Is a 4 point deficit with 10 games plus (30 points to gain) such a big ask? I'd say a 10 point deficit with 10 games to play is a big ask. Formwise Bolton are projecting upwards whereas the other sides are dropping points with inconsistency.

Looking at the table, it's a fascinating race for promotion, if Carlisle and Exeter can win their games in hand they become part of the equation and its all to play for.

Bolton are 9/1 to win the league. I'm tempted to have a nibble at that.
Over the last 10, we have made up 5 on Cheltenham, 6 on Tranmere/ Forest Green. 9 on Exeter. 10 on Cambridge

We've won 8 drawn 2. I can't see that being repeated in reality.

Possibly not and one bad result often leads to more, but it's the final stretch and you are only 4 points off the autos with 10 to play. I haven't gone into the intricacies of anyones fixtures but your form can't be ignored. You are keeping clean sheets and have goals in the side. That's a good recipe.

Thanks for the welcome guys, if you look at the fixtures going down to Bradford nearly all those involved have five or six head to heads one club have only four from memory i think that was Newport ? Tomorrow is an opportunity for Bolton, but of course one defeat especially say at FGR would be a real setback, if however we win both 9/1 will look very generous. In November i had a few quid at 25/1 thinking we had turned a corner, how wrong was i, however the turn around since then is quite remarkable, the big test comes IF we lose, how quick can we get back on the horse. Im not greedy i will waive my bet for a place in the top three. Tranmere and Exeter have games in hand so playing each other is a real bonus. At this point it's all about the result. Enjoy the ride.

I think the issue for us is that very rarely do you see teams sustain that level of form over 20 games. We’re going to drop points, and if I was a betting man I’d say we will this weekend. We looked tired against Vale and historically this type of match (top vs bottom of the form table) is one we slip up on.

I think in my pre-season prediction I had us finishing third, with a poor start and and end-of-season upturn. I just didn’t predict that our start would be so bad, or that our upturn in form would be so good.

I think we’ll get playoffs now. Autos might be a bridge too far but it’ll make for an interesting end to the season. And as the old adage goes, you deserve to finish exactly where you do. Miss out on autos? It’s because we haven’t been good enough over 46 games.

Our team is not the team before Christmas. Agree we will drop points but so will everyone else.
We will win this weekend we have had a break after BEATING vale. Vale went on to have a good win despite looking tired like us.
Pre season i had us to finish top. At this stage that looks unlikely
Play offs are a lottery but no one will fancy playing us.

And yes after 46 games the league wont lie....Not bothered in the slightest how this season pans out

I know its only a matter of time that we rise up the leagues.

Relegation and administration are a thing of the past.

Agree with the comments above to a degree we have had a full week without a game, so we should have enough tomorrow but this is football so no gaurentee, one thing that is gaurenteed is anything less than a win and the fans will be dissappointed, that's how far we have come, and we have been expecting the run to end for the last 6 games.

Yet Port Vale asside the three games prior we were coasting, Oldham was seriously easy Bradford we battered them and slippped up in the last second and our performance against Cambridge was light years better than any team i have seen this season. For me the only thing that will stop us is a massive slump in form anything near our current form and we go up automatic. But like they say "its a funny old game"

Oh absolutely it’d be considered a disappointment. But as we saw midweek, anything can happen. It wasn’t that long ago where I’d consider being in the Championship a disappointment, and not long before that where I was disappointed we missed out on a Champions League place and finished level on points with Liverpool in fifth. After the start we’ve had I’d actually be delighted with 7th in League Two. Funny old game eh?

I honestly can’t call the top 7. I do think that someone in the mix is going to fall short, and someone on the periphery will drag themselves into it at the death. This weekend could be quite telling.

The utterly shite Manchester Evening News has given Bolton a 5% chance of finishing in the top 3 and a 33% chance of the play offs.
Personally I think they’ve got the momentum to finish top 3.

