RefWatch; Ref for Oxford game is Kevin Wright, 46, from Peterborough. FL ref since 2003. Senior Officer in HMRC, so is the second successive civil servant from Posh we've had this week - Deadman did the Carlisle game last night. Lucky us. They probably work in the same building, perhaps they spoon each other during their lunch break. There's a lovely image for you on a sunny Wednesday afternoon.

Won the Yaxley Junior Angling Championship when he was a kid, says he's obsessed with fishing, and that he even talks to the fish when he's alone. Well, he is a ref & a tax collector, he's not going to be buried up to his neck in sopping minge like a Womble is he, it's no surprise the only friends he can get are slimy, slippery, smelly and scaly. Injured a lot, misses some games each season due to a bad knee, and also has fractured his right wrist 5 times in 18 months. Jesus Kevin, work on your wanking technique man; slow, slow, quick quick, slow, just pop next door & watch that expert wanker Deadman.

Reffed Wombles once, the 1- 0 win at Spotland in Jan 13 (1R for them) when Paul McCallum scored to move us off the bottom of the table in that horrible season. How did we manage to stay up with MMK in defence? I don't care that we're 5th now, I still check the table from the bottom up every time. Relegation battles sure do leave scars. Reffed Oxford once, a 1-1 draw with Accy in '11 (6Y). Hates the scum. Reffed them 8 times & they've lost 5 & he sent off a scum against Wolves. Top man. Hates them. Home win % is 50%. In 25 games this season he has given 78Y &4R - highish yellow.

AnagramWatch; Ref Kevin Wright = I Frig Her New TV, K.
Oxford United = Fried Ox Donut. Die Oxford Nut.

Another big game this weekend for us. Prior to this week I said we would get all 9 points on offer. So I shall be brave and say 1 nil home win. (in reality a point may be the result.)

2-0 or 2-1 Wimbledon.

Saturday 27th February 2016 is the day that goes down in history as the day we break the Oxford hoodoo.

Bollocks.

Too flat, gave Oxford to much room. At times it looked like Oxford had an extra man on the pitch.

I think I may have mentioned this before....... I fucking hate Oxford.

That was huge for us yesterday, especially with Barnet doing us a favour.

If I'm honest, I'd be very surprised if Wimbledon made the playoffs; but the way they play football is all wrong for us. That's not a criticism - on that pitch, they've no option but to be direct; but to get three points from those circumstances doesn't half restore any confidence lost last week.

Yawn, saw loads of this on the Oxford forum. Like they are fucking Brazil or something. Oh Wimbledon were dirty and brutes. What a load of rubbish.

Not sure where the Oxford fans get 'dirty Wimbledon' from. Oxford committed more fouls during the game.

Not unusual for opposing fans to only see the opposition fouls while ignoring the numerous little fouls that Hylton etc committed.

Will be interesting to compare them against Northampton, Accrington and Bristol Rovers over the next three games. They certainly weren't as good as Carlisle.

That was my point. It's impossible to judge in a one of situation. The league table shows us that they are better than carlisle. However the way Oxford fans are going on about our anti football and long ball etc is also crap. I know it should not annoy me but hey I'm having a shit day and it does.

I didn't say anything about Wimbledon being dirty did I? I didn't think you were at all actually, especially considering how much Maguire and Hylton were on the wind up yesterday. You were though, very direct. Everything was long into Tom Elliott and you've a team that's built to play a certain way. And - as I alluded to before - correctly, because you play on a cabbage patch so there's no point trying to play a passing game.

I don't have an issue with the way you play football. I didn't see any play acting or time wasting. I do have an issue with how much we've struggled with teams that play more combatively, like Wycombe, like Northampton. We dealt with it yesterday better than we have done. Thats all I was saying.

My point on the playoffs is that it doesn't surprise me your best form has come in the last couple of months when conditions have been at their worst. I expect as the weather and pitches (hopefully) improve a bit, it may suit teams that are more balanced in the way they play. Also, don't forget we rejected three of your first team so its sort of difficult for us to expect them to be part of a successful side!

