Apart from the ones mentioned above;

Wrexham away in 2000 when a win would have seen us up automatically, it's a long way to travel for a 1-0 loss. Fortunately we made up for it at Wembley.
Plymouth away in 2004/5 season wasn't great either

Play offs in 1987 for me.
We had beaten Sunderland from the division above in the semi final on away goals.
Then the two legged final.
Won the first one at home 1-0 and lost the second leg away 2-1.
Which meant we would have won on away goals, but for the fact that they had decided to do away with the away goals rule for the final!
On to a replay at Selhurst park which we duly lost 2-0.

Worst of all, it was against the inbreds!!
What do you mean? It was a thoroughly joyous occasion. Ah, Charlie Henry's late equaliser at the CG, followed by a Steve White brace at Selhurst Park.

1974/5 FA Trophy semi final defeat to Matlock Town. Won 1st leg away 1-0 and had 2 disallowed then lost the home leg 0-2.
We were so much better than them it was absurd how we lost. The pain of that defeat didn't leave until we got promotion to the football league 34 years later in 2008/9 season !

Bit gutting missing out on promotion twice in the 2012/13 - blew it really.

Well, I wasn't in said nation at the time.
Pity. The looks on the Man Yoo players faces as they trudged off at the end of their game was something to savour.
They thought they'd done it.How wrong they were. :p

Nick Powell scoring a 95th minute equaliser at Plainmoor at the back end of 2011/12 hurt. Cost us automatic promotion.

Not had too many thankfully as it's largely been just one long collage of shite, losing at home to Leeds in 13/14 is probably worst recently.
Despite looking like we'd accepted relegation from the first day, we won a few tricky away games toward the back end of the season to somehow give ourselves a chance going into the final few games. We'd a great record vs Leeds at Oakwell (dicked them 5-2, 4-1 and 2-0 in previous 3 seasons) and they had nothing to play for. Cue a spineless, miserable, soul-destroying 1-0 defeat to the joy of a few thousand crowing neanderthals in the away end. We lost our next two games and were promptly relegated to League One.

If I'd been a few years older it would've been the 2-3 loss to Liverpool at the back end of our Premier League season. Bent ref reduced us to 9 men at 2-1 down, somehow pulled it back to 2-2 only for the Scousers to scramble in a 96th minute winner. Players hearts went after that and we went down. I'm not saying we'd definitely have stayed up but we were in a decent enough position to do so before that game :(

I wouldn't say I have a biggest heartbreak, it's just been one low after another over the last 12 years so my emotions have remained consistent.

The thing is though,Alsager aren't really too bothered about Vale.
It's more a one-way thing-Vale towards Alsager.

I missed the most gutting relegation in our history by about a year (1996, after being top of the 2nd tier at Christmas) and subsequent relegations (2006, 2015) never felt any less than inevitable, so I've never felt heartbreak in abject failure.

Probably the only times I've felt legitimately torn up were our play-off defeats to Wigan and Birmingham in 2000 and 2002 respectively. We'd played Wigan off the park in the 2nd leg but lost to a Gary Liddell sucker punch at the KGB. The Brum games were our last opportunity to reach the Prem but we froze on home turf and lost to a last minute Stern John goal. Horrible, horrible way to lose a play off game.

Leaving Layer Road for the last time.
The last (only) time I left Layer Road it was a quick jump into a cab and off to Col North station after seeing a 4-1 win on a Friday night.
A few pints of Tolly Cobbold bitter in The Drury Arms before the game and I remember clearly my legs nearly giving way as I headed for the pisshouse.

Losing to the gills in Wembley playoff final a few years back. They scored past the 90th minute from a corner that shouldn't have been....

Also relegation to the conference was a kick in the gonads, particularly a painful home defeat to Carlisle - fortunately getting back up at the first attempt softened the blow.

Ironically your 2009 semi final victory was probably the most heartbreaking for me. Still think about the many what if moments now.

1999 being 2-0 up vs man city in the play off final going in to the 90th minute, with city scoring twice in stoppage time and then losing on penalties

Tbf you were cheated by a corrupt ref that day.
