Could be some weeks yet, the FA can be slow to approve everything for these takeovers to happen.

And not to forget that the FA have the difficult task of choosing between Big Sam and Harry Redknapp for the next England manager........

Meanwhile, our illustrious former chairman has today gone back to prison to serve out the remainder of his sentence for money laundering

This would be a remarkable takeover considering the wealth this man possesses.

My question would be, why Wolves?

My initial thoughts, too.

Although I am a Wolves Fan (from abroad) I don't like these "takeovers". I loathed it already in the PL and now it becomes more and more even in the other leagues, too.
Yes, they have money to spend but sometimes it's for me that the clubs are selling their "souls" to these foreign investors, may they be Sheiks, Russian Oligarchs, American Businness man etc.

Sorry, I don't like it that it's now Wolves, too. I mentioned it in my "introduction thread" that my first visit to Molineux was in the 80's in the Dark days of the old 4th Division and since then I have seen some promotions (even to the PL) and relegations, something of an "elevator effect: Up-down". But that's what a fan has to endure.

Let's see how this will work . But, generally, speaking, I don't like these takeovers of English football clubs.

Yup I know, a few years ago we were talking about how we want our league and clubs to mirror the German set up, cheaper tickets and fans with a say in the club. We've gone the other way though as a country.

Apparently it's not Li but Fosun International behind a Jorge Mendes led consortium.

Yeah, deal expected to be concluded in 2 weeks. Mendes is having a big say in transfers, hence being linked with alot of Benfica / Porto players.

So Fosun International aren't quite as wealthy as Robin Li, but they're still billionaires, and the company makes on average £24.7m a day in profits, so coughing up £45m to buy Wolves isn't much more than pocket change to them.

Aswell as Julen Lopetugi taking over Jorge Mendes is going to have a big say on our transfers. Walkley_Owl has he done much to bring players in at Sheff Wed in the last year?

be nice to see us and wolves back in the prem. i grew up with a lot of wolves fans and although there was rivalry there has always been mutual respect between the two clubs sets of fans. be nice to see wolves doing well in the prem because they are a great club and a big club at that. some people dont realise how big they are or can become.

It's official, we are rich.

This day will be remembered for either the making or breaking of Wolves.

Kenny Jackett will be sacked within 48 hours regardless. Not sure where this leaves us, but the timing halfway through pre season really isn't the best time to sack half the backroom staff.

Jez Moxey has left the club.

In no exaggerated terms, that is by far the best news to come out of this club in the last decade.

The parasite has finally left us, that in itself is cause for mass celebration for Wolves fans.

It's a lot more than we've ever spent before, but not sure if it's enough to get us out of this league.

Is that just transfer fees then, or general running costs as well?

It's still a very good kitty but it was made to sound like Wolves were going to be the Man City of the Championship.

If it was Robin Li who took over we would be probably talking about Man City calibre of money. Everyone presumed it would be him taking over until 48 hours ago when it was announced it would be Fosun International. Whilst Fosun are very rich, they aren't in the same league as Robin Li's wealth.

As for the money, I would presume it's £20-30m purely on transfer fees. Still though it isn't obscene money in today's market, even Derby have spent more than £30m in the last 2 years.

It also means we wont have to sell our young players (Hause/Iorfa/Graham). Hopefully we can spend money to build our team around those sort of players.

Not quite going to have the financial muscle I initially expected but this is still good news for Wolves, they will be far more competitive in the market but this has probably come too late in the summer for them this year. As Mark said they no longer need to sell their best young players for peanuts and with 20-30M, they can assemble a very competitive side. We probably spent around 12M last season maybe less and that took us from a boring mid table team to a very entertaining side 90 minutes from the Premier League.

I think the only thing thats come to fruition from this is that Wolves have been took over and Jorge Mendes will use Wolves like Willie Mckay did with Donny and throw em loads of foreign shite.

Everything else was bollocks.

Brilliant thread.

The thread title is 'Wolves Takeover'. Wolves have been taken over by a Chinese consortium. Correct me if I'm wrong but the whole objective of the thread has been accomplished?

Oh and there is a bit of a difference between Jorge Mendes, who represents footballing icons like Jose Mourinho and Ronaldo to Willie fucking McKay. You sound bitter Alex, then again I would if my team were turned down by a 34 year old Dean Whitehead.

That first line though... hahahahhaa

I'm bitter about everything to do with football at the moment but if you think you'll be signing owt special from Jorge Medes you'll be in for a rude awakening. For every Ronaldo he has he has a Bebe.
