Millwall having the same sort of supporters of 30 years ago isn't exactly something to be proud of.

why would they care? yes they have their idiots like Leeds do, but to be brainless enough to think that's their majority is a bit sad, I've actually drank with some Millwall fans abroad before whilst I was in my Leeds shirt, we laughed about kicking my head in, did I feel like I was in danger ? no just a great couple of hours watching a Euro's match, ended up being like every other club, just a large group of men drinking and having banter

Millwall have a small fanbase, I've seen you cause aggro once at Ashton Gate and it was the opening day when you won 3-0 and decided to smash the away end up for some bizarre reason.

I've been to The Den and it's a pretty soulless ground that was half empty and I found it incredibly tame. There were barely any Millwall fans there, saw fuck all pre and post match.

If Millwall did not care about nobody liking them then they would not constantly chant about it.

Clubs like Stoke, Birmingham and Wolves have never been overly endearing either but the difference is that they genuinely don't care.

There is a lot of defensive stuff in this post, which is fair enough given I implied that 90% of this division lacks soul, but you will never meet a Millwall supporter who claims that we are a big club and to attack us on ambition, crowd size and the conventional metrics for club status betrays a fundamental misunderstanding about Millwall and its supporters.

I'm also talking about trends. You're talking about the one or two times you've been to Millwall. I can't speak for Bristol City in specifics, but it seems likely they will go the way of your Hulls and Cardiffs. The only thing keeping them relatively grounded is lack of success, but that looks likely to change in the future. Ultimately, the club will be unrecognisable, but most depressingly indistinguishable from everyone else.

I imagine we will be in the Conference or well in the lower reaches if current trends continue to the middle of the century. Football is increasingly a spectator sport, and Millwall make the spectacle uncomfortable.

I would care much less about this question, perhaps not at all, if ticket prices were not so expensive that it was obvious that football is nothing like a community institution. I would care even less if football supporters didn't regularly compare and sneer about success when it almost always has nothing to do with skill, or a mythical local knowledge and spirit, and everything to do with money.

I'm not getting defensive, I agree with you a lot of grounds are shite in this league and some clubs have sold their soul for success - that's the modern game, you have to have a lot of the features to be a good side nowadays, but Millwall have done that as well have they not? Maybe not for success because that hasn't really come with it, but a new stadium that's pretty featureless, goal music etc?

My point is that Millwall aren't much different to the rest nowadays really.
