I have to take my hat off to Wednesday (through gritted teeth) on their turnaround vs the Millers at the New York Stadium the Saturday just gone.

I genuinely believed when Bowery scored (and nearly broke my thumb celebrating the goal) that that would be enough for us to snatch 3 invaluable points in our quest for survival. But Wednesday hung on in there, kept fighting, and knocked the stuffing out of us with the leveller. From there, if any team was going to win it, it would be the Owls, as our heads, heart, spirit, belief and fight had all gone in one fell swoop. I can't accept that from the Rotherham United players and management teams, despite the "we're all gutted" soundbites after the game.

I know it's easy to say, and I'll wait with baited breath for Walkley to pounce on this, but I'd rather be watching us than Wednesday, based on the 3 or 4 games I've seen. Their gameplan for the majority of the game was hoof it to that Nihuo(?) at every given opportunity and feed off the scraps. It's obviously working enough to get them to safety, but I doubt it would be sublime enough to ever challenge for the top 6.

There was one player that stood out as head and shoulders above the rest and that was Lewis McGugan. Our midfield had a bad day (Frecklington and Smallwood looked like they'd never kicked a ball before, and Pringle was underpar) which probably accentuated the gulf in standard, but McGugan was exceptional throughout. He was arguably the difference as well, as he made the 1st and 2nd goals. Without them, Wednesday would've been dead and buried.

I'm very surprised he's not better than Henry Lansbury from what I've seen. It would be interesting to get the Forest and Wednesday fans' opinions. I did feel sorry for him, as his frustration grew of being bypassed by long balls, but whenever he was in possession he looked classy and his positional play was second to none; always seemed to have half a second longer than everyone else.

That Chris Maguire seems a bit of an idiot, though? I don't necessarily think he's a bad man, he just seems a few sandwiches short of a picnic, trying to incite the home crowd (relatively unprovoked) after every single goal. Stevie May on the other hand, was admirable in his behaviour given the daft boos he received.

As for us? Well, it's a crushing blow to us coupled with Wigan's late leveller. We seem to have lost belief and that combined with a lack of quality in the ranks might see us slip through the net. It's been an interesting season whatever happens.

Anyway, here's a video demonstrating how little the game meant to Wednesday's players and fans.

I can't argue that we were poor, we were, you were the better side for 85 minutes and should have won the game.

Our football wasn't great but based on that showing i'd prefer to not watch either side.

McGugan is quality and I hope our prime target in the window, he oozes ability and a calmness on the ball, but what it has to do with Lansbury I've no idea, he's a Watford not a Forest player (McGugan).

As for Maguire, when a certain BatFastard runs on the pitch when Bowery scores then you cannot really complain when the oppo give it back, in droves.

Of course the video shows celebrations, we'd been 2-1 down in stoppage time and won, at a club who hates us with a passion, what should we do just clap?

I can understand the fascination with Evans in terms of his colourful past, touchline antics and tendency to slap a bit of man makeup on when the cameras are in town, but really don't understand the obsession with his weight.

Sure, he's big. But our nation has a problem with obesity (due to the complex carbs nature of our staple diet coupled with the fast food influx) so he's far from the only one with a weight issue. The worst is when Twitter warriors have a pop at his weight, you click on the photos and they're hardly athletes themselves; some look like they could even be offspring of Evans.

It's easy to see how he's at the weight he is. Football career cut short due to injury problems so went into football management.

- He doesn't take the sessions as the Assistant Manager and Physio take the sessions.
- It's a stressful job where drink is rife among Board of Directors/Chairmen/Managers post-match.
- He does a lot of scouting so he's on the road most of the time. Hardly in a position to cook himsefl something healthy so a pasty at the service station is no doubt the easier option a lot of the time.
- He's small so it looks worse compared to taller people of the same weight.

Yeah makes me laugh when you get idiots on Twitter (usually Wednesday or Bradford fans) with weight jokes like it offends our fans. He could put on another 10 stone for all I care, still fucking love the man.

He's not alone, Walkley. There are dozens of managers around doing dodgy transfer deals, allegedly taking bungs etc. He doesn't cheat anymore as Tony Stewart wouldn't let him; he runs a very tight, clean ship.

His chequered past led many Millers fans (myself included) to not want him on his arrival, and still cannot accept what he did, but life goes on, and he's still indirectly paying for it with all the stick he takes.

I read somewhere you had 31 debutants this season, I'm sure they were all needed and Steve was above board.

Not sure you're making much sense now. We're merely exploiting the generous loan market arrangements that are entirely legit.

We can't compete for wages with most teams in this league, as we found out with Stevie May and Dicko, so it's our only hope of survival.

Would you rather we went shit for bust and end up in admin again?

Wow, your hatred for us really knows no bounds.

I think you could do with some anger management classes. Those P&Ls are getting the better of you.

What's back in our place? We've spent as long in our history in this league as the other two divisions below. No need for insults, now.

Aye, go on then. Well done from me as well. Football was poor but the celebrations were first class all round. We got it big style from the fans & Maguire & the bloody bench an'all !
Reminded me of our two last minute winners at Hillsborough in consecutive seasons back in early 2000's.

Ps, Love Evans, just love him. Wish he'd take it a bit easier though, cos he's going to have a heart attack one of these days. He's the no.1 candidate in all of the F.L & Prem. There's been no one like him, ever. Even Steve Bruce is no where near as big..:bg:

I think that Rotherham are always going to be the smallest of the three Sheffield clubs though.
Except possibly when ranked by managerial weight or displacement.

Mate, you're taking shit fishing to the next level.

In the same way Wednesday fans couldn't care less about us and don't understand why most (not all) Millers fans hate Wednesday.
We don't understand Doncaster fans hatred of us.......and could care less about them.
It's a funny old game as Greavesy used to say.