I reckon Bolton will finish top 3, they've got the form and the manager with some momentum. I also reckon his agent will be submitting his CV to lower end Championship jobs in the summer.

Lol at all the Bolton fans suddenly appearing on here
Fair enough, we have been quiet, particularly after all the kids with their HMS Piss the League nonsense. I started posting pre-season but then gave up when the village idiot took the microphone. Been lurking since, and thought I’d chime in with what I felt was a balanced view.

no problem if we get promoted he would stay......He will be in the championship the season after anyway

Will get more than the poxy 250k we give you and we would have a line of quality managers applying for the vacancy.

We would look around to see who is available and cherry pick who we want from a tin pot team again

No you was here August,September time then you fucked off when we was getting beat most weeks.
Now you have started up again......fair weather poster.
Dont come on here talking bullshit i have been here 6 months and stood alone.
For me you can fuck right off again. I had confidence in the team and you come on here preaching.
Your balanced view is that we are going to finish outside the top 7
Tranmere will win the league and we will struggle next season
I have enough taking it off most on here without the likes of you

Do some research on Steve Whiston. I will always hold him high in regard but he is an ambitious man with an agent that chases the money - even though you think you are one of the biggest clubs in the land he will fuck you off for what he thinks is the most direct route to achieve his ambitions, and a decent wedge in his agents pocket.

There's a good chance he will be in the Championship before Bolton are.

I actually agree with that you that if we dont get promotion this will proberbly happen.
It is a open market and teams higher in the leagues will of course be interested in him.

We will take our compensation and move on. Like you when he goes he will leave the club in a better state than when he walked in the door.

And yes we would have a very high calibre of manager hoping to step into his shoes.
We have had better managers than Evatt walk out on us in the past....And will some time in the future.

No problem, just would have been good to have your balance when it wasn’t going well earlier in the season, otherwise just makes you look like a bunch of fair weather posters.

I had a look on the barrow forum a couple of weeks back actually and there was talk of him. Think I agree with what a few said. Taking us up this year will have been the expectation set on him at the start of the season. I think if he takes us up he still needs to prove it at a more competitive level for us. (We would still be more attractive than a lot of league 1 clubs).

If he moves us forward and leaves I'll be fine with it.

On the other hand he seems to enjoy working with Sharon, and we have ambition to go where he wants to go.

I am cool with Evatt, still believe he is learning.....No substitute keeper is a risk he takes and he will do so until it costs him . Overlooking certain players is another bad trait but he is turning round the team

Its the board as much as Evatt that has turned the club round......I want him to stay but if he gets a better offer we both move on

Good news. Bolton are on Football Focus. That will see them lose today.

Stats updated after todays games based on short (10 games), Medium (20 games) and long (PPG) form. Predicted points in brackets

1 Cheltenham (83.5)
2 Tranmere (81.5)
3 Bolton (81.2)

4 FGR (80.8)
5 Cambridge (78.4)
6 Morecambe (76)
7 Exeter (73.4)

8 Newport (71)
9 Crawley (68.6)
10 Bradford (68.4)
11 Salford (65.3)
12 Carlisle (55.8)

Top 3 looks like a 5-horse race. Cambridge have the points on the board but Tranmere and Bolton both have the short and medium term form to overtake them. FGR drop out of predicted top 3 for the first time since I started doing this and perhaps the injuries are now starting to hurt them. Tranmere were really unimpressive but stay in the auto picture. 81 points looks like being the mark to make top 3.

Morecambe continue to live the dream and look well placed for a PO spot, Exeters defeat today is soften by all the PO chasers losing ground. Newport are best placed to strike should the Grecians falter. 7th spot still open I would say but the chasing pack need to put a run together with games running out. Carlisle stay on the database due to games in hand but they are more than likely heading for a bottom half finish. Harrogate removed from database due to games played and unlikely to be in PO contention. 74 points should book a team a PO spot.
