Going of pre-season for us Amond looks a good bet eachway at 25/1 as does Arnold if he goes upfront like he has in pre-season at 20/1
Others include Hearn at 25/1 if he stays fit, Hannah at 40/1 if he plays regularly and suits Chester, possibly Walker at 50/1 if Barrow do well and likewise Bowman at 66/1 for Gateshead.

Amond yes, but Arnold is terrible at those odds.

Reevesy too short at those odds. Great striker, but playing in our team means he'll be doing very well to make top 5.

Giuseppe Sole could be worth a small punt at 66-1, looks like he could feature a bit more this season and is a proven goalscorer.

Andy Cook at shorter odds than Hearn/Norwood/Jennings, wow, I've seen it all now. Congratulations to Bet 365 on their British Comedy Award.

Going off our pre-season games so far, I'm surprised Bet365 don't just have a "Macclesfield Town" line at around 1,000/1!!

Nobody has yet mentioned Amari Morgan-Smith who I've just backed at 33/1 with BetVictor. He's Cheltenham's main striker next season and has scored a few during pre-season. Gary Johnson will set Town up in a very attacking style next season claiming that a lot of goals need to be scored in order to get promotion. Has a similar profile to last season's winner John Akinde who went from club to club without pulling up trees before finally getting a chance to shine.

On the subject of Akinde, quite like his chances of scoring plenty at L2 level next season - especially as it seems there isn't a huge amount of difference between L2 and the Conference.

I had a look at Padraig Amond but 8/37 and 11/45 for Morecambe in L2 the past two seasons don't suggest he is going to set the National League alight. Rendell is obviously proven at this level - my concern with Andy Mangan is whether he will be injury-free all season.

Only pre-season I know but 6 goals in 5 games might suggest otherwise.

The difference being Akinde had scored almost 1 in 2 the previous season and was obviously on an upward spiral. Morgan-Smith has tootled along for a few years not scoring that many.

AMS will only get 10 to 15 goals this season but he won't get more than that.

AMS is the Conference Premier equivalent of a badger. "While Morgan-Smiths don't hibernate in the sense that hedgehogs do, they will score a reasonable amount of goals in the summer and autumn to see them through the winter months when earthworms and other foods are hard to come by."

Amari Morgan Smith played for us in our first season back in the conference and I can confidently say he was one of the worst strikers I have ever seen play for Macc.

I don't need to, he won't be anywhere near the top of the scorers chart.

We once beat a full strength Aston Villa 3-1 in pre-season, we finished 13th. It means jack shit.

For Cook to be top goal scorer, he'd need to actually be in shape.

Not a chance Cook will be top scorer - the term "confidence player" was coined for him. He'll have a bad patch where he'll be useless and then come alive with a hat-trick against one of the top clubs.

Walker won't get double figures, and he won't be first choice for large parts of the season.
Bogle for me.

Hearn has looked pretty rusty, which is understandable given the amount of football he has played in the last 2 years, but he seems fit and has played in all games so far.

Fingers crossed, if he stays fit for 30+ games he should be good for 20 goals.

He took a while to get going before his scoring spree with Grimsby in his last spell at this level so I'm not too concerned, also pre-season means nothing.

I'm happy to place money on 20 goals if he can play the majority of games, hopefully we'll sign Harrad to ease the burden as well.

We beat Middlesbrough 5-1 in 1992 as well, so it really does mean nowt.

Quite a few of the strikers who did well last season are kicking about , could be one of them.
