First ever game. I don't know. I remember sitting on a pile of bricks, because they were building something at the ground, sharing sweets with a mate and a copper came over and nicked one.
First game I can place was City 3-1 Watford in November 1988 in the old second division. (Fucking glory hunter...) (remember nowt from the game but remember it was Watford and in November because it was for my Brother's birthday.. Soccerbase did the rest.)
First game I actually remember anything about was Macc 4-2 Dartford in the FA Trophy Semi Final. It was on the same day as Hillsborough, so sticks in the memory.
Probably Dundee v Celtic a number of times back in the early eighties as my dad was a fan of Celtic, then I started going to see Dundee games regularly with my grandad who'd leave me outside the pub afterwards for a bit while he had a few rums! !
I can never remember which came first but it's either an Alty victory over Welling (2-1 I think, the ref missed a blatant handball by a Welling player, only for another Welling player to handball it 3 seconds later to give us a penalty) or one of the never-ending series of friendlies between Manchester United and Celtic (that got less frequent after the IRA blew up Manchester). Pretty sure that one was 0-0. Circa 93.
I think my first game was QPR vs Swindon, and we lost 2-1 with Karl Reddy got sent off. Around 1996 at guess.
First away game was at Readings old place near Boxing Day. I was on my brothers shoulders, and we started to sign "the referees a wanker". I didnt know what it meant, and I remember saying around the table (Boxing Day we have family over) that it was my favourite song as everyone sung it. I said "what was that song again? The referees a what?" My brother claimed to not remember. In hindsight, I know why he didn't answer Must have been about 9 at the time.
