I've started this thread as I am taking my daughter to her first town game today, as she has been hounding me for a while to go. (Bless her, little does she know the agony to come ;) )
So it got me thinking of the first game my dad took me to got me hooked straight away which was a 5 - 1 win over Wrexham in either 89 or 90 that got us promotion, great day, great atmosphere. (Gary Birtles hat-trick).

Then the next week was away at Chesterfield, another great day and atmosphere, we lost but nobody cared as we were already up.

The fairest thing for my daughter today would be for us to lose so she never wants to go again, save her from future heartbreak!! :(:D

Home was a terrible 0-0 draw but I can't for the life of me remember 100% who it was. Kiddy or Cambridge I think.

Away was the 1-0 at Hull at the KC in their first season there (02/03?) with a Bimson penalty in front of the away end in the second half. The one and only time I've nearly had my head taken off after the game by a piece of wood with barbed wire around the top of it.

Shame very little was recorded on phones back then because it was chaos beyond imagination. The Stadium itself was finished but outside wasn't. There were just pieces of building materials left lying around, mounds of mud, no lighting or anything. All the police pissed off to the train station.

The first home game I went to was one of the most famous in our history. Last day of the season in 1971/72 when we beat Exeter 3-0 to clinch the Old Division Four title under Lawrie McMenemy. I was 7 at the time and stood in The Pontoon in a gate of around 23000 and couldn't see bugger all until some fella took me down the front to stand on a milk crate to see the game.

First away game though wasn't until a few years later and was the League Cup Quarter-Final Replay in 1979/80 at Molyneux, Wolves. We were 3rd Division at the time and they were in Division One. We drew 1 all but went on to lose the 2nd replay (I'm sure a lot of older posters remember them) 2-0 at The Baseball Ground, Derby, which was my 2nd away game. We had a fantastic team in that 79/80 season as we went on to clinch the Old Division 3 title beating Sheffield United 4-0 at home on the last day of the season. Their team included Alex Sabella who would go on to become manager of Argentina.

3-1 against Portsmouth at home, Dec 29th 2001, Paul Groves' first game in charge as player-manager. Phil Jevons (2) and Simon Ford scored for us, Peter Crouch for them. I very rarely got to go when I was younger, my dad didn't care much for Town like he used to so I only made a couple of games a season. Literally none of my mates supported us so it was difficult to find somebody to go with.

Thus my first away game, barring Wembley in 08, was Chester in 2009 when Fenty put on the free busses. We drew 1-1. Great build up, utterly depressing game.

Home was a 2-0 win over Chesterfield in the 97/98 season, or so I'm informed as I was about 2 months old at the time.
Away was technically Leicester in 05/06 but I was a mascot for that so it doesn't really count. My first proper away was Bolton the next season