All very ironic. You don't know much about Ardley do you. The biggest complaint most weeks is that we overpass and are not direct enough. We have also only lost twice away all season so play quite well ta, on all sorts of surfaces.

Ha, wow. There was certainly no over- passing yesterday.

Fair enough, maybe you'll do better than I think then! It's worth adding that we were missing our captain and our two best players yesterday to the list of reasons why I don't think you will, but I certainly hope your home record improves next weekend.

Not sure there was any football played by either team. It was a game lacking any great quality, although I really do think we had the better of it.

While I can understand Oxford thought they should beat a team of 'three Oxford rejects' (for me any team with Hylton as a first choice striker should be capable of being beaten!) from what I saw they weren't anything special. I assume that the keeper and centre half (33) aren't first choice?
You're not the first opposition supporter to say that sort of thing about Hylton, and I can only think it's because he has a tendency to wind people up (I like that he does!). He is though, a very good player at this level, well, he has been for us for getting on for two seasons anyway.

As for the keeper, we have two both of whom are nothing special and neither has made the position their own and are rotated on a regular basis. I would say it's our weakest position by far and we would be even closer to the top of the dicvision if we had a competent one.

You are quite correct about the number 33.

I think you already know the answer to that. Another game we deserved a point from. You are obviously a bit advanced of us this season but not that much. Our progress has been good and yes you are our bogey team and we have played 2 lost 2 but I take heart from the fact that you outplayed us in neither game.

I wouldn't necessarily take our forum (we have a few) as gospel. The general perception across all forums is VERY different and not a fair reflection of the general consensus. Although I suppose the same could be said about most football forums! Like most clubs, we have a number who are somewhat delusional.

On the topic of our players; Chey Dunkley worries me. For a centre half he is incredibly raw, he is a pretty good athlete actually but lacks football intelligence. He is often very reliant upon his centre half partner to bail him out and talk him through games. He is also prone to multiple mistakes which ensures he is a bit of a liability. He's probably not on much money so he represents a bit of a gamble coming in from non-league. But as back up he's alright in a winning side who can carry him through.

Buchel and Slocombe again are both a bit 'meh'. As has been mentioned, both are by far our weakest members of the squad. Both are prone to a costly mistake at least once per game... I would suspect that both will be gone if we can get rid at the end of the season regardless of what league we are in.

Danny Hylton is one of those players that if he went to another club he may develop into a bit of a journeyman League Two striker. He's someone who has just clicked with us. Interestingly when he signed, he stood out like a sore thumb and he was not taken to at all by management and fans (signed by Waddock who departed without Hylton playing a game) to the point that he was the target of supporter abuse. Upon realising that Appleton had clobbered a youthful squad of basically young players and not very good players, Hylton, a forgotten man at the time was thrown in and really came into his own. To Hylton's credit he worked his socks off and scored some vital goals in his first season.

There was very little football played. Wasn't possible. Makes your Ardley comment before all the more fascinating! I thought it was an even game settled by one piece magic from Bowery; and one bit of incompetence from Rigg. Neither team was 'the better team' so to speak. I remember very little about that home game to be brutally honest, Sercs hitting the bar and Baldock's goal. That's about it.

You highlighted the correct two! If you'd said Ruffels as well, you'd have got 3/3. Dunkley was ok Saturday I thought, but goalkeeper is without doubt the one position were not up to scratch in. Thought Roos looked decent too.

Odd how some players just work out. Never endeared himself at all to anyone in his short spell with us and came across as a petulant diver and all round fairly nasty piece of work who wasn't very good at scoring goals. Known not very affectionately as Danny Hytler by the time he left.

Thought I'd just mention that Super Dan was named as Supporters' Player of the Season before Saturday's match, and once again gave a great all round display to show just why.
