Hi everyone, long-time lurker finally made an account.

I thought I would make a thread where we can all rationalise where we think our teams will finish this season.
For the Orient, after another tough season for the fans, I think we will sneak the play offs and finish 6th. Despite getting hammered by an impressive cobblers XI, our form is decent, and Nolan is only improving, both on and off the pitch.

We have 46 points with 15 games to go, I think 71 points will get you into 7th place (this is historically true).

Here is how I see our run in going:

Notts County (away) - Orient win, 3 points.
Crawley (home) - Orient win, 3 points.
Carlisle (away) - draw / Carlisle win, 0 points.
Luton (home) - Orient win / draw, 1 point.
Oxford (away) - Oxford win, 0 points.
Morecambe (home) - Orient win, 3 points.
Accrington (away) - Stanley win, 0 points.
Hartlepool (home) - Orient win, 3 points.
York (away) - draw / Orient win, 1 point.
Barnet (away) - Orient win, 3 points.
Daggers (home) - Orient win, 3 points.
Plymouth (home) - draw / Plymouth win, 1 point.
Dons (away) - draw / Dons win, 1 point.
Mansfield (home) - Orient win, 3 points.
Yeovil (away) - Orient win, 3 points.

This approximation sees us taking around 28 points from our remaining 15 games, leaving us on 74 points, which historically grants 6th-7th place.

How do you think your teams will fare after all 46 games?

Welcome to the the forum Mr. Orient fan!

We'll finish in the mid-table, and unfortunately for you lot, you'll be keeping us company.

Yes, you were hammered by an impressive Cobblers side and you were also hammered by an not-so-impressive Cambridge side. Going on what I've seen, there is no way you'll make the play-offs.

Which would ensure another round of the M11 derby next year :woo:

Yeah, that's a fair point, assuming you were at the game would you have described Cambridge's performance that day as better than average? I went to the Cambridge leg and thought you were very, very average that day, but great at the Orient. I was very impressed by your striker (Williamson?), although in fairness, we gave you all 3 goals due to individual errors.

Those individuals (Shaw and Essam) have been replaced with better players. On balance, I'm not sure we 'deserve' the play-offs, but I think my summary of our games remaining is spot on. Having travelled to Wycombe and Portsmouth in recent weeks, our away form is impressive.

Yep, that's why I said a not-so-impressive United, but it's results that count eh? Honestly though, we had quite a good game at yours, but we were also lucky with the gifts you gave us. Re. the first round match, imo, both sides were very average, and that's why I said going on what I've seen.

You probably have a point in saying the O's are better away from home, but tbh, I don't think you'll make the po's because I think there is only one spot that's up for grabs as I think Pompey, Rovers and Stanley will take the other 3.

Welcome out of the closet N's O's. Last July I had us finishing 8th and Orient 9th. At the moment, that remains as good a guess as any.

I also had Portsmouth, Plymouth, Oxford and Northampton in the top 6. Unfortunately I put Luton 2nd and Accrington 22nd, along with a few other significant misses - so the crystal ball was a bit wonky.

I can see greater potential in the Orient squad than those available to turn out for the U's for the rest of the season. However, with two inexperienced managers looking to next season as much as flirting with the playoffs, I'd predict both of us struggling to pick up more than 20-24 points - with the losses (for both of us) coming from the likes of York and Mansfield just as likely as Portsmouth/Carlisle and Accrington away.

I agree that Pompey will be in the play offs, and Stanley should (but if they get a few injuries from playing 12 games a week to catch up then who knows...).

As for the other 2 spots I think they could be anyone's. Rovers are a good side, but no better than Orient, Wimbledon, Wycombe, Mansfield or Carlisle. (maybe better than Mansfield...)
Even Cambridge and Exeter can sneak in, but consistency in the run-in is crucial, I was impressed with both sides at our ground, particularly Exeter, but both sides go on to lose silly games...
Out of interest, why are you naming Rovers as locked into the top 7?

