someone is at fault surely for the housing and job crisis
Capitalism caused the housing crisis by making housing into a commodity.
There is no jobs crisis - except that we're forced to sell our labour to survive.

Really ? we had 3 jobs going last month and we had 16 applications 11 were from non UK and 5 UK ladsCapitalism caused the housing crisis by making housing into a commodity.

some good points indian danObvious. If more people leave the country and less come in the pressure on housing eases. Forget the political connotations to that, but it is a fact.
Same goes for NHS. It's not suffering from a lack of money, it's suffering from the number of people using it.
Everything is out of kilter. If our infrastructure and public services can only support a certain number of people whose fault is it when it gets overstretched.
The likes of 'Red ' of this very forum (you may know him as Swampy) want Sherwood Forest logged and flats built for Romanians......i'm sure i seen a post the other day from him calling for Stone Henge to be used as a car wash to employ 12 more immigrants.Obvious. We can support ourselves fine; we're not Wales. They'd fall to shit without the UK. I wonder if we'll build a wall? If we don't then the East euries will just fly to Scotland and drive across the border to work off the books.
And ban the quarter of a mill English up here from doing so too.
But you can't which is why you voted to stay. It makes me laugh tbh. You'll leave the UK to be 'independent' but then surrender yourselves to the EU. Honestly you're lucky May is stubborn because that'll save you from the miserary of being a tiny country under the control of globalist bureaucrats. We can support ourselves fine; we're not Wales.
Salty only gets "patriotic" when he's had a few too many whiskys.
I predict that he's had a few too many whiskys tonight.
Not even started tonight mate, about to soon thoughSalty only gets "patriotic" when he's had a few too many whiskys.

Ah yeah I see they scraped to that win today, much like they do most of their games. And who is to blame for that (thread-title)?
I predict ManU because today they got their 41st trophy like Liverpool
Only a minority do though Dan.If Scotland want independence they should let the English vote on it.
It'll sail through no problem then
That Hadrian fella had the right idea!
Ian's housing point is right. Houses should be a place to live in first and an investment second. The government are now beginning to target second properties from a tax perspective but it doesn't go far enough.Capitalism caused the housing crisis by making housing into a commodity.

Which 'would' happen Steven. However it is NOT a given that the SNP will be permitted to hold another 'once in a lifetime' vote. The SNP only govern for SNP members in order to appease them. They are more interested in 'Independence' (see Abertawe's post re Independence) than anything else.Ah yes, if the majority of the rest of your countrymen fail to vote the same way as you do they are wrong and it must be an Englishman's fault.
You really are a.....n SNP voter, aren't you Salty?

They should remove (or at least) reduce stamp duty for individuals/couples if it's their first/only home. And they should bang it up on second homes. Plus there's loads more they could do on capital gains tax.
Property is by far the best commodity to invest in and that's what's causing the housing crisis in my opinion.
I agree with all you say. The issue of high household debt derives directly from absurd house prices.I don't think the housing crisis can be resolved without a fundamental restructuring of the economy. At the moment, the government incentivises young couples getting into overwhelming debt to "get on the property ladder".
If interest rates increase, the debts are not going to be serviceable for many homeowners. An interest-rate rise would be economically catastrophic, given record levels of private debt. Consequently, the government needs to keep interest rates down. But that means that it has to keep property debt low-risk. And in order to do that, it needs to keep property prices soaring.
And that means no social housing, and more incentives for young people to take on an unsustainable level of debt. Of course, there's only so long the government can stimulate demand for housing.
