10k bar takings? So 400 people spending £25 each or just over 800 spending £12. No chance of that happening at any club in this league.

Barrow were my thought.

Nah, definitely not Barrow. Chairman is still finding his feet, and is talking to architects about rebuilding the ground. Plus we'd be lucky to take £10k at the bar in about 6 months. That part alone suggests a club where the bar is open to the public during the week - or it could just be bollocks.

Eastleigh chairman seems most likely, but to me this just seems like someone on a wind-up mission.

Gotta be a london club, 500 punts sold at £20 pound a pint

And a quick dig shows that the agent is based in Ilford, and one of his public links is West Ham Directors. The figures don't really add up for any football club, but it could be Bromley. They're in that area, seem bankrolled, uncertainty over ownership, in with a chance of promotion. Must be?

Keep 'em coming guys  So far we have - Grimsby, Tranmere, Cheltenham, Woking, Bromley, BWOOD*, Barrow, Wrexham, Gateshead, FGR, Eastleigh and Halifax*.

* No chance at all - remember the 'a chance of getting promoted to the football league' bit.

What about these clubs - Dover? Lincoln? Braintree?

Aaaaarrrrrgggghhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know that "decent catchment area" is somewhat subjective but surely it would rule out any club with plenty of other teams in the local area. That would probably rule in teams like Torquay, Barrow and Dover but at the same time less likely to be someone like Eastleigh, Tranmere or Kidderminster.

We don't have a £750k budget, we turnover more than £1m, we aren't effectively losing £40k a month and no one person has the power to sell the Club as advertised.

Since we made a small profit in the last 2 years I think we can be ruled out too. Could Dover be a possibility? Based on their gates they could possibly turn over in the region of £1 million a year and they have been able to afford to take a risk on Jaydon Gibbs' fitness that we werent able to.

I would argue it differently. Tranmere are located in the Wirral, which has a population of c.320,295 discounting the rest of Merseyside; compared to the borough of Barrow-in-Furness which has c.67,648 and a few hamlets around it - that's pretty decent for Tranmere, loads of people to tap into whereas Barrow has a significantly smaller population pool.

But then Tranmere has Liverpool and Everton, Barrow have noone, so, essentially, 'decent catchment area' sounds like an empty platitude and you could probably argue, however tenuous, every National League team has one.

Have to say I'm surprised this isn't a wind up. Flogging a football club like a Ford focus. I'm pretty certain it isn't the likes of Grimsby, Tranmere. Their turnover will be much higher, possibly towards 2-3 million. Gunning for promotion? Bromley or Barrow. I think there's your answer. I'm certain it isn't FGR, budget would be a lot higher, similar to eastleigh.

Won't be woking, their budget I imagine would be considerly less than the budget.

Will be interesting to see the outcome. My money is on bromley and barrow.

It's not us. I don't know our turnover, but Paul Baker is merely the largest shareholder. There are then a couple of others, including the Trust not far behind. There's no way this wouldn't have got out and I've neither seen nor heard anything before this thread.

Simon Keswick is our largest Sharedholder Si Robin, Paul Baker is 2nd and then CTFC investments which is based in the Bahamas. Keswick is absolutely minted but is not so actively involved in the day to day running of the club now so that part could fit however I find it extremely unlikely to be ourselves.

Simon Keswick net worth is £1.5 billion:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simon_Keswick

Our catchment area must also be around 300,000 people adding populations of Cheltenham and Gloucester together, but I maintain my stance it's not us.

You are correct of course he is.

As I understand it, he's not active in the club at all at the moment, allegedly (which means complete crap) due to comments made by every CTFC fan's favourite manager, Martin Allen.

How do you run up those kind of debts in a financial year when you don't pay any rent, play part time and have their crowds?!

It's almost like their budget isn't that small after all...

Jemfy has a point in that it kind of fits when one reads again the opening post, esp. the bits about the 'decent catchment area' and a 'chance of promotion', but I don't think it's actually Woking. Unless they're spending way over their means that is. They are part-time and get decent home crowds, so why is the owner putting in 40k of his own money each month?

Doubt it's Woking that were spoken about in the opening post of the thread.

Correct, it's not us - no way is our budget 750k for starters.

It will certainly be interesting to see whether this happens. A few other articles have said that we're planning a 'Conference South budget' for next season. This would probably result in Garry Hill leaving, as he'd think what's the point given the budget is already limited. And it would mean getting relegated and having to pay £18 to watch it. 450k worth of losses in the last year, too. So an investor comes along with money, albeit not loads, to manage the club better off the field and put a bit of cash in too. This would mean Mike Smith, who loves the limelight of being chairman, getting removed from his position. And that is where the problem lies. He isn't going to let it up easily.

Let it go, Mike. For the good of the club.