I can see Accrington beating both of us for sure, I was very impressed when I saw them earlier in the season. As for Carlisle and Mansfield, they're good teams, but no better than Orient or the U's unless they have a cracking day. I can see about 7 teams going for those last 2 spots. Also I just noticed Wycombe's run of fixtures, it's not friendly.

I'll take 9th or 10th.
Do you not think you can push for the playoffs given your league position? I've not seen your remaining fixtures though.
Went to your place for that boring draw, thought it was two very average teams (although we have improved considerably since then).

I think we'll just miss out personally, we haven't beat a team in the top half this season. 10th position would be an excellent achievement given how diabolical we were last season.

You're not going to beat us at the Hive...
I think a very boring 14th will be our final position.

I am very much looking forward to my first trip to the Hive. I was Barnet mascot twice back in the very early 90s and still have the pictures on my wall (one for a thrilling 2-2 draw with the Orient, I wore a Barnet Shirt, with Orient shorts and socks!)

That said, on paper, we are stronger and, with a big away following, should win at the Hive.

Ha, big away followings don't guarantee anything.. we' re not 3rd in the home table in this division for nothing you know.
There's no 'should' about predicting the result for this match, we're hardly miles behind you.

I said 9th before the start of the season, and I don't see any reason for that to change now. An upturn in our home form, a couple of decent away wins (Pompey, Bristol, Notts please), and looking like we have some sort of decent nucleus going into the summer will keep me happy. Probably too much to ask.

That's a fair point well made, but I would argue that your home games from now until the end of the season are tough, with 5/9 being against sides in the top 10. I would therefore expect your 3rd position in the home table to be corrected come season end. Looking forward to the game though!

That is a good point well made, our next two matches on Saturday and Tuesday, against Wimbledon and Portsmouth respectively will clearly show how good we actually are at home.

We'll end up somewhere like 12th.

Disappointing but that's the norm.

Maybe, but top 10 teams have come and lost already this season.
I think 3rd in the home table is underselling ourselves

and it's none to shabby against top half sides either

Think we'll finish just outside the play offs, after 2 seasons ago i would be well chuffed with that! Had we gone into The Conference WWFC wouldn't have survived so i'm just pleased we're still a Football League club. :woo:

I'm still not sure where we'll finish, I think I predicted 7th pre-season. Playoffs aren't completely out of the question, but there are a number of teams battling for the 4 spots.

18 games left for us, 9 against top half sides and 9 against the bottom 12. I fancy us to get a better points return against the top teams, as we often struggle when playing lesser sides e.g. 2 points from 6 vs York and 0 points from 6 vs Newport.

Always nice to see another Orient fan in these here parts!

Presuming Accrington and Portsmouth are locked in I think we stand as good a chance as Wycombe, Bristol Rovers, Mansfield, Wimbledon and possibly Carlisle given their games in hand. Unfortunately that means there are five - plus a possible late mid table runner - teams competing for two spots. 40% chance to make the play offs, suggests we probably won't do it.

I've said all alone I fancy both Bristol Rovers - good all round team - and Wycombe - best defence in the league, can't score for shit - to make the play offs, Wimbledon's run is making me reconsider. But I'll stick with what I've gone along with for the last few months. I think we'll hit 8th.

We will finish between 22nd and 12th barring a collapse. Don't care where as long as we are safe with more than 3 games to go.

We have the ability to finish 6th-7th but not the consistency.

I'm thinking somewhere between 8th-10th with a push on to the play offs next season.

I'm already satisfied that we've improved significantly on last season. A play off finish would be an unexpected bonus, though we haven't got what it takes to win them.

Saying that, outside of the top 4-5 places I don't think any other teams are any much better than us.

Hard to say where we'll finish, if we stop getting so much bad luck then we can make the play offs without a doubt, but floods, ridiculous red cards, shite pitches, fixture pile ups and players getting a cold all at once are stopping us. :(

I think most Carlisle fans would have us finishing just outside the play-offs at the moment. Biq 3 games coming up, if we can somehow win all three then I'll reconsider but at the moment we're looking pretty likely to finish around 8th/9th, and since this is mostly down to the fact that we consistently drop points against the lower teams I see no reason to believe that these next 3 games will be any different.
