I once elbowed my mate in the face because he was pulling my shirt to stop a counter (no yellows in playground football), caught him flush on the nose and unfortunately broke it.

Felt guilty for days.

Got run over at a pay-at-the-pump at Beaconsfield services.

Any petrol station related posts should be in the Away Day thread, thanks.

I broke my metatarsal back in 2002 midday through the season and was out for a long time. Ending my season was bad enough but it was the fact my team were playing in a big tournament in the summer that I had played a crucial part in helping us qualify for and might miss that was the worst part. Luckily I managed to recover and even scored a winning penalty in a game against one of our arch rivals in the aforementioned tournament, although we ultimately ended up going out in the quarter finals to a freak goal.

I managed to knock two of my mate's front teeth out playing playground football... it was a perfectly clean tackle, but he fell flat on his face and ended up at the dentist. He did go on to play for Everton's academy, so no harm done.

Playing in the playground in about Year 4 and I pushed a lad into a tree when trying to win the ball.

What I will say is that playing with a toenail hanging off is one of the most painful things ever.

I once scored a screamer so astonishingly brilliant that my eyes, as well as the eyes of everybody who witnessed it live, popped out and stayed there for a good two weeks. Unfortunately one victim, a Mr. M Ozil, never recovered.

I did a very similar thing to my brother - playing football in the street, as you do when you are kids, and tackled him. He tripped over my leg and hit his mouth square on the corner of the neighbour's front wall. Felt guilty about it ever since, as he's got false veneers on them for life now.

My worst football injury is a broken heart. This happened in 1993, 2002 and again in 2008. Time heals. :ds:

About 6 years ago I turned out for my mates pub team. After many years of chronic laziness I thought it would be fine. After being taken the piss out of by some cocky youngster for half an hour, despite wanting to be sick on my shoes I aimed a nasty, snidey tackle at the cheeky fucker. This resulted in a broken ankle and ripped knee tendons, I looked up to see the showboating c*** skip away and score before I passed out in agony.
I'm not bitter mind.

I'm currently still recovering from a medial ligament tear in my left knee which I got within the first 10 minutes of my sunday league sides first pre-season game last summer. Not been the best season.

Obviously isn't, otherwise you'd have tried to save your club instead of letting it DIE.

My rugby-playing friend was in goal for 1 game at school. He dived on to the ball, the opponent kicked his face, broke my friends jaw and we laughed every day at the tinned ravioli he had to eat for 3 weeks.

I once ended up faceplanting on astro. I temporarily lost my memory and looked like two-face for weeks.

Playing in a game on a gravel pitch at a school game, I went for a desperate late tackle, caught my foot, flipped forward and smashed my face on the ground, but actually managed to take out the striker as well.

Cracked bone in my ankle, and fucked up my nose, needed to have a load of gravel removed from my nose/coughed up plus needed staples in my head.

And I was sent off for being the last man.

Not directly, but apparently the lad taking the free kick deflected it off the wall for a corner, which they scored from in what was literally the last minute. The lad that scored was the one I would have been marking. Wasn't amused when I found that out after.

Son's 10th birthday party... took him and his mates to the local sports centre for a 5-a-side... I was in goal... one of the lads hit a shot and I parried it away (much to his disgust).... then I realised that my middle finger was pointing in a direction it shouldn't have been pointing... match abandoned* whilst dad is whisked away to the local hospital to have his dislocated finger re-aligned (ouch!)....

*it wasn't abandoned... the little bastards insisted on playing on and not one of them sent me a 'get well' card....
