I'm after a music streaming site that offers quality playback and isn't compressed heavily. I use Youtube like many do to listen to more obscure stuff that isn't maybe available on other sites, but the best bitrate you can expect with YT is 192kbs apparently due to its compression rates.

What sites do you lads use that offers a very good selection of music and doesn't suffer too much compression?

Spotify. But I often revert back and forth to YouTube because TayTay isn't on Spotify.

I've no idea about compression rates as I'm a troglodyte.

Spotify offers 320kb bitrate on its highest setting. It's probably more important to have good kit than a high bitrate though. What speakers/headset/soundcard do you have?

Bought Sennheiser RS175's for music and movie watching, and am really impressed with the sound quality for wireless. I do notice a substantial difference between 128kbs Mp3's and 320kbs with them. Many of my mp3's are old now and not of the best quality, hence the search for a decent stream site.

I got an old soundblaster x-fi there that I uninstalled a few years back to get creative recon3d headphones which I installed to my pc, and they worked ok till I broke them! The new headphones are connected via an optical cable in the back of my telly, they have an amp in them but I understand that the source may not be the best, though the sound seems adequate enough. Thinking of getting a good amp one of these days when I move out of this flat!
