I think we'll see West Ham spending a fuckload this summer. Hope they fuck it up but unfortunately I think Bilic is an elite manager so can't see it.

Prem clubs in general will spend loads this Summer. Isn't it a £30m raise in TV money per club?

I read something about West Ham being in for Lacazette too - true or not Sky Sports are going to fucking love this summer.

I believe the clubs are getting their PL payments during the transfer window this summer as well whereas before they had to wait till the season started. I think its going to be a mental window this one.

I opened this thread hoping to find they were planning a £25m bid for Benteke.

And the fact that they're now tax payer funded.

I nominate anything along these lines as the next "well that's going to be really boring to keep hearing for the next decade"" type statement. It already rather is.

Unless Marseille is brought by someone who actually has money that he wants to spend, there will be another mass exodus. Batshuayi should be followed by Mandanda, N'Koulou and Diarra. The only player who said he'd like to stay is Steven Fletcher. Says it all really.

FWIW, I'd like him at Liverpool. Reckon it could be a good fit.

Steve Fletcher at Liverpool?! Haha how is he even at Marseille?!

Does the truth hurt mate?

What truth? Thr truth that real issue was all the bickering parties (not West Ham) who were too shortsighted to take a leaf out of Manchester's book? Or those who rejected West Ham's bid to buy the stadium?

Or maybe the truth that most things reporting the deal so far haven't actually mentioned the full pack - including various other sponsorship, revenue streams, and bonus payments. West Ham will also lose some income streams that most clubs make a tidy profit on.

It's just going to be a bit dull hearing about "West Ham taxpayer etc" when in principle, they've done all they can do here to do it right, and if they have a little success then the taxpayer will eventually profit. *shrug*

Big Ben will play for WHU next season, thankfully we will only take a £7.5m loss on him.

I'd quite like Michy too, as Benteke's replacement. Sturridge, Michy, Origi, Ings & Firmino, nice crop of forwards that... Think our funds will be mainly concentrated in other areas though. Batshuayi though would be a good signing for West Ham, the reported fees are steep but that's the new normal.

If West Ham would like to drop that £25m on Benteke it'd be nice. Would mean we'd somehow made back £42m from them for him & Carroll.

I reckon Benteke would do well there, too. Certainly better than he is for us.

I think West Ham will take the 5th place in the top 5 BIG clubs in England from this summer.

United
City
Arsenal
Spurs
West Ham

the rest are much the same.

Surely West Ham would only have to bid around £15mil to get him?

Liverpool have to accept nobody is going to pay a lot for a player they have no interest in keeping

We wouldn't even consider a player such as Benteke so Liverpool will have to look elsewhere to dump him.

He wouldn't fit in with Bilic's style of play plus there are far better options available.

Yup. Depends on how Bilic wants to play, I don't think Benteke would be the best fit. We played our best with a high energy pressing game with Carroll on the bench, but with Sakho and Valencia having various issues we've changed our style to suit what we do have.

However I really rate Benteke and don't believe one poor season with two managers who don't play him to his strengths makes him a bad player overnight. In a style that suits, he's easily good enough for a team just outside the CL with CL ambitions.

Striker and a right back are our biggest areas to be improved, and although we're stocked there right now I'd like a 1st choice CB to lead the defence too. Collins has been great but is ageing, Reid is probably the best but is injury prone, Tomkins and Ogbonna are good but have bad concentration lapses. 4 good CBs but none that would interest the teams above - I'd let Collins go, bring in a top choice, any give more chances to Oxford (if he stays) to become the 2nd or 3rd cb.

Need to see what this Byram guy is like too. Having him step up or someone else coming in means Antonio can go further upfield to improve the midfield.

£25M offer rejected by Bournemouth for Callum Wilson and Matt Ritchie. Crazy kind of money to offer for a striker unproven at Premier League level and has just spent the last 8 months out injured. Ritchie however is a good player and has adapted to the league nicely, fantastic left foot on him but again an inflated price tag if we're saying £12.5M each.

Always a danger of us spending loads of money on players that play well against us! Like the above though, was a very fair - even possibly too much - of a fee with the relative value of the players and asterisks attached. Wilson tortured us at our place though, and would have been perfect for our/Bilic's preferred style too.

Kind of hope we don't go back in at those prices, though I'd be more keen on Wilson than Richie.

I think with a full season under his belt we'll likely get that or more for Wilson on his own this time next year. Billic must still be remembering what a fit Callum Wilson did to his defence....

Ritchie would probably fit in at West Ham as he can put in a killer ball for the likes of Carroll to attack; they're also not a team built on pace which is really his one downfall.

The good thing is that with the TV money there is no pressure to sell - to have so many English players in our squad and many of them quite young puts us in a strong position. Clubs will be paying silly money for home grown talent and with someone like Wilson we can ask for such silly money.
