Afternoon guys, I'm looking to buy a new PC, and I've found one but it has no operating system. Does anyone know where I can buy Windows 7/any Windows compatibility for a decent price, or be able to get around it?

Cheers fella's.

Illegally download it.
The only problem with that though is if something went wrong, would you not get in deep shit if you got your PC repaired and got found out about it?

There are ways of activating it, that usually come with the torrent, which mean the copy of Windows would act and appear exactly as a legitimate version.

If you are worried though it might just be better to look out for a cheap version as you are doing.

Dunno what knowledge you have, but make sure you get the correct bit version for your computer.
64 bit I believe, but will double check. Appreciate it, cheers.

Don't see that much difference between 7 and 10 to be honest. Few bits of Windows 8 here and there, and Settings replacing Control Panel (which you can still find if you really want it)

It's what Windows 8 should have been.

Yeah, but when you work with 7 , then remote over onto a machine to apply a first contact fix (I'm talking work here) it ain't half confusing. Even walking users through a fix is a nightmare as you say go to control panel for me, and they can't find it.
Doing anything in regedit or cmd seems iffy on a W10 machine too.
Our new computers at work are 8.1 which is even worse, although we'll be getting Thin Clients after the New Year, which should make a lot of our work easier.

I still use 7 at home, I just find it superior to both its successors.

Sorry for the jargon, there's probably only Rammy that understood a word of that.

I want to buy a game that only works on 97 to ME but I have Windows 10. Anyone know what I need to do to get the game to work?

Oh I understand that annoyance! We have a few laptops on Windows 10, but the bulk is still on Windows 7. Will probably be a nice 'fun' project for next summer to get everything upgraded.

Regedit is iffy regardless, unless you absolutely know what you're doing. cmd and regedit are no different though?

We avoided 8 completely, apart from on our office computers as it was shit.

Get yourself on 10, while it's still free!

Just checked, one of the developers of the game has actually posted a page full of instructions on how to get it to work. Doing what you said is one step in a page full of instructions that, to me, looks like one of those maths problems in Good Will Hunting. I might need Matt Damon.

They are basically the same yes, I've had a drink due to finishing work though so forgive me. I don't like going in there for fixes myself, let alone walking a non IT savvy user through the process. One wrong character input can have catastrophic effects!! Luckily I've not killed a computer yet!!
