to be key players at this level. On the flipside though Palmer, Waters, Dalby, Barnett, Davies, McFazdean, Mendy, Tozer, Young, Tunnicliffe...all players that are either unproven or aren't necessarily promotion challenging players at this level. Happy to be pulled up by anyone more ITK on any of those opinions though, I'm perhaps not that in the loop.

I don't see the ceiling of players available to them being any higher than the last few windows really. They're already shopping with a top end L1 budget, they aren't going to push that into Championship wage territory yet.

Parkinson has proven some of his doubters wrong by achieving what he should have achieved last season but doing it in emphatic style this season. However there are still valid questions regarding him.

It tails off less so than when Mansfield were last there to be fair. It was a much stronger division last season than our first stint. There aren't six or seven Histons that you spank four or five past every week. You just have to look at the teams that have gone down this season to see that really.

It’s a strong league but a different league that poses different challenges. The bottom half of League Two is petrified of relegation so you get a lot more low-scoring grinds even as a team near the top.

The current season is a freak anyway with Wrexham having loads of money and us having found ourselves a genius manager.

This is quite wrong. Maybe several years ago it was like that, but looking at the table genuinely you have to get to the last 2 in the table before you get 'gimmes'. Maidstone are whipping boys, like most leagues have, Scunny were real bad early but stabilised a bit as the season went on, just ran out of time. But you turn up at Dorking, Maidenhead, Aldershot, York, Alty expecting a nice easy 3 points, you'll get turned over. It's an annoyingly competitive league you need to spend a lot to get out of, or get very lucky in that you get one of those seasons where everything just drops into place. I just hope common sense prevails and 3 up comes around sooner rather than later.

I’d be petrified too, as i know how fucking wank the conference is.

Just the thought of being back down in the pit of misery breaks me out into cold sweats.

Yeah we won it when you had luton in it, the worlds biggest club don’t you know?

Bloody hell histon, that’s a blast from the past. That was one of the curiosities of the conference though when you’d come up against oddities like wealdstone, or dorking. I mean their badge looks like a crap kfc badge

Genuinely had several times when I'd buy a match day ticket and trai ticket and then have to look up on a map to see exactly where I was heading.

A few other blast from the past names for you. Hayes and Yeading, Eastbourne Borough, Hyde...

And yet strangely, Wealdstone and Dorking are 2 of the better footballing sides in the division. Neither big lump forward teams, especially Dorking who were very much ''lol defending is for girls" for most of the season.

Our first Saturday home game in our first season in it we had Hayes and Yeading and lost 2-1.
That was when the reality kicked in.

Dover at home on the first day for us which we obviously lost. That was followed up by an embarrassing BT Sports defeat at Maidenhead with some of the most comical defending you'll ever see. Dover won't be there next year but Ebbsfleet will be and they battered us every season for about 3 years

You only ever do 2 years in the NL, the year you go down and the year you come up.
