Seven years consecutive league games against each other.
Last season Lincoln did double over FGR but overall the results are fairly even.
The huge upsurge of support for Lincoln last season brought about a less than friendly attitude from both their team and supporters.
Now that they are a mid-table football league team I sincerely hope they keep the increased support but lose the bad attitude because I genuinely enjoy playing them.
Both promoted teams are struggling to establish themselves in EFL2 although Lincoln are currently doing better and must be confident of securing a good result at TNL. I suspect a score draw.
Last season Cowley received more publicity than his team. Afterwards that publicity went in FGR's direction. Both teams have become very well known. Lets hope game is a cracker to retain public interest.

A nice, short midweek game. Like being back in the Conference with this fixture planning!

Both teams will be eyeing this one for 3 points.

Green suspended for this one, so Palmer will be up front and Sean Long's lower leg is apparently hanging off after a challenge yesterday, although it wasn't a foul...but that means Habergham came back in, so if anything, I'd argue that particular change makes us stronger and puts Eardley back into his favoured RB position.

Arnold didn't play yesterday having been injured against Luton, but will probably come back in for Anderson.

We're doing ok at the minute and looking solid-ish even though we've only kept one clean sheet and not quite been as clinical from an attacking point of view either. Nothing major, just fine margins. Not quite got it going away from home as of yet this season with one win, one draw, one loss in the league. This is only the second game we've had where the opposition haven't been 'up there' in L2 last season.

Slightly strange post. Our support is magnificent in both numbers and attitude.

Bizzare that you'd point to the attitude of another side's supporters a day after your captain publicly tore into his own fans for a terrible attitude.

Away win.

We really need something here, and to do that we somehow have to stop conceding goals.

Going to have to dig in and fight for it, unlike Exeter Lincoln are a team we should be able to compete with, so think it will be tight. Can see us getting a draw.

Watching FGR attempting to defend on the short clips I've seen of their match highlights has been bloody hilarious so far this season. We should live up to our reputation and launch the ball into their box from all over the pitch and let them be the masters of their own downfall.

I don't think anybody from TNL will disagree with that.

Your defence was none too clever last season and certainly looks like the same problems are still there but are decent going forward hence how you got up you hammered the crap teams but struggled against the better sides.
We have won 3 of our last 4 games in all comps and hoping we make it 4 in 5,

We would both say our support is magnificent in terms of numbers and attitude but I suspect that might be bending the truth somewhat. Most of our fans are fine, but Noble is right, the attitude of some fans stinks. I value freedom of speech, it is at times an underrated privilege, but shouting abuse at your own players is hardly likely to motivate them. Even if someone is having a really bad game, which they are probably well aware of, they are far more likely to respond to vociferous encouragement than abuse.

Your first point:
Both the players and fans of Lincoln attitudes changed when Cowley came aboard.
Last season I know FGR were close competitors for that one automatic promotion spot, but when Lincoln scored at home the whole team rushed to the where the FGR supporters were grouped to rub our noses that Lincoln were ahead. Other teams celebrate with their own fans.
The Lincoln fans have adopted the mantra of Millwall: Nobody likes us but we don't care."
There are nowadays more than a few contentious posts by alleged Imp fans.

2nd point:
I was at game on Saturday but genuinely did not hear any abuse so am staggered by all the bad publicity.
Noble and the manager were rightly bloody annoyed that a small minority of vociferous fans were shouting negative comments at players.
But that dispute is internal to FGR whereas there are plenty of Lincoln supporters who are happy to denigrate other teams.

As I said in first post, I enjoy FGR playing Lincoln and wish hopefully that they could return to that laid back friendly attitude of years gone by.

Tbf, 'back in the day', the Millwall mantra of hooliganism was well and truly alive at Sincil Bank! It's not like that now in that respect, but our best seasons have always been where a siege mentality type atmosphere has been created - Graham Taylor (70's), Colin Murphy (80's), John Beck (90's), Keith Alexander (00's) and now Danny Cowley (10's).

No surprise that attitudes changed when the Cowleys came in because we were suddenly very good and there was an air of good arrogance about the place, but we backed that up all season. That game you mention, they did for the first goal but not the second or third.

Those years gone by that you point to were days of apathy having drifted for 6-10 seasons, and this isn't necessarily a good thing, but the picture you've got from our 5 years coming up against you in the Conference, and being shit as well, isn't actually a true reflection of anything. What you're seeing now is probably closer to the mark of our L2 days (admittedly with bigger attendances).

Unless you mean this message board and then you can probably disregard the above comments! Most of the Lincoln posters on here have probably been around since the start of the old site.

Yeah I don't know why the players celebrated that first goal like that to be fair. Remember Rhead doing it against Dagenham as well at the same end. Maybe some words were directed at them when we had a corner that end that's all I can think of.

Luke makes a good point, all our success has come with that siege mentality against all odds type attitude so we might all be guilty of getting caught up in that at times.

Yes please! Please.

We really need to play someone we can actually beat instead of having our arses handed to us on a plate every week.

We would all be very grateful if you would do us the honour of letting us win again, for old times sake. Thanks in advance.

I will defer this to Grimsby.

Yep, I started watching the Imps when Mr Taylor did well for us, safe to say I have seen a few ups and mostly downs in that time. In the main we struggled against the likes of FGR with all their money so it was nice to upset the norm and do the double over them last season.

I can see us finding the game tomorrow harder than the recent results suggests.

4 changes for us.

As expected Palmer for the suspended Green and Habergham in for the injured Long with Eardley going to his favoured RB position. Unless he's got an injury, Waterfall dropping out for Dickie seems an unneeded change and Arnold comes in for Rhead, with Knott moving from the left wing to his favoured number 10 role. Rhead dropping out is slightly less surprising, for me.

16 year old Ellis Chapman on the bench. We sold him to Leicester and he's ended up back here for some reason even though he wasn't released. Not sure whether he had travel issues or something, but highly rated.

We've put a lad on the bench who we only signed on as a pro from the youth team earlier today. Maybe the stars say it's a good day for kids. MC has juggled the back four again and Doidge and Mullings starting together is a first too I think. Not too encouraging but hope he proves me wrong.

Long stoppage for a clash of heads between Raggett and Doidge and some shonky reffing both ways since in bad weather. Survived the glaring chance we conceded early at least.

Sounded like a stop-start half with Lincoln making the better of the chances and Raggett off and on half a dozen times as his cut keeps opening up. Not conceding is a bonus.

Keeper up for a late free kick and corner but still couldn't trouble Farman. And now he's got in a fight. Four defeats in a row.
