It was the year Tranmere were promoted to League 1, as he was also adamant that Tranmere had no chance whatsoever of making the play offs that year and anytime anybody said otherwise he scoffed at them, before Tranmere made the play offs and won them.
Despite our best efforts to bugger it up in the 1st half.

It’s quite ironic that he’s being like that with you too given that a couple of seasons ago he was spouting off all season that Exeter would definitely go up automatically before they lost in the play offs and he disappeared off the forum for months.
Yeah I mean Carver might have been winding him up a little at the time but apparently me being cautiously optimistic was the straw that broke the camel's back, and to be honest we all know what Carver's all about and at least him and Masi can actually have a laugh.

Since then he just makes the same joke every time someone mentions the promotion race 'don't you mean race for second place since Carlisle have already won the title' and hardly posts anything else, unless someone tells him to bore off in which case he flips his lid. I was not in the mood for him yesterday evening, I mean I never am but particularly after last night's game.

China is a socialist republic run by a single party, the Chinese communist party!
I mean, yes and no. There are certainly some socialist elements to the way the country is run, I believe they do have some form of universal basic income and in name at least everything is publicly owned, but in practice a lot of these publicly owned enterprises are indistinguishable from big companies in the capitalist world in terms of the way they operate and how the wealth they create is distributed.

If (as is sometimes the case in sci-fi dystopian universes) the big companies in the West somehow usurped their governments and replaced the state with a giant corporation and citizens became employees, it might not look all that different to China today.

Socialism with Chinese characteristics! It's really closest to what's called corporatism but people chuck that word about now to mean big business which it didn't used to in political economy.

They have a lot of billionaires who happily give a large chunk to the government. Probably a combination of years of Communist education and fear of being charged with corruption, which they execute people for.
This country might be far from perfect but its a lot better than most.

This has got very deep. Makes a change from the bickering.

To be honest not many of our supporters thought we had a chance before january 2018.

Much rather be a roller coaster of a team....than a boring roundabout that sees the same teams year in year out
You clearly know nothing of our recent history.

In the space of eighteen months we swapped visits to Molineux for Aggborough.

He lived in Liverpool for a while apparently with a cousin. Must have been an Everton fan because he certainly developed a dislike for the Reds later on.
He never visited Liverpool. His sister in law, Brigitte, was a Liverpudlian who published 'memoirs' claiming he visited Merseyside which were complete nonsense. It made her some money though.

Cashing in on a famous relative. Its a good job we are far more advanced these days. Imagine what somebody without scruples could do. End up on a breakfast show pontificating about morality i suspect. After a disastrous stint on a USA news channel.

Top of League 1 in February 2013 to relegated from League 2 in May 2015 and back in League 1 in May 2019 then last years thing. Thankfully we haven't experienced a real rollercoaster.

I'd much rather we go up automatically, and we will.
I know you’re not usually one to contradict yourself  but............

On the other forum, that I won’t name for fear of reprisals from Kim Jong Tractorboys you have predicted Exeter to finish 4th so the bit about you going up automatically I’m a bit confused about.
You also predict on there Carlisle to finish in the play offs despite constantly telling us all on this forum how shit Carlisle are so now I’m doubly confused. :dk:

Words cannot express how much I would laugh if his prediction came true and then we went and beat Exeter in the playoff final.

Still not getting the 'we rather finish 4th than 8th' argument that Devon lad and a few other Exeter fans say. And I should know a thing or two since we finished runners up in the NL on two occasions back in 2008 and 2009, and were beaten twice at Wembley before we did it again in 2014 (2nd place that is) but we finally won the final at the 3rd attempt and the rest is history as they say.

Granted, the two Wembley defeats hurt like hell esp. the 2009 one as I was convinced we were going to beat Torquay. But and this is a big but, if I were to look at some book on the history of CUFC then I much rather see
''2007/08 season - 2nd'' and ''2008/09 season - 2nd'' than something ''07/08 - 6th'' and ''08/09 - 8th''.

So what if Exeter will play in the play offs once again for what will be the 167th time? Nobody knows what the future holds and one day it'll be their day. It's like the lottery really; you have to buy a ticket first if you want to stand a chance of winning.

Would I be wrong in thinking that the midweek games are going to have a massive say on who goes up? Seems to me that the top 10 sides tend to slip up more in midweek than on Saturdays. I'm getting the impression the top sides are dropping far too many points on Tuesdays. I don't gamble any more but I like to do a 3/4 team acca just for fun and I don't think I have correctly predicted a single midweek one this season.

By the way, looks like I was right when I thought it strange that a couple FGR fans on here said that Cheltenham's recent win over us was good for their side. I hate to admit it but Cheltenham are a much bigger threat to FGR's promotion hopes than we are.

I have so much success with L1/2 on a Saturday but rarely on a Tuesday, so I barely bother now.

Please dont hate our club because of Devon Lad.
Though that prediction is quite plausible.
